A330-200 has an engineering issues a small door stopper that does not break often in the cargo door area broke and the Sydney based engineers are unable to repair that particular piece!

Earlier on Tuesday 22 August 2017, QF23, the 0950 hours SYD - BKK took off at 1104 with A333 VH-QPA. Arrival will be at 1719 late afternoon, 39 minutes late. This may slightly delay departure of tonight's QF24 ex BKK.

fairbasa, the Monday 21 August QF1 pushed back in MEL a creditable three minutes early at 2255, arriving DXB on 22 August at 08707 hours, two minutes late.

It did not however depart until 1151 (166 minutes tardy) so LHR arrival is suggested as 1555 hours, 105 minutes behind schedule. This should be in plenty of time to form a punctual QF2 ex LHR tonight, touch wood.

Tuesday 22's QF9 has been delayed from its usual 0915 hours MEL departure until the extremely unusual time "tonight" of 0030 on Wednesday 23 August, meaning likely LAX arrival at 2135 instead of 0630 hours. QF94 is expected to depart LAX at 0005 hours on Wednesday 23 instead of its usual 2210 hours on Tuesday 22, resulting in suggested MEL arrival on Thursday 80 minutes tardy at 0815. This rushed schedule means the A388 has no time for maintenance in LAX. This morning, QF93 was meant to be VH-OQF.

Do these A388s undergo lengthy maintenance (more than just a couple of hours, but no more than the gap between arrival in the morning and departure late at night) every time they are in LAX or is it on a cyclical (plus emergency) basis only? QF made a recent multi million dollar investment in LAX for such aircraft maintenance.

Monday 21 August's QF12 departed JFK at 1853, 43 minutes late, arriving LAX at 2222, 82 minutes late so it may have been delayed in commencing its take off roll.

With the change in aircraft, QF12 then left the USA west coast at 2333 hours, 63 minutes late. SYD arrival on Wednesday 23 is anticipated at 0700, 40 minutes late in a case of (JFK to SYD) 'swings and roundabouts' to use that old expression.

QF16 departed LAX at 0033 today (Tuesday - 73 late) with Wednesday 23 August at gate arrival suggested as 0711 hours, 61 minutes late.

Neither of these delays should delay QFi outbound flights ex SYD tomorrow.

Wednesday 23 August sees QF94 arriving in MEL at 0733, 38 minutes late with A388 VH-OQH. A few hours ago this flight was displaying as less than half an hour late.

Typhoon Hato is expected to bear down on HKG on Wednesday (meaning flight cancellations) but in a precursor, QF30 (B744 VH-OJU), the overnight HKG - MEL is likely to arrive at 0820, 40 minutes late.

Typhoon Hato is expected to bear down on HKG on Wednesday (meaning flight cancellations) but in a precursor, QF50 (B744 VH-OJU), the overnight HKG - MEL is likely to arrive at 0820, 40 minutes late.

Do you mean QF30?? not QF50!!

Typhoon Hato is expected to bear down on HKG on Wednesday (meaning flight cancellations)

The flights to HKG will be bad today.. QF127, 29 and 97 (ex SYD, MEL, BNE) will be severely impacted by this typhoon.. be prepared to arrive into HKG really late, and will impact the return flights QF128 & QF 30 (SYD & MEL).. QF 98 to BNE have no departure info as yet.. but be prepared to expect the same!

Yes, QF127, the 1000 SYD - HKG has been altered to depart three and a half hours late at 1330 on Wednesday 23 August. The MEL - HKG QF29 is worse, with expected departure altered from 1020 to 1730, meaning arrival at a suggested 0004 hours on Thursday 24 August, 364 minutes late.

QF97 from BNE up to HKG is predicted to depart at 1400 hours rather than 1050, so arrival will be at 2035 rather than 1800, if not later.

The delays to flights presumably means that tonight HKG airport will be extremely busy accepting and dispatching flights that would normally occupy slots during the day.

Also on Wednesday 23 August, QF404 (0630 hours MEL up to SYD, A332 VH-EBA) had a very late start as it was not in the sky until 0824. Expected arrival is at 0930 hours, 95 minutes tardy. It had spent overnight in MEL after arriving ex PER on QF776, slightly ahead of time at about 2221 on 22 August.

QF129 (0935 hours morning SYD - PVG) is not forecast to depart until 1110 with resultant arrival an estimated 2010 this evening, 100 minutes late and certain to mean a delayed QF130 from PVG back to SYD overnight.

Tuesday 22 August's A388, QF2, has been delayed overnight in LHR from its usual 2135 hours departure at this time of year to 0850 hours on Wednesday 23 August (the latter being 1750 AEST late this afternoon our time if on the Oz east coast.)

QF2 should stop in DXB from an expected 1825 to 1955 tonight local time, arriving SYD tomorrow at around 1515 hours instead of the timetabled pre-curfew 0510 hours.

The delay is due to (contrary to previous advice above) how Monday 21's QF9 ex MEL (A388 VH-OQG) spent from 0707 hours on Tuesday 22 to 0235 this morning (23 August) local time in DXB and hence is not arriving in LHR until 0655 hours on 23 August.

In further for Wednesday 23 August 2017, QF73 (1300 hours early afternoon SYD - SFO) departed 61 minutes late; arrival - same day - is predicted at 1006 hours, 36 minutes tardy.

QF117 (SYD - HKG) was cancelled. The 1000 hours BNE up to HKG, QF97, has been further delayed in its departure until an expected 1800 early this evening, meaning likely HKG arrival at 0035 on Thursday 24 August.

Later on 23 August, QF478 (1845 hours early evening MEL to SYD with B738 VH-VYC) took off at 1842, so arrival is estimated at 2053, 48 minutes late.

QF458, the earlier scheduled 1800 hours on the same route was in the sky at 1902; B738 VH-VZL is predicted to arrive at 2010, 45 minutes late.

Another MEL up to SYD flight, QF464, the 1930 hours with B738 VH-VYB took off at 2021; arrival is expected at 2129 hours, 34 late.

VH-VZL on QF846, the evening 2020 hours SYD - DRW was in the sky at 2102. It should be at the gate at 0103 hours, 33 minutes late.

The 15 hour delayed QF93 that departed MEL at 0042 hours early on Wednesday 23 August arrived LAX at 2218 hours instead of 0635 hours.]

It did not turn around particularly quickly, departing LAX at 0129 hours today, 199 minutes tardy. Thursday 24 August arrival should be at 0955 hours, 180 minutes (exactly three hours) behind schedule. Touching wood, QF expects Thursday's QF93 to depart at 1150, 155 late for a same day LAX arrival at 0905 hours, 150 minutes tardy.

Tuesday 22's overnight delayed QF2 from LHR departed this morning (23 August) at 0906 hours, 691 minutes late. The DXB stop is expected to last from 1930 to 2055 which, while optimistic, is not impossible. As 105 minutes is allowed for the intermediate stop this would assist in regaining a bit of the lost time. SYD arrival on Thursday 24 August is forecast as 1610 tomorrow afternoon instead of 0510 hours.

Despite this severe delay, none of the QF A388 SYD departures on Thursday are as yet displaying as likely to be delayed.

Updating the previous post, the overnight delayed QF2 (A388 VH-OQG) was in DXB on Wednesday 23 August from 1921 to 2143 hours, meaning that SYD arrival today (Thursday 24) is even tardier than projected at 1744 late this afternoon instead of 0510 hours.

Thursday 24's QF1 is therefore predicted to depart from SYD at 1930 (with an absolute minimum turnaround) instead of 1550, stop in DXB from 0335 to 0500 on Friday 25 - optimistic, but again, not impossible - and arrive LHR at 0940 instead of the scheduled 0655 hours.

Due to Typhoon Hato, QF128 from HKG down to SYD (B744 VH-OJU) on Wednesday 23, the scheduled mid evening 2015 hours did not depart until 0308 on Thursday 24 with consequent predicted arrival at 1400 hours instead of the timetabled 0710 hours, 410 minutes late. This looks to be the cause of delay for QF73, the long flight from SYD across the Pacific to SFO that is forecast to depart at 1555 hours instead of 1300, with same day arrival suggested as 1230, 180 minutes late.

QF98 from HKG was also delayed as yesterday QF97 had been altered to a much later departure. QF98 left HKG at 0233 hours this morning (393 minutes behind time) with BNE arrival suggested as 1323 instead of 0645, 398 late. In turn this will delay QF51, the timetabled 1200 'high noon' to a 1435 hours departure with likely Lion City arrival as 2035 hours, 135 minutes tardy.

Proving that bad things happen in threes, QF30 from HKG to MEL (B744 VH-OJT) did not depart until 2231 last night, 141 late with arrival on Thursday 24 expected at 0920, 100 minutes late. In projecting a 95 minute turnaround, QF is being too optimistic as it claims QF29 will be able to commence pushback at 1055 (35 late) with arrival only five minutes late at 1805 early tonight.

The PVG - SYD QF130 has been delayed due to the late arrival yesterday of QF129. 130 is forecast to arrive in SYD on Thursday 24 at 1018 hours, 108 minutes behind schedule. At this stage (sometimes it can alter) this A333 will form QF81, the 1025 SYD - SIN at a revised departure of 1115 hoursand expected Lion City arrival 45 minutes late at 1735 late afternoon.

Due to the inbound delay to QF30, Thursday 24 August's QF29 departed MEL at 1140, 80 minutes late (not the '1055 hours QF had unrealistically predicted above. ) HKG arrival at a suggested 1830 will only be half an hour behind.

The delay to QF81 (1025 hours SYD - SIN) proved longer than forecast with departure at 1205 (100 minutes tardy) meaning suggested arrival at 1820 early this evening, 90 minutes behind schedule.

QF597 (1700 hours BNE - PER that was airborne at 1752 with B738 VH-XZK) should arrive at 2107 hours, 32 late.

...In turn this will delay QF51, the timetabled 1200 'high noon' to a 1435 hours departure with likely Lion City arrival as 2035 hours, 135 minutes tardy....

QF51 on Thursday 24 August has turned into an estimated 2000 hours departure with suggested SIN arrival at 0155 hours on Friday 25, 460 minutes late. Passengers waiting in SIN for QF52 to BNE have a long night ahead - perhaps for those lacking access to an official lounge the Changi 'recliners' may come in handy. Departure is estimated at 0300 hours meaning arrival at 1215, 360 minutes (six hours) late.

Advice from passengers as to what has caused the additional delay would be great.

Wednesday 23's QF12 pushed back in JFK at 1921, 71 minutes tardy, arriving LAX at 2205 hours, 65 late. The different aircraft - an A388 - then departed the movie city at a very late 0045 hours this morning (24) with SYD Friday 25 arrival suggested as 0740, 80 late. QF94 to MEL and Qf16 to BNE departed LAX each close to an hour late but are predicted to be less than half an hour late arriving on Friday morning.

QF11 ex SYD is a 744 today.
This is going to prove problematic tomorrow. There are 5 744 flights ex SYD scheduled (25, 27, 63, 73 and 127) but only 4 aircraft inbound. The 744 fleet is fully utilised on a Friday but with 11/12 utilising a frame, it leaves them one short.

None of these flights are showing delays or an aircraft change at this stage. But it's highly likely that the QF64 will turnaround to operate a delayed QF73 or perhaps QF27, and QF25 bumped to the following morning when QF12 arrives back.

Flyerqf, you certainly know how to 'put the mozz on' as looking at the QF website, QF25 (for the second time in about 10 days) on Friday 25 August, the scheduled 2045 hours mid evening SYD - NRT is expected to instead depart at 1345 hours on Saturday 26, arriving HND at 2210 hours instead of the timetabled 0515 super early morning arrival. This will mean a delayed departure for QF26 on Friday 25 August late evening - to about midnight. The latter is still incorrectly displaying on the QF website as punctual.

QF73 looks tomorrow (Friday 25) to be departing four hours late at 1700 hours from SYD for a suggested 1315 hours arrival in SFO, 225 minutes tardy. As you suggested, this delay is due to it having to wait for the arrival of QF64 from JNB at a scheduled 1455 into SYD. Fortunately QF63 is only expected to be 11 minutes late arriving at JNB today (1711 hours) so in theory there's no reason QF64 could not depart South Africa on time and even arrive SYD a little early if conditions were not super unfavourable.

QF had an elderly B744 that apparently required extremely costly, major maintenance to keep in service (and which it got rid of to the USA desert) but when B744 delays occur, thoughts of AFFer JohnPhelan's comment about the unwise withdrawal of two previous B744s come to mind.

QF546 (1830 hours SYD - BNE) was cancelled as was QF1495, the 1935 hours SYD short hop to CBR.

Also on 24 August, QF580, the 1230 hours lunchtime PER across to SYD that did not become airborne until 1706 is arriving at 2246 hours, 246 late with A332 VH-EBK.
