French toast with bacon, braised beans and spinach

French style vegetable salad with goats cheese, pickled fennel, red onion, olives, vinaigrette

There was a third option but it had run out by row 2:

Sweet corn fritters with smoked salmon, creme fraiche and spinach

Recently did qf70. Meals were efficient for the 12hr flight. However still not a fan of the trays. Everything feels cramped on them.

Decided for non Indian food on the flight back after 3 weeks on the subcontinent. Food tasted good. Snacks were basic and not as good as other ports. But it was a night flight, so the priority was sleep.

Hopefully the upgraded cabins come soon as the cabin was showing its age (if they decide to give the business cabin a refresh).

QF 51 BNE - SIN

Had dumplings to start, and lemon chicken and rice for main.
Fried noodles prior to arrival.

Everything looked a bit dry, and that is because I asked to be served later.
Tastes quite ok, portions small.
The small plate makes the portion size appear bigger, but also makes it hard to eat.
Butter was also rock hard, and the salt in the packet was clumped together.

Back in July I was preparing the final touches to our Christmas trip to Thailand. Back via SYD for grandparents/uncle to see little one. Littke keeps asking when we can travel business class again so I booked SYD-BNE in business. Did not tell wife/daughter, keeping it a surprise.

The experience was awful. Service appears to have declined heaps from when I was getting op-ups 10+ years ago. Supervisor spent the entire flight going back and forth chatting with 2DF. Not a good look.

Food awful. Mushroom soup, some bland awful pizza (daughter loved it) and a cheese platter not much better. This is the best Qantas can do for the price that people pay?

Only difference to economy is the size of the seat. No big deal but I'll surprise daughter again at some point. She has asked for business class on the longer flight to Thailand. Still have 800,000+ points. See if I can find some classic award seats one day to surprise her.

P.S. I have VA business class flight on my birthday SYD-BNE. It was 12,900 Velocity points for economy or 15,000 Velocity points for Business. No brainer.

QF673 MEL - ADL STD 0620

Breakfast of fried egg, beans, mushroom and bacon on this early morning departure. The other option was a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese.

Overall can’t really complain. To be honest the highlight was the sourdough and butter!

Had an interesting experience on QF157 (MEL-AKL) last night. I was in 1A.

Orders were taken 1D, 2DF, 3C, 1A then remaining front to back from 1F ... by the time I was asked, there was no Pork option left. I had a choice of beef casserole or the remaining chicken salad.

Yes, many of us would have had worse breakfasts than that. Did it taste better than what it looks like?

Does anyone have the wine list for intl J on QF (SIN-SYD)?
There is sadly no so thing as a wine list for int J on QF. I wish QF, especially coming from such a major wine country like Australia, would offer a wine list for their int J flights, but all you get is a five-second look at the label when the service comes to you. If your are very lucky, the FAs know what wines are available, but often they have no clue.
I guess just popping whatever wine QF got the cheapest into J catering until it runs out and then go with the next one is another one of their cost cutting ideas...

They don't list them in a menu, but they are usually passable on the day. Better than the J lounge, but not awesome. I'll note that it's Lallier champagne - or at least it was when I flew up late last month. I haven't find this to be as nice as the Duval-Leroy they were serving for a long while in J. I still weep for the days they regularly poured Billecart-Salmon in QF INT J 🥺 The current Botrytis Semillon is very nice (if you like a sticky with your afters); near to Noble One good.

But not on a “premium“ airline which charges a premium to fly in J.

Serfty’s meal looks like it’s gone along on a conveyor belt. Had the beef slop poured down a chute on the left-hand side, the whatever it is slop on the right hand side poured down a chute on that side and a few dried peas dropped on top.

If that was presented to me at even the cheapest roadside diner in the USA or outback Australia, I’d send it back. But, no, it’s international business class dinner ( I think) on Australia’s flag carrier.
