Is there some licensing reason for the 1 p.m. opening of the bar, or is it just because that is when QF feel is the right time?
If the bar can be open all the time in Intl lounges, then it should be the same for domestic QC

The bar at Int lounges are airside and may fall under different rules, however I suspect it is a cost management practice. I'm sure those extra 2 hours would equate to several million a year off the bottom line. Especially around these woods.

Tip for the day: You can generally book flight MEL- SYD on domestic sectors of international flights and avail yourself of the Int. QC bar.

*hick*

i am beginning a couple of months of regular international travel from the east coast of oz next week.

i am happy that i will get access to the International QP in BNE and SYD ... this means i can have some Breakfast Beers  no 1pm start there ...

Seriously though, as others have said, i try to feed myself before i get on the plane so that i can sleep as much as possible.

if QF do change the food menu my vote would be for Bacon Double Cheese Burgers to be served along with KFC chips with extra seasoning!

I will be in ADL on Sunday from 10am-12noon and meeting another AFF'er so we decided to meet in Cooper's Ale House at ADL airport rather than QP because of the 1pm rule!

Please tell me Cooper's Ale House is open early enough and serves real alcoholic beer.

Yeah, it was open when I was there (just after 11). Couldn't tell you what time it opened - but it was full of people.

Thanks. There will be an extra 2 in the crowd at Cooper's Ale House on Sunday.

Before Ansett failed, east-coast domestic QPs (& GW's) did not commence liquor service until 3pm.

There were some irregular tweaks for daylight saving in SE QLD QPs.

AFAIK, After AN went belly up, the QP's simply became far too crowded on weekdays after 3pm with the extra business PAX, so Qantas began to open the bars two hours earlier in an effor to spread the load.

It is certainly a financial measure.

Platy

and if you're lucky enough to go to the miniature lounges in places like ROK and MKY (great cos the bar fridge is always open so no worries about the 1pm drinking start) they have copious quantities of PLASTIC CHEESE AND CRACKERS and fruit cake!!!

I'm very protective of the ROK lounge - now you've gone and spread the secrets of the sumptuous cheese and cracker bowls! If you pretend, ROK & MKY are just little versions of the international lounges.

When I first joined QC it was well renowned as the QF Temperance Club due to its modest opening hour - and nothing's changed!

Justinbrett - I am with U!!
