Qantas Club Dress Standards...Stubbies, singlet and thongs....What the???

Clause 10.7 asks guest to follow "our smart casual dress guidelines", so where is a copy of those guidelines available? It refers to bare feet and thongs specifically therefore any other type of open shoe is acceptable such as Birkenstock. All beachwear is out. What is beachwear? What is 'smart casual'? And where does hi-viz fit into this equation? It is specifically workwear as is a business suit which means that is not permitted as it is not 'smart casual' either and a dinner suit will certainly be unacceptable too as it does not meet the standard of 10.7. Clause 10.7 does not stand up to scrutiny.

Looks like the dress code does not apply on Sundays as I saw a guy in the MEL QP with sandals (not dress ones) who has his iPad blaring out aloud. To be honest the later behaviour is more annoying than the non-compliance with the dress code.

Not according to a Dr. friend of mine, always a well dressed woman, she was knocked back recently due to open sandals and after a long haul flight, not happy and justified too.

Her shoes look like rubber thongs, but with an extra strap. They are obvious on the no access list. But I'd love clarification from Red Roo/QF on open toe sandals that pretty much every woman will be wearing for the next few months (like the ones below). Dont know about you but I'm not carrying enclosed shoes when I head to Cairns next week....

Back on topic, the dress code was well publicized. Just because she has some status as a celebrity, it doesn't mean that the dress code doesn't apply to her.

Agree, however they are two very separate issues that can be policed on an individual basis.

I'd also suggest you not try and enter a QF Lounge.

The dress code is only for Domestic lounges. So PER international lounge is not thongs-free.

This is not so much to do with celebrity status... although that helps get the message out there pretty quickly... I think what QF is missing is that the policy should be seen in the overall 'look' of what someone is wearing. I think overall it's reasonable casual wear.

Qantas has totally lost the plot. Off the charts ridiculous. Yet it's okay to be a beer swilling smelly dude in high viz and come in. The Spirit of Australia! She should have grabbed a few plastic bags at the shop and tied them over her feet.
