Qantas "Choose your reward" Promo. Select from Double Status Credits OR Double Points [book 25/3/22-1/4/22]

Just thought I'd share a data point regarding the promotion. During the promotion period I booked two trips from the Qantas website: A trip to Auckland in business class for January 2023 and a red e-deal return from Sydney to Canberra for November/December 2022.

The Sydney to Canberra trip has had multiple cancellations and rebookings due to schedule changes, including at one point the outbound sector vanishing from the itinerary. However, this past Friday I flew Sydney to Canberra with the 10 status credits posting right away. Today (Monday) I checked my QFF account and notice the bonus status credits have appeared in my account. On Friday I'm due to return to Sydney (via Melbourne of course) so hopefully will earn 40 status credits on that (with the double status credit promotion) to start off the new program year.

All in all, this news has given me peace of mind, considering the reports I heard on this thread of double status credits not being applied, particularly given I've got a $1,000 J ticket to AKL booked that should earn me 480 status credits if the DSC is applied.

^ I'm still waiting on DSCs from a DSC travel pass (with a similarly convoluted series of cancellations) for a trip to London in business in September/October. The outbound journey took place nine weeks ago and the return leg was about six weeks ago. Those extra 640 SCs get me pretty close to Lifetime Gold so hoping they come through...

Of course, the last time I posted about waiting for some DSCs (in the "Travel Pass with DSC offer" thread) , they came through the next day, so hoping the same luck holds this time. 🤞😊

Also literally just completed a trip to Perth in Reward J this morning which should attract DSCs (I'm Point Club) so there's yet another vault towards LTG. Though I don't expect these DSCs to come through for a little while yet.

That seems like an awfully long time to wait for DSC credits to post which at least in my experience occurs in a matter of days. Perhaps you should reach out to QFF by phone to see if they can sort that one out? From my experience the wait time for membership enquiries with QFF customer service is virtually non-existent and they certainly have the power to push through things that get stuck due to poor IT.

Recent travel pass and Feb double status credits with flights over the last few weeks have all posted in 24-48 hours, and counted towards P1 too, the only status credits that haven’t counted towards P1 for me were the points club roll over 100, as per the conditions

Got DSCs from SYD-DFW & LAX-SYD in Y+ from last week within 48 hours of each flight. 200 for SYD-DFW instead of 100 and 180 for LAX-SYD instead of 90. My entire itinerary was SYD-ORD return and I got an extra 40 SCs for DFW-ORD and 50 SCs for ORD-LAX so it was 470 all up.

What do we think about the chances of double dipping?

I have a Travel Pass with double SCs already attached, if I selected double points for this offer it is likely to succeed and get me both for flights booked with the pass?
Well for the record, double dip was a great success.

I received double points from this promotion the day after my flights and just yesterday i received double status credits for the same flights as I used my travel pass.

It seems Qantas processed a batch of DSCs yesterday - see this post:

Of course they did this run only hours after I spent time and effort composing an email to QFF including copies of all the documents proving that I was entitled to the DSCs. 😆

On Friday I flew the inbound of my SYD > CBR return ticket with the routing CBR > MEL > SYD. The base status credits posted instantly. However, the double status credits have yet to post. I should note that the outbound double status credits posted within 2 days or so. Would be curious how long I should wait till I pick up the phone and chat with Uncle Alan about this one?

As a data point, the DSC points for my Saturday night trip SYD - AKL (QF149) posted this morning.

I do wonder if quadruple SCs would've worked. I know the T&Cs say no, but I think there's a good 50% chance of Qantas IT never implementing the check.

Update: Double status credits posted:

So in total I earned 60 status credits on this red e-deal from SYD to CBR. 20 SCs for the nonstop SYD > CBR, and 40 SCs for CBR > MEL > SYD which I selected when QF did a schedule change on my non-stop return leg. Hence, it seems that if you are booked on a non-stop itinerary during a double status promotion (i.e. due to connecting flights costing more) it may make sense to choose the most circuitous routing when (and I said when given how frequently QF does this) QF decides to do a schedule change.

When this promotion first came out, I booked a few short trips. One was to Melbourne this month to visit Mum using J classic award seats. As PC+ each way earned 38SC, with the bonus SCs posting three days later. Alongside that, I now also earn 250 FF points due to Business Rewards. (A surprise bonus.) So using points earns more SC than paying for a Y seat! This might come in handy in the future if short a few SC to retain status!

You can bet if there is another DSC promotion, I will have booked an international trip the week before!

Just to keep something in mind for the future, would booking SYD-LAX-SFO or SYD-DFW-SFO return with purely AA flight numbers not count towards DSC, even though the transpacific leg is done on Qantas metal (QF11, QF7 etc)? This would be booked via the AA website.

I know outside of DSC periods I would still get the same number of status credits as booking with QF flight numbers.

My guess is that they would not attract DSCs, as the T&Cs for the DSC offer in the past have specified: "An Eligible Flight for the purpose of this promotion means any Domestic or International Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number on your ticket where Status Credits are normally earned."

T&Cs have also included this: "Flights can be booked via the Qantas website, a travel agent, SMS or Qantas Contact Centres". Would another airline would fall under the definition of "travel agent"?(Although the word "can" in this sentence suggests that it's not necessarily a limiting phrase, as it would be if it said "Flights must be booked via Qantas...")

Agree. They will NOT give DSC with AA flight numbers.

recent promos have only allowed for QF flight numbers and most often QF *operated* flights as well. An AA codeshare on a QF operated flight won't cut it unfortunately.

back in the day there were some promos with interesting exceptions (there was one which had QF codeshares on EK trans tasman flights as valid for DSC. Guess who cleaned up on EK F flights? :D )...

but they want QF marketed, QF operated for DSC these days.

Hello, the promo flying dates are up to 21 Mar 2023.

If I were to begin a multi-leg journey on 20Mar and I’ve got flights until 22Mar - then I’d only get DSC for the flights taken on 20 and 21 Mar, not the flights that’s part of the same trip departing on 22 Mar. is this correct?

Also, I’m paying J fare, however, due to configuration of the aircraft, one of the legs is going to Y (flex Y, booking class : Y). In this instance, I’ll still be eligible for J SC (and DSC on the J SC). Is this correct?

That’s correct. You earn DSC based on the fare class flown for each leg and the dates flown for each leg.

Edit: should clarify that status credits are based on what you booked not just flew. If you booked flex Y for a leg and upgraded to a Business class seat using points you still earn at the flex Y rate.

Thank you. Then I need to tailor the trip to make sure that all flights depart on/before 21 Mar.

I have 2 vouchers from the booking period and given that we're unlikely to see a DSC in Feb. Worthwhile using it for flights before 21/3?
