Qantas club BA lounge access

Does anybody know what BA lounges Bronze Qantas club members can get access to??? Can you get into Galleries T5???

I'm not sure what they call it but it would be the equivelent J lounge. You need to be flying BA to get access.

So QP membership and travelling on a BA flight Will get you into BA T5 galleries. The QF website says you only get into teracces Thats why I ask

The Qantas website needs a bit an update. The Terraces lounges are being replaced by the Galleries lounges. If you're traveling within Europe, you can try your luck at getting into a non-BA operated lounge outside of the UK. I've had 50-50 luck in doing so.

Its a good idea to print the relevant access entitlement from the web. BA lounge dragons are notorious.

They once made my little girl cry.
I was flying BA First to BNE via BKK. Wife and kids were flying same route on QF in PE, joining in BKK to continue. Dragon wouldn't let me sign in more than 2 into the old T3 J lounge. Very kind other guest comped in the extra kid.

10 mins later lounge manager found us, publicly berated us for breaking the rules and insisted that one had to go. Floods of tears.

Needless to say that was the last time I flew BA by choice. I moved ff scheme to QF from BA and since then I've flown Australia Europe multiple times in j/f with QF and CX. Thus, one small act of pettiness has cost BA in excess of $100k in ticket revenue over the last 4 years.

You should have no problems to get into any of the J Business lounges at LHR (T5 or T3) just make sure you HAVE YOUR QP CARD with you as well as the boarding pass. No card no access, they are dragons... guest is usually fine unless they are full.

Domestically in the BA lounges should also be available if flying BA. Europe (agree) hit and miss, found that shirt (and tie sometimes) generally got me in, jeans and tee shirt got questioned but that may have been just me.:shock:

The lounge dragons like to make kids cry I think, helped another poor traveller in with one of their kids (2 actually via Mrs X and me) but got the worst looks from the lounge staff and was told as I wasn't a guardian I couldn't. Said i didnt have to be a guardian if the person was an adult so I am sure in this case its better to have parental units looking after them and in we walked. Funny now but not at the time.

The relative flexibility of QF lounges in letting you bring your kids into the lounge is actually a really strong selling point for QF. The additional cost to QF versus the goodwill they generate is a great PR investment.

Granted the little blighters have to behave. Mine certainly do as I have the additional threat - sit quietly or your out of the lounge....

Not sure the name of the BA lounge, but I have no problems getting into the one in T5 when you turn left after security. I know there is another one to the right at the other end of teh terminal but i never bother to go there, so can't vouch for that one.

For me this is one of the best lounges I've been in - good spirits/wine compared to syd international business terminal. I wish I could compare the first ones

Anyone else notice that the departure boards have gone missing from the upper T5 terminal?

Twice recently used BA lounges in T5, once when flying in from Chicago and then flying out later that day to Stockholm and then again about 2 weeks later (after flying in from Berlin the day before) flying down to Rome... I turned right after security as I think a BA or airport employee reckoned that was the best one... I think it was just the base level lounge but i was very impressed, best lounge i have been in yet and tried BA, QF, AA and IB on this trip... Much more food on offer than QF lounges (just need some sweets!!), on the first visit there was even a bar tender and i ordered a Cosmopolitan coughtail... lots of drinks and all... if i had been heading out long haul i think i would have been granted access to a facial and/or massage i think they said... This all on just a QFF bronze QP membership...

As an aside i had my wallet stolen/lost in Buenos Aries earlier in the trip so no QP card... Just showed them a QF boarding pass from a flight in Australia showing QP membership, one of the ladies called somewhere, the other just accepted and they let me in... Maybe it was my honest demanour?? This kraut Haus Frau at the desk of the Berlin Tegel BA lounge however was about as uncooperative as they come, so couldn't get in there without my card...

It is still easier if you have your card.

As far as T5 goes, in the main (A) building there are four lounges:

Only had a kind of "problem getting in lounge, not sure who the operator is in BKK though. I handed my club world boarding pass and wanted to take it back and go for a shower and the lady went "can I get your card please, otherwise I can't let you in". I just said "I am flying business you don't need my card" and they let me in... Very strange experience after at least 15 trips through BKK.

Yeah, definitely would be easier to have your card but it was a bit beyond my control...

As an aside i thought afterwards that i could have logged onto qantas.com.au in my frequent flyer area and it shows whether you are a member of the qantas club and when the expiry date is... If I had thought of that in Berlin i might have been able to make the kraut lady see some sense... But she wasn't the most personable type so might still not have worked...

In April, we were able to get FIL & MIL in to the BA T5 lounge (left turn after security) as well as Little Miss. I was worried that we wouldn't all get in (I was QF SG, Mr Katie QP PS, no-one else with QP or status) as technically I think we could only have two guests, not three. Might have helped slightly that 3 of us were in J to CDG.
The lounge lad at the door let us all in without concern.
Very different to my experience at T3 in 2008 when Little Miss was 18mths. She went running out of the lounge while we waited (delayed flight) and the dragon at the door thought I was trying to sneak her in. We didn't evwn get past the roped area leading to the door.
Because a rational human would leave a child that age wandering the terminal while they lounged .... :shaking head:

I've tried to get into lounges in Europe with my QP card with mixed success. I'd have probably a 30% rate of getting into lounges I knew I wasn't entitled to according to the BA terraces/executive, etc rules.

What annoys me the most is when I have to argue to get into somewhere I know I should be allowed in as QP member. BA lounge in Phoenix - certainly nothing to write home about - but having to argue that the colour of my QP bronze card was different to the coughpy printout that they had was so frustrating.

Seriously - I'm Gold now, but I'd pay an extra couple of hundred bucks to get that status with QP if it was possible.

Hello and thank you for this. Am travelling economy with BA to Madrid from terminal 5, LHR. I am QF platinum. I will have a colleague with me who is travelling with me. Do you think I can go to Galleries First, and guest in my colleague? Also, when my children travel with me, I can usually check them in with me at First/Business counter - whichever is relevant. Wonder if BA will allow my colleague to check in with me? Hope you know the answers.

Just on the side : last November I was in London - j class into London, and j class out on same day. Went to lounge. Couldn't find my card, although my boarding pass showed my status. The lady would not let me in until I found it - she was quite adamant. At the same time the spa was opening up, so I thought I'd quickly book that first before tearing my carry on luggage apart to find my card. She wouldn't book the spa either without my card. Needless to say, this year I will definitely make sure I know where my card is!

Yes you can definitely access Galleries First with your colleague, it is a OWE benefit. I'm not sure what the official answer is with regard to priority check in but I have done this several times with guests and no issues.
I have had exactly the same response at LHR regarding presenting my card to book a spa appointment

Went through LHR with dad in September 2009 and I wasn't aware my card had expired in May 2009!

Anyway did not have an issue anywhere except for LHR T5 First Lounge when I handed boarding pass and QFF card. I was told card had expired even though boarding pass had Oneworld Emerald on it. Anyway she called Qantas service somewhere and confirmed I was a current Oneworld Emerald and was allowed access to the First Lounge with dad.

I really cannot understand why they make their job so difficult....

Some at BA think that QC members can only use the lounge if they're on a flight bound for Australia. I promptly gave my friend at BA the QC T&Cs which state otherwise (which she knew due to personal experience of being my guest in the lounge prior to flights to Europe). So be careful as some might try and deny you entry as a QC member.

Just remember though after security you first need to go down one level (except Concord Room), then go to the respective far ends of the terminal to find the escalator that then takes you back up the the lounges. Bloody annoying, no doubt it is BAA's way of making you walk past the duty free shops, just like how they won't show gate details until 1h before the flight.
