QF79 MEL to NRT - of course went with the Japanese set menu.

Pretty good apart from the beef skewers in the main being a tad overcooked.

I did ask for an additional dessert from the Western menu if still available but eventually never got it.

QF1260 - MEL-BNE
SDT: 1640 - FT: 2:10
On the day I travelled VH-X4D was on its 5th day of passenger service. Unfortunately being on its 5th leg of the day the seat was dirty and there was rubbish where the wireless charging pad was. None the less we left around an hour late. 2 options with very minimal explanation, either chicken salad or stew. Ended up being the Vietnamese chicken salad. The noodles were a bit dry and hard but otherwise not bad.

We left an hour late but made up most of the time enroute. 3 options that night. Teriyaki chicken, prawn paella or beef salad with pearl barley and chimichurri dressing. I had the chicken and it was again pretty good. Ice cream came about 2 hours later.

Left on time and CSM was very fast off the blocks and had the meal cart in the aisle in about 10 mins from seatbelts off. 2 options for this red-eye. Ham and cheese crossiant or a spinach and pea soup. I asked for the croissant and was promptly given the soup. Given the late hour I couldn’t be bothered asking for the croissant again but have to say I would probably order the soup again. It was actually quite nice and exactly what I needed to get me to sleep. Managed 2.5 hours sleep after that and with basically 3.5 hours in the air I was pretty happy.

Stumbled aboard this flight after about 3 hours of dozing in the J lounge. Slept for the rest of boarding and take off but thanks to my natural instinct to overeat I awoke just as breakfast was served. 2 options again today. The maple bacon and Swiss cheese croissant or fruit salad with brown sugar and passion fruit sauce. Given my utter devastation about missing the croissant a few hours prior I opted for that. Left the tomatoes and random leaves but actually don’t mind the croissant itself. The apple danish was also delicious and warm. Promptly fell back asleep and awoke in Adelaide.

MEL ADL 4/11

Chicken curry or goat's cheese salad which in the end I couldn't eat because they couldn't find the allergy list - it was probably OK but I just don't understand why they can't include the allergies with the food.

I ended up with more bread and more wine

Wine is a meal anyway.
(Joking, kinda definitely not joking)

In the salad, I see goats cheese (hope!), potatoes (with parsley), baby spinach, roasted red capsicum (probably from the bottle), fennel, green beans and tomatoes... maybe olives. Seems like the ingredients for a Niçoise, except with fennel and goats cheese... odd...

Also, can't see any sauce. Weird dish......

It didn’t look very attractive and I wasn’t particularly sad that I couldn’t eat it. I was offered a meat pie from economy which I politely declined

19:20 SYD-HBA 737 flight (actual departure 10pm).

This was a few weeks back. Two options a chicken salad or Asian pork with noodles.

Reckon I've had pork and noodles (in one form or another) a couple of dozen times on QF in the last year or so. Some menu variety would be nice.

That said, I really enjoyed this. Substantial, lots of pork which was tender - even the fatty bits were moist. No heat or spice despite a few chillies underneath, but the sauce was more than tasty enough. Good meal.

We pushed back at exactly 6 and after some quite bad turbulence during climb settled in with some very strong tail winds. For the first time in recent memory on a QF DOM J flight at least, meals were done by status. This did mean the cart went up and down the aisle several times and didn’t seem very efficient. That being said even in row 3 I got served 3rd with a full J cabin. Three options, fried eggs with bacon, mushrooms and braised beans, Neil’s healthy muesli or smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. I opted for the later. The cream cheese comes premixed with capers and onion and despite being a bit fiddly to put together in the air was actually really tasty. The bagel was warm and chewy. Just wish there was more salmon. I ate the spinach separately.

And for the first time since I was probably 10 I had jam on bread too

Unfortunately all the time we saved in flight we paid for with about 20-25 mins of holding but we still disembarked right on time.

I agree, the salmon portion does seem pretty skimpy!
