Tuesday 19 December has seen QF565 (0620 hours early morning SYD across to PER) not depart until 0714 with arrival at 0908, 53 late.

QF2221, 0805 hours SYD - WGA departed 31 minutes tardy, arriving at 0947, 32 late. QF2164 (SYD - PQQ) was 36 late away, in its case at 0906, so it was at its allocated tarmac space at 1016, also 36 late.

The 1030 hours SYD - BKK was 53 minutes behind schedule in initial pushback, but is expected to make up quite a bit with arrival suggested 29 late at 1639.

QF741, the 1045 hours SYD across to ADL got away 39 late but did not improve, arriving in the wine capital at 1302 hours, 42 late.

The 1225 hours MEL - SIN (QF35) pushed back 36 late; arrival looks to be at 1805, 40 minutes behind.

Another late B744 was QF63 that commenced its long flight ex SYD at 1303 hours, 88 late. Expected JNB arrival is at 1713 local time, 38 minutes late.

The badly delayed QF9 (A388 VH-OQH) departed MEL at 0533 hours, 33 later than QF had predicted (and 358 minutes late) for Tuesday 19 December. The DXB stop is expected to be 1255 (385 minutes tardy) to 1400 hours with LHR arrival at 1815 hours, 330 minutes late.

I have yet to observe a DXB intermediate stop taking just 65 minutes: the best is around 75 minutes. However it is often possible to pick up time gate-to-gate between DXB and LHR.

If these times remain achievable, tonight's QF2 from LHR back to DXB and on to SYD, the 2045 hours, should not be delayed.

Also on Tuesday 19 December, QF7 departed SYD 65 minutes behind time at 1545. Same day at gate expectation at DFW is 1410 hours, 70 late.

About 2000 hours (Tuesday 19 December 2017), there was a very heavy summery deluge around Melbourne. This is rarely a good time for domestic airlines as typically there are flights still to depart to curfew restricted airports such as SYD, and arrivals having to be held en route to MEL does not help 'beating the curfew.'

QF460 (1840 hours MEL - SYD, B738 VH-VZR was airborne at 2039; arrival is expected at 2150 hours, 115 minutes late.

QF822, the 2000 hours MEL - CBR (B738 VH-VZL) took off at 2050 with arrival predicted at 2151 hours, 46 minutes tardy.

The 1900 hours early evening from SYD down to MEL, QF465 (VH-VXR) took off at 2007. It should pull in at roughly 2130 hours, 55 late.

On Monday 18 December, A388 VH-OQB operated QF2 from LHR to DXB, arriving on Tuesday 19 at 0744 hours, 11 minutes early. It has then turned around to operate the six hour or so late QF9 ex MEL that took off from DXB at 1438 and which should arrive in LHR at 1804, 324 minutes late.

Meanwhile QF2, the delayed (altered probably due to crew rest requirements) 1415 hours Tuesday DXB - SYD has A388 VH-OQH that had arrived on QF9 at 1254. It had yet to commence pushback by 1450 hours.

This 'swapping' in DXB must mean all ULDs (luggage and freight containers) have to be taken off one plane and placed on another. This adds complexity but doubtless QF will have its reasons for the swap. Flyerqf or milehighclub might be kind enough to provide the answer.

UPDATE: QF2 commenced its journey in DXB at 1456 hours, taking off at 1522. QF claims that arrival in SYD on Wednesday 20 will be at 1105, but based on recent other trips it may be more likely around the 1130 - 1145 hours mark.

At this stage VH-OQH looks to next be on QF117 (1305 hours SYD - HKG) on Wednesday 20 December. If so, it will be delayed departing. However like all airlines with at least four A388s arriving in SYD tomorrow morning, it could change 'which one goes where.'

The 20 December arriving QF12 in SYD should be at its gate at 0901, 31 late.

Presumably ue to tonight's storm, QF692 from ADL across to MEL on Tuesday 19 December diverted to AVV. It took off from ADL at 1734 despite timetabled departure of 1605. Arrival was at 2016 in AVV instead of 1755 in MEL. It then departed AVV at 2322 - a very lengthy stay - with suggested arrival at MEL at 2348 hours, an incredible 353 minutes tardy.

Yes, it would be interesting to know. Apart from the airline's 'attitude' to this, it may depend upon whether the delay on the ground at AVV was initially expected to be minimal and then it increased in five minute increments. Did the flight crew run out of 'legal' duty hours? There might also have been an issue with obtaining passengers' checked in luggage from the ULDs even if the all clear was given for those wishing to alight.

On Wednesday 20 December, QF117, the 1305 hours SYD to HKG departed at 1501. QF117 should arrive in the SAR at 2045, 90 minutes late.

This aircraft (A388 VH-OQJ) had arrived in SYD at 0915 hours, 45 minutes late on QF12. However today also saw QF2 (VH-OQH) substantially late as due to suspected crew rest minimum requirements in DXB, it arrived SYD this morning at 1146 hours, 316 minutes late.

Another high capacity Airbus, VH-OQE was in SYD on the ground yesterday upon arriving on QF12 but today departed at 1614 hours, 94 minutes late on QF7 to DFW. Arrival should be at 1330, half an hour behind schedule.

QF93 pushed back in MEL 36 late at 1151 hours. Same day LAX arrival should be 40 late at 0715 hours, probably slightly (at least) delayed the transcon QF11.

Continuing with Wednesday 21 December, QF73 departed SYD 75 late at 1910 hours for SFO where same day arrival is expected at 1254 hours, just 29 late.

QF1, the 1655 hours from SYD up to LHR and on to LHR is unusually delayed in its departure until a projected 1945 hours (170 late), capping off a bad two or three days for the QF A388 fleet in timekeeping terms. DXB arrival on Thursday 21 is expected at 0300 hours, 140 late. If all goes well, in theory it should pick up further time by cutting the duration of the DXB stop and/or the second sector.

On Thursday 21 December, QF33 from SYD to KIX departed 40 minutes late at 1010; arrival is predicted at 1756, 31 minutes tardy.

The 1225 hours SYD - MNL (QF19) is expected to depart 55 late with arrival at 1815 hours, 45 minutes behind time.

QF23 is further delayed to an estimated 1630 out of SYD, making estimated BKK arrival at 2205 instead of 1610 hours. Although with a minimum turnaround, one might expect QF24 to depart much from 2330 (0330 AEDT) onwards, the QF website suggests that it will commence pushing back in BKK at 0155 hours on Saturday 23 December for an expected 1515 hours arrival in SYD, 465 minutes late.

Separately, A333 VH_QPC on QF24 due out of BKK on Thursday 21 December at 1800 did not depart until 0148 on Friday 22, meaning SYD arrival also at 1515 this afternoon. This may account for how tonight's QF24 is delayed for a similar time to give crew the minimum mandated rest period.

Was the aircraft allocated to QF23 this morning (Friday) that according to mannej returned to its gate A333 VH-QPD? This plane had arrived ex KIX on QF34 this morning in SYD.

A333 VH-QPI on QF127, the 0930 hours 'second stringer' (smaller capacity than QF117) from SYD to HKG took off at 1047. Delayed arrival should be at 1731 hours, 101 late.

The 1115 hours long distance MEL - LAX, QF93 should depart 45 late at 1200 'high noon.'

QF81 (1135 hours SYD - SIN) is expected to depart half an hour late.

The SYD - MNL QF19 has been late a bit in recent days: today, it should commence its journey 145 late at 1450 for a 1945 hours (135 minute tardy) arrival in the Philippine capital.

The B789 from MEL to LAX, QF95 was expected to depart 25 late at 1450 but that time has just passed.

Continuing with Friday 22 December, QF95 departed MEL at 1503, 38 minutes late with LAX arrival set for 1035, 50 minutes tardy.

QF19 left SYD at 1530 (185 late) and should arrive MNL at 2025 instead of 1730, 175 minutes behind schedule. QF20, the 1900 hours should be able to depart at or after 2140 if all goes well.

The 1440 hours QF7 departed SYD 121 minutes late at 1641 for DFW.

The 1645 hours SYD - SIN is predicted to depart at 1950 tonight with arrival 0045 on Saturday 23 instead of 2155 tonight.

QF12 (Thursday 21 December) departed JFK at 1856 hours, 56 minutes tardy, arriving LAX at 2156 hours, 61 late. The different aircraft for the second sector then departed LAX at 0004 on Friday 22 (94 late) but is forecast to only be 35 late into SYD on Saturday 23 at 0905 hours.

The 1645 hours second flight of the day from SYD to SIN, QF5 did not depart until 2030. Forecast arrival is not until 0105 hours on Saturday 23.

The delayed Friday 22 QF19 should arrive MNL at 2029 hours, 179 minutes late after departing SYD 185 late at 1530. A332 VH-EBG is the aircraft. It had been three hours late arriving in SYD on QF6 (ex SIN) at 1340 this afternoon, so this accounts for its delayed departure. QF5 before that had been badly late, as had QF108 and prior to that (on 20 December) QF107 from SYD to PEK so a string of tardy flights.

On Saturday 23 December, QF73, the B744 from SYD to SFO is expected to depart 95 minutes late at 1930 in tonight's early evening.

Another B744 (VH-OEJ), QF64 from JNB to PER departed promptly at 1859 hours (nine minutes late) on Friday 22 December but is diverting to PER - quite unusual - where a quick stop should be from about 0955 to 1035, meaning SYD arrival at around 1735 instead of the scheduled 1530, accounting for the SFO-bound delay. Is this PER diversion a medical emergency?

Some previous observed unscheduled intermediate stops for these long distance flights have been achieved in 45 minutes to an hour but there have been other occasions where the delay increases, so no guarantee that QF73 tonight will be boarded and ready to depart at 1930. While SFO arrival is expected to be 100 minutes late at 1405 hours mid afternoon, that could blow out.

Saturday 23 December has QF81 departing 93 minutes late from SYD at 1308 for SIN where arrival is likely at 1814 hours, 89 minutes behind schedule.

QF129 (1055 hours SYD up to PVG) commenced its pushing back at 1203 hours. Its arrival is delayed until 1921 tonight, 51 late.

The SYD departure of QF19 occurred 63 late at 1328 for MNL; arrival should be at 1809, 39 late but better than yesterday.

For the second consecutive day, QF7, the longhaul from SYD to DFW is delayed with forecast departure at 1630 this afternoon, 110 minutes late.

The 2325 hours QF9 from MEL on Friday 22 was 50 minutes late departing. DXB arrival was 55 late at 0725, but if it can cut down the time in DXB and gain some gate-to-gate on its second sector, the A388 may not be very late into LHR.

Continuing with Saturday 23 December, QF7 departed even later than predicted - 1742 hours. Same day DFW arrival should be at 1555 hours, 175 minutes late.

Earlier, QF97 from BNE to HKG departed 40 late at 1020, arriving at 1713 hours (43 minutes past the allotted.)

The SYD - SFO QF73 (that had to wait for the delayed QF64 arrival) is further delayed to an expected 2030 hours in its departure, but that time has just passed. Looks like a post-1435 hours arrival in Bay City.

QF81 has been delayed a few times in recent weeks. Sunday 24 December 2017 is no exception with SYD departure expected 55 minutes late at 1230 for SIN.
