Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF7 won't be departing today

Thanks! It is estimated to depart at 1545 hours mid arvo on Wednesday 28 March, not today at 1335. Arrival is suggested for 1505 hours tomorrow in DFW, 26 hours and five minutes late. The Tuesday evening QF8 ex Dallas FW is yet to have an amended departure time publicly displaying, but it cannot be any earlier than 2050 on Wednesday night given the SYD curfew lasts until 0600 hours.

Monday 26 March has seen QF94 depart LAX 38 minutes late with Wednesday 28 arrival in MEL suggested as 0912, 42 minutes tardy.

Although QF16 left only 14 minutes late, its BNE arrival is not expected until 0645, 40 minutes behind schedule.

The Tuesday 27 2050 hours DFW long haul to SYD (QF8) that was delayed overnight is expected to depart Texas at 2245 hours on Wednesday 28 for Good Friday arrival in SYD at 0805, 26 hours late.

Tuesday 27 March's QF1, the 1655 from SYD departed at 1744, arriving SIN at 2232, 17 late. It then pushed back at 0007 hours onn Wednesday 28, just 12 minutes behind time, but LHR arrival is predicted as 0730 hours, 35 late.

The BNE - HKG Wednesday QF97 is delayed from 1045 to 1130 - i.e. in just a few minutes - in pushing back with arrival forecast for 1850, 50 late.

Tuesday's QF15 from BNE (B744 VH-OEJ) ended up not departing until 1520, 250 minutes late, arriving LAX at 1102 hours, 242 late. It's a while since it's been this late. However B744 VH-OJS was able to depart on time ex LAX for JFK, as it had arrived on QF11 ex SYD. I was unaware that this would be a B744 yesterday so my prediction about a delay to the transcon QF11 was wrong.

On just its fifth day of operation, QF9 out of MEL, the 1615, is showing as delayed until 1645 (Wednesday 28 March) but by 1650 did not appear to have commenced pushing back.

Should it leave late ex PER, it will be interesting to see how much the additional air traffic an 0600 hours arrival at LHR has to 'compete with' compared to an 0510 scheduled arrival delays it.

B738 VH-XZM on QF132 (CHC - MEL), the 1430 hours that took off at 1514 is arriving at 1658 hours, 43 minutes late.

UPDATE: QF9 departed MEL at 1658 hours, promptly taking off to the west at 1708. Estimated PER arrival is 1748, 33 minutes tardy.

Tuesday 27's QF9 departed PER five minutes early, arriving LHR 20 late at 0525 on 28 March.

B738 VH-VXT on QF626, the 1610 hours MEL up to BNE took off at 1653. Suggested arrival is 31 minutes behind schedule at 1751 hours.

Adding to above, QF9 on Wednesday 28 March arrived PER at 1737, 22 late, despite having to follow QF1101 (ex ZNE, B738 VH-VZM) at what may have been minimum separation.

QF depicted it as departing PER at 1925 but it managed to do so at 1915, taking off at 1928, again promptly.. LHR arrival tomorrow should be at 0543 hours, 38 minutes late. This is the first time that the nonstop QF9 (should) be more than half an hour late.

Tuesday 27's QF96 left LAX 63 late at 9953 on Wednesday 28 *B789 VH-ZND), with Thursday 29 arrival expected at 1025, an hour late. In contrast QF94 is only an expected eight late into MEL tomorrow.

Thursday 29 March 2018 has QF15, the 1010 hours BNE long flight to LAX having departed at 1037 with arrival suggested as 0635, 35 late.

QF422 (1000 hours MEL - SYD that took off at 1207 with B738 VH-VXA) looks to be arriving 118 minutes late at 1323. On a busy day like today, it may well run late like this for the rest of the day and into the evening.

Also on Thursday 29 March, QF63 departed SYD at 1254, 59 minutes behind time with JNB arrival suggested as 47 late at 1747 hours.

QF1, the 1655 hours SYd - SIN is not expected to depart until 2200 tonight with SIN predicted arrival as 0315 hours on Good Friday, 300 minutes late. Departure should then be at 0500 - not a quick stay - with LHR arrival suggested as 1205 hours, 310 minutes behind schedule.

This is the first significant late running of QF1 since the flight was altered to again operate via pleasant SIN instead of unpleasant DXB.

I assume it due to how the Tuesday night QF8 ex DFW was delayed at least 24 hours, but the various third party sites do not have comprehensible records of the Tuesday and Wednesday QF8s, and the QF website does not record either as having arrived in SYD.

The Thursday 29 March 2018 QF1 ended up departing from SYD at 2201, basically as predicted. SIN arrival should be at 0315 hours, an even 30 minutes tardy. A shocking time to arrive but a saving grace is that many passengers would be continuing on the flight to LHR rather than travelling to a Singapore hotel.

The ISA - BNE QF2703 (F100 VH-XWN) is arriving at 2200 hours, 45 late.

the 2145 hours SYd up to BNe (QF556, B738 VH-VYF) should arrive at 2256 hours, 41 minutes tardy. Southbound QF553 (VH-XZD) touched down in SYD at 2236, 31 late.

On Good Friday (30 March 2018), QF81, the 1115 hours SYd - SIN is expected to depart mid arvo at 1430 with arrival at 1950, three hours late.

On Friday, the delayed QF1 ex SIn was in SIN from 0253 hours (278 minutes late) to 0506 (311 late) with LHR arrival suggested at 1205 hours, 310 late. A388 Vh-OQE is the aircraft, as Blackbird had suggested above.

Easter Saturday (31 March 2018) sees QF107, the 1310 hours from SYD up to PEK expected to depart 90 minutes late. This flight is generally punctual even though it most often relies on two 'unrefurbished' A332s with more suitable galleys and crew rest facilities for this longish flight.

A333 VH-QPH on QF130 ex PVG for SYD, the 1950 hours on Good Friday took off at 2331 so Saturday arrival is predicted as 1250, 205 minutes late.It had been late into SYD on Friday morning (QF24 ex BKK overnight) and then lost further time during the SYD turnaround forming QF129. On Saturday, it is forming QF107 above.

QF79, the 1010 hours MEL - NRT should depart at 1050 with arrival at 1920 rather than 1835 in this Japanese major airport. It is formed by the arriving QF80 that was bang on time in arriving MEL at 0845 hours, and that in theory should have had sufficient time - 85 minutes - to form an on time QF79 departure.

Also on 31 March, QF23, the often late 1050 hours SYD - BKK departed at 1137 but had not taken off by 1156. BKK arrival is expected at least 25 late at 1705. A contrast to the B744 on TG476 that as is normally was the case was on time this morning and expected a little early into the Thai capital.

Easter Saturday (31 March 2018) sees QF107, the 1310 hours from SYD up to PEK expected to depart 90 minutes late...

QF107 pushed back in SYD at 1512 hours, 122 minutes behind time. PEK arrival is estimated as 2345 hours, 90 minutes tardy. A333 VH-QPH (as predicted) is the aircraft.

The Friday 30 March 2018 QF27 arrived SCL in Chile 69 minutes late. QF28 then departed 61 late at 1431 hours mid afternoon, arriving in SYD on Easter Saturday at 1824 hours, 34 minutes past the allotted.

No April Fool's Day joke with QF29 expected delay from MEL half an hour to a revised departure of 1005 hours for HKG.

QF108 from PEK departed at 0123 on Sunday 1 April - some nice matching there - which was 98 late, so SYD arrival should be at 1545, 145 late.

QF95, the 2140 hours MEL to LAX has been cancelled. This may be the first time since it became a B789. This will also result in QF96 on Sunday being given the flick. As both Sunday and Monday ex LAX now have only QF94 scheduled on the MEL-bound route, one hopes that passengers will be able to travel on QF12 or QF16 via SYD and BNE respectively.

The 1055 hours B744 SYD - JNB QF63 is predicted to depart at 1130 hours on Sunday 1 April.

UPDATE: The QF63 delay has increased to an expected departure of 1145 but by 1150 it had yet to push back.

The 1210 hours SYD - MNL (QF19) was forecast to depart half an hour late, but pushed back even later at 1253.

Thank you OATEK. Corrected. Can't plead I was inebriated.

In further on 1 April 2018, QF27, the scheduled 1135 hours SYD - SCL is not expected to commence pushing back until 1400 this arvo, meaning arrival at 1320 hours, 130 minutes tardy and delay to the QF28 returning to SYD.

QF73's SYD departure was 38 minutes behind schedule at 1323 hours. Same day SFO arrival is estimated at 0936, 31 late.

The 1330 hours MEL - SYD (QF436 operated by B738 VH-XZN) did not become airborne until 1417 so arrival is unlikely before 1528, 44 late.

Further advice would be appreciated but it looks like B744 (VH-OJT?) on QF27 from SYD to SCL that took off at 1422 may have had to return to SYD. It had taken off at 1422 this arvo from what I can see.

It is displaying a further revised departure time of 1730 late this afternoon with SCL arrival at 1630 instead of 1110 hours.

UPDATE: QF27 departed SYD at 1657 with SCL arrival estimated as 1600, 290 minutes tardy. QF28 therefore should be able to make it back into SYD on Easter Monday with at least 90 minutes to spare prior to the 2300 hours curfew.

QF430, the 12.00 service from MEL-SYD, was cancelled approximately 20 minutes before departure today as EBM was unserviceable. I was lucky and got on the 12.30 service, but I'm not sure whether they managed to find enough vacant seats on the remaining 737 services for the rest of today to accommodate the other 262 fellow passengers. Some were apparently rerouted directly to their international destinations from MEL so perhaps it all worked out in the end.

Easter Monday (2 April 2018) sees QF79 from MEL to NRT, the 0910 hours that first was shown as altered to depart 10 minutes late ending up pushing back at 0953. Estimated arrival is 1910 hours, 35 minutes behind time.

The 1035 hours SYD - HKG 'smaller capacity' flight QF127 is expected to depart at hour late with arrival at 1835, 35 late.

Also on 2 April 2018, B738 ZK-ZQF (the 0835 hours AKL - SYD QF142 that took off at 1041) looks to be arriving at 1142 hours, 87 minutes late.
