Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF10 6/2 diverted to Singapore according to FR24.

It will now depart SIN at 1645 tomorrow and arrive MEL arriving 0315 on Wednesday morning.

Todays QF9 will now depart at midday tomorrow (after a 380 replacement ferry from SYD) and terminate at DXB. This also means the QF2 (LHR-DXB sector) is cancelled on Tuesday.

Lots of disruptions due to weather in Sydney.

QF2041 from DBO and QF2165 from PQQ both had to return back because of weather.

Lots of disruptions due to weather in Sydney.

Marrickville near SYD received 48 millimetres of rain in an hour (almost two inches under the old scale - Jakarta, KL or Manila proportions.)

QF2004, the noon SYD - TMW was another QantasLink flight to get the boot, as was QF1485, the mid afternoon 1500 hours from SYD to CBR. The later scheduled 1355 hours QF2010 on the same route departed at about 1435. QF2046 from SYD to DBO was suggested as departing half an hour behind schedule at 1540 but that time has come and gone.

QF1517 SYD - CBR (the 1655 hours) has been cancelled.

QF685, the early afternoon 1330 hours MEL - SYD took off at 1429. Earlier, QF423 arrived from SYD into MEL at about 1245 hours, 70 minutes late.

QF431, the 'high noon' 1200 hours SYD - MEL arrived at about 1510, 95 minutes behind schedule.

Adding to Tuesday 7 February delays, QF11, the 1130 hours SYD - LAX departed 57 minutes late with suggested same day arrival as 0700, 45 minutes delayed.

It's 0100hrs .Well it can't possibly be ATC issues at SFO causing the delayed departure of QF74. Still not boarding with no definite boarding time. Other airplanes are departing normally.

And the aircraft is not at the gate

Also on Tuesday 7 February, QF149, the 1840 hours SYD - AKL was expected to depart at 2015 with Wednesday 8 landing suggested as 0115, 80 minutes tardy.

QF2217 (1855 hours from SYD down to ABX) departed at 1931 with landing predicted at 1047, about 45 late.

The 1900 hours SYD - PQQ QF2178 departed 62 minutes late.

Godspeed, Quickstatus. It won't console you that generally QF74 has a good timekeeping record.

In other presumably rain-related SYD delays on Tuesday 7 February, QF63, the 1135 hours SYD longhaul to JNB departed at 1302 early this afternoon. Arrival is suggested as two hours late at 1835, meraning a delayed departure for tonight's QF64 back to SYD.

QF129 (1055 hours SYD up to PVG) pushed back at 1246 for an estimated arrival at 2035 this evening, 125 minutes tardy.

The 1100 QF127 from SYD to HKG departed at 1215; arrival is suggested as 1825, an hour behind schedule.

QF81 for SIn departed SYD at 1240, 85 minutes tardy with suggested arrival as 1820, 110 minutes late.

The 1250 hours SYD - SCL longhaul, QF27 did not get away until 1530 so arrival should be at around 1250 hours same day, an even 100 minutes behind time, delaying the returning QF28.

The usually punctual QF7 from SYD across to DFW did not depart at 1435 but instead at 1533 with predicted arrival 40 down at 1340.

Qf74 from Feb6 is delayed 24 hrs. It requires engineering support from LAX

A lot of passengers given rooms at Residence inn at the airport.
J pax told they can book hotels themselves with a credit of $250pp.

hotels are heavily booked tonight. There was a motivational speaker in Union square taking up all the rooms. Found one in Parc55 for $400
Couod have rerouted tomorrow from via LAX on QF12 but it would get me in 30min earlier. Decided not to go there.

A$250 (or even US$250) is acceptable as a per person reimbursement for J class passengers if travelling as a couple.

However given USA major city hotel room rates it comes across as stingy for the majority of J class travellers who I daresay would be solo. I doubt if there is a motivational speaker in town drawing a crowd that A$250 or even US$250 would cover the cost of any half reasonable hotel room. Fleapit anyone (although in fairness, perhaps one could find a suburban motel room if prepared to travel to and from.

As usual, nothing beats a reporter on the spot so thank you Quickstatus.

Yes let's see if that "regular" practice remains regular.

the $250pp excludes incidentals

I have thought of the possibility that the aircraft remains unserviceable and that I should rerouted via LAX and QF12 but I think the Tuesday's a380 would be a 747 and I have good seats already so it's a toss up.

I remember about 10 years ago I was denied boarding due to the flight from SIN-SYD on SQ being overbooked. SQ agent gave us SIN$500 each as compo to take another flight 4 hours later. As there were 5 of us it was $2500. It was done properly because it was not a promissory note or a voucher just cold hard cash that came out of the top drawer indicating it was a regular practice - that's a regular practice I like. Additionally we also had $100 pp voucher to spend in the airport on meals etc.
But we were travelling in Y!
