Hmmm - might have to get back to WP again!
The strange thing is - I can't remember how it was that I got to WP in the first place about 15 years ago! I do probably should do whatever is necessary to get it again though - it was nice to have!

Picked up one last week SYD-AKL, unfortunately not on QF3.
OLCI right at T-24 into my Y seat then a short while later logged back into the app and saw the upgrade gods had smiled.

In February I was flying ICN-SYD, logged in to check something and noticed I was booted from my exit row seat. Really unhappy until I realised I was now in business. Surely not? Got to the airport and it was true. They couldn't tell me why, I was on a sale fare so no upgrade path, etc., and I chose not to push it

Good things sometimes happen to Gold too.

Why am I not surprised by this largess? After 18 years a Platinum, I just dropped back (end May) to Lifetime Gold which clearly doesn't register on their system. I do enjoy my Qatar Platinum and their First lounge in Doha, on top of the caviar in Business :)

Had one last week SYD-CHC and also got QF33 Paris PJ's in the F lounge. A very happy day!

I've had a couple of free biz upgrades from Sunshine Coast to Sydney and one from Sydney to Perth, very unexpected but it was defiantly welcomed

Seriously - this is not new. Maybe Qantas hasn't been doing it in recent years but in the past it wasn't uncommon.

What do you mean by recent years? I've been flying QF for 15 years, at least eight of those as WP, and have only had one opup in all that time. It was a female UM travelling BNE-SYD in which I was upgraded to keep the seat occupied next to her in J with the rest of the cabin being males.

True, I've been flying Qantas for 40+ years so maybe my definition of 'recent' is not the same as yours. Either way, it's good to hear they are doing this again.

Used to get them regularly back in the 90's - check post one of this thread ...

And I thought it was just me!

Two weeks ago MEL-ADL and SYD-WLG up to J, all in the same week. I had heard that the SYD-WLG upgrade was because the flight was full because of a cancelled Air NZ flight, but then again perhaps not. Doing WLG-MEL-DRW-ADL-SYD-WLG in two weeks time so fingers crossed.

Had one recently on the 330 early bird service Per-Mel. Nice after being swamped by the orange and yellow FIFO brigade in the airport.
No doubt in the lounges too.
