Interesting to see this thread. I had my first visit to the MEL Dom J lounge on the Saturday of the ANZAC day weekend and enjoyed a beverage at 12.01 pm. I had just assumed it was a J lounge thing.

Was open when I arrived at 1220 in DRW monday.

It was, for a while. But alas 'tis not the case anymore.

Sad to say in ROK the regional lounge is still a 2PM open , and a big sign on entry that refreshments are not to be taken from the lounge.

Sad to hear that they actually have restrictions in the Lounge now. Previously was all day self-serve from a large fridge and quite often empty when the previous flight of reflective-wear men left.:evil:
I've got some very good QF $55 specials BNE-ROK in Sept for Mrs GF and me to stretch the SC's out a bit during a quiet year.

I had to make do with a cuppa from a flash and some bottle water, and no reflective vests in sight, mind you the BNE QP was full of them, and they really need two baristas on the go in the mornings.

They really should keep the lounge membership for those that pay for or authorise their own travel and are real FFs.

Oops, that would keep not only the reflectives out, but a fair number of others out of the lounge!

Please don't start this again. It has been done to death.

The ROK cupboard has hit a new low of late... not only is the booze removed in the mornings, its also only replaced in very limited quantities at 2pm, and all the beers are light!

I officially drank them dry last week, all three Peronis....

Clearly, ROK does not rock!

Clearly they are trying to stop the "roll";)

These "adjustments" to ROK QP seem to follow on from the departure of Deathstar - curse them.

There were two Peronis there Tuesday afternoon, since when is 4.6% light?

This is why you need to fly international.:p0900 in CX lounge at PVG and everything is available. After the taxi ride to the airport I certainly needed my "shot".

0655 in the JQ Lounge at OOL travelling domestic and everything is available too, also costs a lot less than an international ticket in many cases. :D

Next tome consider the "shot" before the taxi ride

Now if we could get just 7-11s to sell legal liquor here the opening time of the bar at the QP would be irrelevant. Makes you wonder, rarely see bad behavior OS where its 24x7 available hard stuff yet we have set hours here!

Is drinking really worth the effort of going into the qp?
I don't really drink much so always feel ripped off with 'paying' for entry .

If you’re not a drinker then perhaps QP membership/use is worth less to you, but considering how much a beer is at an airport bar, and how many I can safely consume before my flight, it’s extremely good value ;)

Main value to me is when flying long haul and you get into the Int QP (example, SIN or LHR) before next leg of journey and being able to have a shower, drink, snack, check e-mail.
eg, PER (QP drink, snack)-SIN (QP drink, snack)-LHR (BA Lounge, shower, drink, snack, e-mail)-BUD/TXL.
LHR, BA Galleries, 24 hour bar from memory. I was getting weird looks when l was drinking a campari/beer at 7am. Body clock told me it was time for a drink, so l have 1.

Happy travels
