Qantas Customers on Jetstar Operated Flights (Is Qantas Service Included?)

I have purchased an economy ticket from Sydney to Tokyo with Qantas, but the flight is a JQ.
Does it mean I will have no meal, blanket, pillow... etc provided for the 10 hours?

I have paid a Qantas price, and am a bit concern that I will receive Jetstar quality service.
It would be quite upsetting if I need to purchase everything while onboard.

The flight numbers are JQ402, and then connecting to JQ11.

Friends of mine did DRW SIN on a QF number in conjunction with flights to Europe and they got food an blanket free of charge. This was last year though so things might have changed

If paid ticket, I think you get food/blanket for free. If on an award booking .... you get a seat and luggage and that's it.

At least you can expect you will be getting Jetstar service...I have had plenty of opportunities where I received Jetstar service even after paying and being in a Qantas metal!!!

So what, they charged you extra for things such as meals and IFE where by they would normally be included?
I don't see how QF on QF metal can give JQ service without installing EFTPOS machines on their meal trolleys.

If Qf1 is referring to the service provided by QF F/As, I can cite multiple examples where I have received QF service on JQ!

If you are on JQ code then you will have to pay for extras, such as meals, in flight entertainment and blankets/pillows. If you purchased from the QF website as part of a ticket that includes QF sectors I think luggage may be included. If you booked on the QF website and it redirected you to the Jetstar website, luggage probably isn't included in the ticket.

then you have purchased a Jetstar flight and its exactly the same as if you had purchased it from Jetstar web site or from a travel agent. Just because you purchased the flights from the Qantas web site does not make it a Qantas product. You won't have any special inclusions just because you purchased the Jetstar flights from the Qantas web site.

I agree with you 100%. The point here is the inconsistent 'QF service'... Giving a customer a trip on JQ when he was made to think he would be flying QF is cheating? I think Service starts the moment you are book a ticket not just the few hours you are on a flight.

The QF site does say what the flight number is, who the operating carrier is and when on a JQ flight what the go for meals is.

The info is there especially if booking the JQ flight numbers.

Sorry but the fault does not lie with QF on this one.

No it is not, the website clearly labels that you are flying JQ, and from the search that I just did will re-direct you to the JQ site.

It is nothing like buying from the Gucci website.

The QF website is generally pretty clear that you're buying a JQ flight. If they don't give you a QF flight number at all (eg when we booked Classic award seats SYD-HNL we were given QF 283 and 284, the flights were J* 003 & 004) then, as others have said, I believe you're getting JQ service levels.

I flew MEL-SIN recently, booked on QF website by client with other QF sectors included. Even as a WP, got no seat allocation (no bundle), no meal, no IFE, no blanket. Never again.

Unfortunately, i think the OP will be in the same boat. JQ service, nothing free.

There are others who truly believe that Qantas should be thankful they are still around as Jetstar is their saviour and without them they would have faded away into nothingness.

I totally agree. Qantas has been getting away displaying JQ flights on their website for far too long. I have now found a way of totally avoiding JQ flights on the QF website.

Bait and switch is bait and switch, who can be reasonably expected to wade through fine print that only frequent flyers would understand....

How can they justify selling JQ fares for more than QF ones without inclusions, more importantly stack them all together as if they are the same product then hide some exclusions in size 6 font at the bottom that wont normally show up any way until people scroll down to continue.....gotcha!
