Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Tuesday 5 September, QF673, the 0730 hours MEL to ADL was cancelled. The same fate affected QF420, 0930 hours scheduled from MEL up to SYD.
 
Tuesday 5 September's QF15 from BNE to LAX is predicted to commence its pushing back at 1210 hours, 110 minutes late. Arrival same day should be at about 0735, 95 late, which in turn will delay QF11's transcontinental USA flight, and then QF12 back to LAX from JFK, and in turn QF16 back to BNE. The saga continues.

QF29 (1020 hours MEL - HKG) has been cancelled.
 
I'm on this tomorrow. Sp what will happen to the pax and will there be any effect on tomorrow's load?

My (selfish) concern is for my seat upgrade.

Hvr, perfectly understandable concern.

I would not panic, because even with the removal of the oldest B744 if I am not mistaken (and Flyerqf will soon fill us in if I am!), the QF longhaul fleet may not always be fully utilised on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Perhaps should it need to QF may fly an aircraft down from Sydney to form your QF29. You may also be 'downgauged.'

One would hope that if there is an aircraft change that you soon receive notification.
 
If it has been cancelled, then another aircraft won't operate it (of any kind)

I believe he was referring to will they have an aircraft to operate tomorrows flight. Not todays which as stated is Cancelled.

QF29 is an A333 service and these are not fully utilised on Tuesdays but they are on Wednesdays.
 
559 cxl tonight SYD-BNE. Told that frame was needed elsewhere. All seats on all earlier flights now full. Pretty surprised there were that many WP+ on that flight to not get a single available seat out tonight...
 
On Wednesday 6 September, QF15, the 1020 hours BNE - LAX departed at 1047 hours with arrival suggested as 40 minutes late, same day, at 0640.

QF442 (1500 hours midafternoon MEL - SYD) was cancelled. So was QF818, the 1525 hours MEL up to CBR. Laster, QF2132 (1805 hours MEL - CBR) and QF460 (1830 hours MEL - SYD) are also not running.

Tuesday 5's scheduled 2320 hours late evening LAX departure of QF16 to BNE has been delayed until at least 0030 this morning. Consequently arrival is not predicted to be befor4e 0650 hours, 40 late, on Thursday 7.

QF2 has returned to DXB. Article quotes a pressurisation issue and earlier reports of a malfunctioning climate control unit but these are currently unconfirmed.

Thank you milehighclub. The QF website suggests (presumably incorrectly) that QF2 will arrive in SYD four and a half hours late at 0940 on Thursday 7 September.

More definitively, QF suggests that the Thursday QF7 (normally timetabled as a 1230 hours out of olde Sydney town bound for DFW) will instead commence pushing back at 0850 on Friday 8, meaning likely arrival at 0925 on Friday rather than 1300 hours on Thursday, so almost 20 hours behind time.

In turn QF8, the timetabled 2215 hours late night departure on Thursday 7 will be badly delayed, but the proposed times have yet to publicly display.
 
Thursday 7 September's QF7 from SYD to DFW has now been cancelled, so QF8 will suffer the same fate.

QF1 on Thursday departed 55 minutes late at 1645 with DXB arrival suggested as 0059 on Friday 8, 34 minutes tardy.

The defective A388, VH-oQJ looks to have taken off from DXB at 1500 hours this afternoon with Friday 8 SYD arrival predicted as 1004 hours.

On Friday 8 September, QF81, 1025 hours SYD - SIN is expected to depart at 1100.

QF63, the 1050 hours from SYD to JNB is predicted to depart 40 minutes late.

Monday 11 September 2017 sees QF575 (the 0810 hours SYD across to PER with A332 VH-EBO) not having become airborne until 0914, so arrival is delayed to an expected 1155 hours, 40 minutes behind time.
 
Later on 11 September 2017, QF703 from CNS down to MEL, the 1315 hours that took off at 1343 only about 15 minutes late is not expected to arrive until 1705, half an hour tardy. B738 VH-VXF has the task.
 
QF94 ex LAX on Sunday 10 September (A388 VH-OQG) creditably departed seven minutes early at 2203 - not a daily occurrence - but there the fun stopped.

It diverted to SYD, making this intermediate stop from 0620 to 0706 (although it did not manage to take off at this busy time until 0748, which is very slow) and looks to be arriving MEL at about 0910, more than two hours late. In turn this morning's QF93 from MEL back to LAX will be delayed until at least 1055 hours in its departure.

Was this a medical diversion, a famous Quickstatus 'splash and dash' to take on additional fuel or due to another reason?

QF130, the overnight PVG down to SYD with A333 VH-QPC took off last night 68 minutes after its scheduled 1955 hours departure and this morning (12 September) should arrive at around 0909 hours, 39 late, so it will have made up a little time on a gate-to-gate basis.

QF415, the 0700 hours SYD - MEL has been cancelled.

The 0730 hours 12 September QF703 from MEL across to ADL with B738 VH-XZI did not become airborne until 0811, meaning forecast arrival at 0856 hours, 36 minutes late. This will delay QF676, the timetabled 0855 hours ADL - MEL until an estimated 9839 hours in its departure for the Victorian capital. It is quite common for airlines to schedule an aircraft from SYD across to ADL and then to MEL or vice versa, rather than a simple SYD - ADL return working.
