Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

As of today this is changed to "Qantas Business Rewards".

No longer pending points, nor min two pax.

Earn based on a Businesses' status with three earn based tiers.

Existing pending points now become available.

Thanks serfty; good info. I hadn't seen anything leading up to this. Must look in to the tiers, as a little and mostly domestic company i expect to be worse off for earn but removal of pending 20k is helpful.

So no minimum per year?

It looks like the usual Qantas "enhancement" to me. Level 1 only earns 20% Qantas points and Level 2 30%, compared to the 40% everyone gets now on a business class flight. To get to Level 3, you would need to earn 367,667 base Qantas points if I read it correctly (100,000 at 20% to gain Level 2, plus another 266,667 at 30% to gain Level 3). I only earned ~249,000 last year as a P1, and the rest of my company's flights wouldn't take me to the 367,667 mark! The fare discounts have also been cut. They used to be up to 10%.

OK, time to eat my words. I just logged in expecting to see my status as a humble Level 1 given I only recently started a new membership year. But I am Level 3, so they must take into account your previous year's earning at the old 40% rates. As long as the 40% keeps cycling on each year, you would never drop back to Level 1.

Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

I am surprised there was no correspondence about this before it happened, I remember a survey on the topic with scenarios similar to these changes.

Getting the discount on tickets purchased right up to departure is a positive IMO....

Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

Just rec'd an email on this addressed to my (female) name telling me how important I am. Every photo in the email is of men apparently in business. What is this the 1950s? Trumps's America?

Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

No email here but have logged in and taken a look. The new interface looks alright. Happily sitting at level 2 with a chance of hitting 3 before my end of year.

I think the Maid is just out of shot :o

What was the flight discount for flex whY before the change, 5 or 10%?

Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

I'm not sure the benefits are that different for us personally. We earn club membership through flying so no value there. The discounts - I've done a few comparison flights and not seen much value. The points have been handy and likely we will hit level 3 as with just two months into the year we are over 25% there.

Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

Saw the email. Haven't time to log in. Are the discounts for all fare levels now? Or still just Flexi and above?
Side note recently booked a flexi fare with the discount, then had to look at a change. I could find no way to access the discount when doing the change. The website wanted fare difference to bring me back to the undiscounted fare. ended up changing at the airport.

Level 3 includes a 2% discount on Red e deals.

The Aquire flights prices/deals dropped off a week before the departure date, so if you were changing close to the day of travel there would have been none available. Now they going to be bookable right up to departure

Ta. So kinda of but no for most.

Good point. I might have been trying to change within a week. can't remember exactly.

Re: Qantas launches "Aquire" business frequent flyer program.

Lucky for AFF, had no idea! Level 2 - not bad given I'm mostly a leisure flyer on QFFP :D

Previously it was:
Fare class Saving Book In Advance
Domestic
Economy Flex 5% 7 days
Business 10% 10 days
International
Economy Flex 5% 7 days
Premium Economy Saver 10% 10 days
Business Saver 10% 10 days

My email featured a few male models at a tailors getting measured for suits ... not sure how that is relevant to a female MD or flying for that matter ...

So did mine; QF needs to get with the program and realise that woman run businesses too.

Finally a change that works for me! Happy with this.

Had a brief look. I'm level 2. I shall earn the same number of points domestically but will likely earn less on international J per their tables. I would need to be level 3. So overall the whole thing is a true enhancement. I feel sorry for anyone stuck at level 1 now.

The old program was 30% on the base for economy, 40% for business and 50% for first (roughly).

The new program is 20% for level 1, 30% for level 2 and 40% for level 3.

So if you were flying flexible business or first previously (50%) you'll be making less no matter what.

So realigning the reward/value trade off to those earning more business reward points per year, and upping the discount for those earning more points but reducing their points earn. Level 1 gets to keep those pending points, albeit at reduced earning. That would seem to be a gain.
