Qantas Cricket Safety video

Noted the presence of the Aussie Cricket Team heading through baggage collection at SYD T3 this morning. I didn't recognise a single one of 'em, except for Ian Healey from the commentary team (I'm so over cricket, honestly it's boring now-a-days). Anyway I couldn't help wondering if they show the requisite respect to the cabin crew by watching themselves on that awful and overly-loud video. I watch it fellas, and I hate it. We've had Travolta, we've had the cricketers - bring on Joycey maybe this is one thing he'd be good at?

Well I love my cricket (I must be the only one) but my cringe goes into overdrive with this one. Luckily I've hardly flown QF in ages. Instead I have to put up with Super Sally's voiceover on VA/DJ. Am I the only one who can hear that lisp? Or has it been slightly off the channel on every flight I've every been on since it started?

Was on QF81 SYD-ADL today and...guess what? No Cricket safety video!

Whilst I didn't actually SEE the video (was in 23J with the monitor stowed), it sounds like the video has been simplified considerably. No music whatsoever, just the "HELLO-captain" and a voice over. The intonation of the person doing the voice over becomes reeeeeeeally grating after about 30 seconds.

Will be interested to see if the new video is shown on the QF692 tomorrow evening!

Oh by the way..."You're the reason we fly" has been dropped from the end of the video. The concluding line is now:

"...so sit back and enjoy your flight knowing you're in very safe hands."

I was on QF431 today. Video definitely still being played.

Perhaps the CSM just fast-forwarded the cringe part. I have been on a few flights where they have done that.

Or the CSM can hit the "Stop" button before the team leaves the cabin to a round of applause (equally cringe worthy).

If what Brettmcg mentioned is true for all flights, it is good news indeed. Maybe also appropriate given that summer officially ends today (and autumn starts tomorrow)

You can relive the glory days of that old video by flying JQi today. They have using that old Qantas safety video for a while - must have coming pre-installed in the entertainment (okay maybe a change in airline name was needed) when QF handed the A332's over to JQ.

Good on the cabin crew for doing something about it. The Captain/Captain/Skipper routine was cheesy , but the clapping was just downright embarrassing.

While I'm sure there are certain things that need to be covered in the vid, I wonder how much (if any) tests are done on these safety movies?

Listen to the new one without watching the video and its difficult to follow because of the various tones of voices.

Agree, why don't they do something pax will want to watch?

Anything is better that the cricket video. Had my first flight with the new staff video yesterday. Like the fact that the overall voice over was not talking down at you (like a Channel 9 infotainment presenter) and that the sample passengers were not all blonde. We are, after all, a multicultural nation and not just that strange southern Scandinavian one that QF were making vids for until recently.
