Qantas Chauffeur service - General Questions/Advice

Problem for me is ? the long walk to catch the HEX , then the need to catch a cab in London for the Hotel, by the time one gets into a limo and drives door to door I suspect that time difference wont be that great....or will it?

It definitely seems quicker to go on public transport, in the case of my journey above.
I also love the cab ride between Paddington and Trafalgar Square (once we get off Edgware Road which isn't very scenic admittedly)

So, I have no idea what traffic would or could be like on the way or out of LHR (so what ranges of times could it take to get to central London). That said, you make a big point about the HEX. Nothing beats the HEX to get from LHR to central London, but only to the edge of it (Paddington)! After that, the advantage starts to drop off quickly (but that said, if I was in a real hurry and didn't want to spot for a taxi, I'd jump on the HEX for sure).

If you are arriving on QF1 or QF9 for example, then you will be in the peak hour traffic to London when you arrive in the morning, but unless you have a meeting to attend straight away then you might as well sit back and be chauffered. Chances are that HEX and taxi from Paddington will still be quicker for a cross town destination if you are in more of a rush.

Interesting PER footnote. My driver mentioned today that QF indicated some 100+ trips when they were setting up the service here. Actual practice has been more like 5 or 6!

Hi All,
I flew QF J (paid D fare) from DXB to MEL in late May. I booked chauffeur drive about a week before my flight home for arrival in MEL however I noticed it disappeared the day of my flight. I figured this may have been because I was successful in my flight upgrade award to F and the reservation would feed through during my flight. So thinking nothing of it, on arrival there was no driver to collect me. I did not bother to write to Qantas as I organized for someone to pick me up (faster than trying to deal with someone at QF I imagine) but looking back we pay a premium to fly QF so perks like these are included. Is it, in anyone else's opinion, too late to raise this with QF by way of feedback? I'm not after any compensation but want to know if this has happened to anyone else and how they went about dealing with it and what QF's official position is.
Thanks
Jason

Jason - I would contact QF over it. It may be a glitch in the system, and by feeding the information back you may help it not happening to others.

This seems unusual, and I'd be happy to follow up. Please see me a private message with the details as reference.

Thanks Red Roo for the prompt response, I have just sent you a PM with flight details, etc.

This thread prompted me to check my booking details - it's the first time I've needed to use the Chauffeur Drive service.

I'm in the middle of an ACIR22 trip with a final SYD-BNE leg. I had booked a Chauffeur Drive service from BNE to the city - all locked in and confirmed - about a week prior to the trip. A few days later I changed the dates for some internal flights in the US - ticket needed to be reissued as expected. The change actually made an additional flight leg eligible for the Chauffeur service - I added a stopover in LA on the way home so QF12 because the eligible flight.

I hadn't bothered re-checking the Chauffeur booking page until seeing this thread, but I did so just now and found that my BNE booking had disappeared. I assume this was because of the ticket re-issue.

I have re-booked so here's hoping there's a driver waiting for me at BNE next week.

Is chauffeur drive offered on normally eligible* legs of a 280k award ?

i.e., not SCL or JNB, etc. But DXB, LHR. etc

Why wouldn't they be?

Not saying "bleeding obvious" but just curious why you may ask. It has been stated before that award bookings are eligible (I think many here who have been chauffeured have done it on awards, unless they're loaded :) )

As long as they are booked in J or F...

Would anyone know the telephone number of the limo company QF uses in SYD ?

I need to change the pick up time.

Thanks in advance

PS: when they called yesterday, it was a "no caller ID" !

I am returning from dfw-bne in business. I am staying over in Bne for 2 nights to help with jetlag. My ? is am I eligible for chauffeur service bne a/port to city hotel? I'm thinking yes.
cheers

Who are you flying with?

I'd be presuming parsonstrish is flying QF on the non-stop service.

And the answer is "yes". Moreover, why would it be the case that such a chauffeured trip would not be acceptable?

Agree. a reasonable assumption, anat01.
But, as we often see with such posts, the facts are often different.
If it is a QF booking, then parsonstrish should be able to see on his/her booking page whether the flight is eligible for the chauffeur drive option.
If the question needs to be asked, then maybe there is another element at play?

Yes qf. I was focusing on something else & completely missed the return portion. Call it missing brain cell syndrome.

Does anyone know who QF use in Wellington(WLG)? Have a booking for next week but my driveway is a tricky one on the side of a hill. Do not want them attempting to get up it!
