Hi Albatross - what sort of car is the sweet spot for budget direct ?
Based on my sample of n=1 , Honda, 4 years old.

I've had a few quotes from them over 6 years. For me, it was always being pinged for the younger drivers. (once again n=1)

Same story here. $400 or approx 30% more expensive.
I did a check on a holden commodore - qantas $150 extra , no replacement rental car if at fault , $150 higher excess than my RACQ insurance.
And a terrific 6900 qantas points for this .
Not for me!

This is probably not as bad as the appalling Qantas Health Insurance product but buyer beware, very aware.

$900 with Suncorp. $1500 with Qantas. Brand new Forester. Moving on....
What worries me about this promotion ( and others) is the amount of personal data that Qantas ( and others) access about us - pity that there is no guarantee that QFF deletes the data once we elect not to take up their offer!
Who do they sell it to?

This is interesting to me. I recently did a quote and benefit comparison on Qantas Health and it stacked up very well to a very large employer fund i belong to, which in turn competes very well with the major insurers.

What was your experience?

That also was my impression - the QF health product was genuinely competitive - unlike their car insurance one!

Toyota Rav 4 2011 Is my work away from home car.
QF$399 vs $780 with NRMA

Audi S3 2016 stays in Brisbane and garaged
QF $797 Vs NRMA $868

QF comes cheaper than NRMA despite having a discount for 8 policies, max no claim discount and being with them for 5 years

It might be a good deal but my 20yo daughter wouldn’t be cover if she drives the Audi. So it’s a NO for me too

I don't insure through QF healthcare but it is rebadged NIB. NIB have more complaints then their market share would suggest. Both SMH and ABC have reported that you are likely to end up with larger out of pocket costs than average.

It is just typical of current Qantas management to team up with an average (or worse than average product) rather than a top of the range one.

They won't insure my M3 :(

But NRMA are overpriced. Try Shannons.

I tried the Qantas car insurance, but it didn't offer me the choice of market or agreed value. I stopped short of giving my name, so I don't know if the valuation came in later. Has anyone gone that far into the process? I prefer agreed value as I then know what we'll get if there is a write-off (as opposed to the diminishing-over-the-year market value).

From what I saw, the Qantas product seems expensive for either of our cars (a recent Skoda, and a 2005 SAAB).

Very interesting, thanks. Prompted me to do some research. There is a choice survey covering the complaints issue - to my mind the results aren't a significant concern with only slight differences to market share. I also found that the AMA produce an annual report card which covers aspects of out of pocket costs. You are right in that NIB are below average on most. But again, the average variance isn't significant in most of the categories, but is significant in some (that aren't relevant to me).

So my conclusion is that Qantas Health is a long way from "appalling" by any measure.

I have all the policies with NRMA and gave me a pretty good discount for all the policies but they are not as competitive as they used to be.

Will try Shannons

This is off topic but as it came up here I wanted to respond. I have to agree with this. My wife and I LOVE QANTAS Assure. It is by far the best $value for us, best phone/customer service that we have had in 30 years.

Not saying its right for everyone but it certainly worked for us.

Around $120 per year cheaper (than Real Insurance with 10000km limit) for my oldish BMW. 40yo plus drivers only for both.

Just got my renewal from AAMI. Over $800! An 18% increase!
Just checked QF and they're offering $728

Hmmm, I just looked and seen it's a bit cheaper also and I'm with AAMI. Similar numbers to you also.

I thought I'd add that when I first put my rego into the application, it said my car was a 2009 model, so their database has some wrong data (when I enter it in the Supercheap Auto website, it gives the correct info)
