Well one would hope that after getting one warning you are smart enough not to try to enter a lounge with open shoes again.

I've worn them into several QF lounges since. No one has batted an eyelid. And "open shoes" aren't banned anyway, just thongs. (or sandals they think look too much like thongs).

A sore knee would disqualify you from exit rows then

Chapter 2 of my 'Airport Lounge Dress Code' thesis to follow:

I am currently ensconced in TPR after finishing a delicious brekky of fresh fruit, yoghurt and eggs benno all washed down with PH Rare but back OT.

I sought out the SKL Duty Manager to question her re SQ / SKL formal dress code policy and she informs me no such animal exists. If SQ pax purchases a tix that qualifies them for lounge access then they are welcomed in whatever attire they choose to wear - zero restrictions.

I then went on to ask her a series of questions regarding extreme circumstances - her answers here:
1. If a female / male fronts up to lounge barefooted will they be granted entry? YES- no foot wear restrictions at all - this is not an uncommon occurrence.
2. If a male fronts up to lounge bare chested / totally naked from waist up will he be granted entry? YES no clothing restrictions at all - never witnessed to date.
3. If a young female fronts up to lounge in a tiny Brazilian bikini and nothing else will she be granted entry? YES no clothing restrictions at all - not witnessed to date - let's all pray!

There you go - once again clear evidence that QF lead the world in the formulation and application of 'Aiport Lounge Dress Code'

Sorry I cannot flesh this out more but I must quickly scurry off camera in hand in search of that tiny Brazilian bikini wearing young lady!

Always love posting info that will help other AFF members Fm. A couple of points did spring to my mind though:
1. Given CA's less than stringent rules re Lounge Dress Code I would assume that MU have similar Dress Code - ie none. This is going to be so beneficial to the average QF premium cabin frequenting pax as they can now cheerfully arrive into MU's lounge in T1 PVG wearing their much preferred Bintang Singlets, butt creeping Stubbie shorts and their Sunday best thongs - ah that'll be music to so many of the QF DYKWIAers.
2. On a totally serious note - after confirming SQ stance on Lounge Dress Code there are a number of AFF members who claim to have the ears of very senior QF Executives - if change / clarification / modification / tightening / loosening of existing QF Lounge Dress Code is really an issue get about an email / direct contact process and at least have QF take a long hard serious look at it. But then again - I firmly believe QF is indeed a very professional and well run organisation - me thinks Lounge Dress Code is continually reviewed and indeed current policy is a reflection of QF customer demand.

Exactly. And people such as myself, who fly to Australia wearing thongs (or flip-flops or flippies) and with no shoes in our luggage (not having any need for same) can fly in F yet be denied access to QF lounge for connecting domestic flights.

Ah huh - pls read Pt 2 again MEL - there are AFF members hear who claim to have the ears of Senior QF Executives - call me simple but standardising dress code across ALL lounges would kinda make sense IMHO - hell Red Roo might even tuck that thought into his / her pouch and deliver back to the important people in QF.

AFF can play a very important role here - problem highlighted over and over - QF are great at contributing info to AFF - maybe this could be one classic example where all parties can contribute to an outcome that suits the majority.

Or maybe we are already there - maybe some Mavericks* just refuse to head warnings - policy is set - like it or lump it!

<Sigh> Hrummmph ... That's the problem with the nouveau riche ... don't know their place and can't adhere to standards. Never go into a lounge without the proper attire is what I say. If I see anyone in thongs and/or shorts in a lounge I assume they are my Club's beach waiters a bit lost, but they can ruddy well bring me a G&T anyway, or else they'll feel the sharp end of my cane.

When checking in overseas, ask the attendant to put a "First" tag on one of your thongs.
Domestic lounge dragons will see this and allow you to wear your thongs in their lounge.

If you wish to use Qantas lounges, then it appears you do have need of something other than thongs!

I'm curious; do you fly half way round the world and pack no shoes at all, only thongs (for 2 of you, as you say 'our luggage')? Maybe its singlets only too, no shirts (male) nor blouses (female)?

Lounges are not 'the beach' - they are invitation-only shared spaces. Travel light and go thongs-only if you like but the Qantas lounge isn't the only place you won't get admission into.
