Qantas Chauffeur service - General Questions/Advice

Someone will call me even though the CD is originating from DXB ? Or they will call me for the MEL-home leg ? Or both ?
I've done this before but nobody called me but it was ok we made do with one car. This time I'm quite sure we would need two.

Apparently. I never received a call for either flights SYD-LAX or DFW-BNE. I called QFF months earlier and asked how I could go about organising one car for the four of us. Got told no communication until T-24 where someone from the contracted CD service will call me. Never happened...

sure what you mean by completing the details for both passengers. Both passengers are on the same PNR. When I log into MMB with QF I can see both pax names on the booking. But when I click on the chauffeur drive link there is no provision to pick a car for each person etc.

Unless you mean I book one car under one of the travelling pax as the contact person and then it will allow me to add a car for the other travelling pax ?

Cheers (and sorry if I'm missing something that is blatantly obvious lol)

I suppose I mean check that the details have carried over to all QFF profiles - under everyones QFF log in. We were entitled to three cars (eldest child is 12+) so they must have assumed a family of 4, only needs a large car.

You can't nominate type of car or number of cars required. I guess they either call or just assume 2 people, one pickup location = 1 car.

Lack of communication is breathtaking.

Has something changed with regards to eligibility?

I did a DONE4 last year and was able to book a car on each leg to/from Australian and in London.

just booked new DONE4 and it says Iam ineligible for a car??

And when did JNB drop off the list?

And when did JNB drop off the list?

Sometime around June 2013 ~ see previous discussion of this on about page 21 of this thread and at various points in time since. Despite several prompts, still no real explanation of this from anyone at QF…:oops::mad:

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

JNB is an eligible route and will be available to book, along with other international flights greater than 12hrs, progressively into 2014. Please see this link for more information about our Chauffeur Drive service. :)

Red Roo, apparently JNB is no longer on the list? Please confirm? Thanks

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

I'm more worried about QF being around rather than the chauffer drive.

Re: QF Chauffeur Drive booking up & running :)

There is no good reason why JNB is not on that list, unless QF arrogantly think as a monopoly route they can give pax nothing.

Indeed. The silence from Red Roo was deafening!

Here's another data point for people wondering whether CD can be booked if on a points upgrade.

I put in for a Y->J upgrade on my upcoming QF9 flight and it came through this morning, about T-60. I was hoping this would let me book the chauffeur, since the T&C say only that complimentary upgrades are not eligible and don't say anything about points upgrades, and because I'm before the T-48 cutoff for booking. When I booked on the "customise your journey" page it came up with an error like "Customise your journey is not available. Please call customer support." but when I went back to the "customise your journey" page it did list the two chauffeur bookings.

Not wanting to leave it to chance, I called up to ask whether this had actually gone through or not. I mentioned that my upgrade had just come through, and the CSR said I shouldn't be eligible as the service is for paid J tickets. I replied that the T&C only talks about complimentary upgrades not being eligible, so she went off to talk to someone and came back to confirm that yes since I was before the T-48 cutoff I could book it. She took my pickup/dropoff details again and said she'd put them through. No change to how the "customise your journey" page looks, but hopefully it's all good (and two cars don't arrive).

It's always great to see that AFFers are constantly training QF staff...

London - LHR for QF2 J.

The QF2 check-in counter opens at T-5hrs, not the usual T-3. However, the T&C's state that the earliest pickup for Chauffer Drive is T-5. Can an earlier pickup be arranged when booking, or would that have to be negotiated with the contractor near the departure date?

I am travelling with MrsB, on seperate PRNs (linked by a notation). Do we have to book two cars, then advise the contractor we only require one car?

(Have scanned through most pages, but couldn't locate a direct answer.)

When the chauffeur rings you tell them what time you want picked up.
I've been picked up at T-6 in LHR before.

My best effort is 3 car services at the end of a RTW trip following QF94 from LAX

MEL drop off from QF94
Then a MEL pick up for dom MEL-SYD and SYD drop off at other end
2 days later

The LHR lounge is not so good that I would be wanting to spend 5 hours in it, personally.

Agreed, none of them are. I find the trip from Central London in peak time is horrendously long. That coupled with the often slow "Fast Track" security at T3 means it's good to build a big time buffer in.

To be honest I'm not going to bother with the Chauffeur for my trip next month, I like the HEX much better.

As of Wed 27/08 for QF2 from LHR.

CD booked for T-5hrs and was offered two cars for me and the Mrs. Confirmed only one required. Got to the airport in just under an hour. Then spent 2.5hrs in the VAT Refund Queue (timed it and I would have called BS on this story if it wasn't my own).

Then a quick check-in, fast track, lounge shower, snack and onto the aircraft.

So if you are going to do the VAT Refund thing, allow plenty of time. We played cards whilst in line; people chuckled and then all said 'we should have brought cards too'.

Have only had one CD experience (in Singapore, EK chauffeur before EK metal flight, though all booked through QF ticket). Did not get a call before and the gentleman simply arrived 15 minutes before pickup time. Are calls usual? I'll be taking CD at peak hour from London city to Heathrow - would like to organise an earlier time if I can.
