Qantas Business Class Upgrade - MEL -> SIN

My points bought me $80k worth of travel last year.

While there is sufficient I-class availability on those three days, as they are EK, even a P1 can't request a review on EK flights with QF points.

If your travel is flexible, EK has been known to open a few seats at the last minute.

Are you WP or above?
Thanks I have a work function and would have to leave Melbourne 25-28 latest. I assume it makes no difference leaving from Melbourne or Sydney?

Qantas Metal does not fly to DXB; this limits your options.

Do you have a Skywards account and AMEX Reward Points?

Qantas really needs to improve their Melbourne business class lounge—it hasn't changed at all since the last time I was there, and that was years ago.

It is colloquially known as 'the dungeon'! Both the SYD and MEL J lounges are underperformers.

My friend has found my first class through Singapore airlines but not keen on the stop over in Singapore total travel time 32h 🥱

This really has gone OT to the thread but I would go the SQ F. There are worse places to spend a stopover than SIN, and SQ F is absolutely first rate.

As for getting CR J or F on EK for MEL-DXB in a few months.. really difficult. Any seats would have been snapped up months ago.

Usually EK rewards can more easily be had from Asian ports - ie DPS, KUL, BKK etc.. but of course than means a stop and being creative.

Given set dates in DXB, the old saying applies imo: Beggars can't be choosers

Yes, definitely off topic but I will wear track pants on this trip!
These are my options:

If you ask nicely, I'm sure they can make EK406 go from Dubai to Melbourne. 😉
Hahaha I wrote that with one eye open. In other news I bought some really really nice track pants from Lululemon. Usually only my wife buys there, but they’ve improved a lot in their designs and comfort for men.

Which seats would you recommend?

SQ248

SQ 494 (next two images)

I love wearing Lulu on flights, super comfortable and look good too.

Not the windowless seats in row 19/21
Would you suggest 20 then in between? As 17 could be close to the toilet?

I think this thread should be renamed to Dean’s last flight ever in luxury.
