Qantas Delays/Cancellations

In further on Sunday 24 June, QF19 has been delayed by 20 minutes to 1230 in its departure.

The identically timed QF107 (SYD - PEK) should depart 35 late. 'The 27; is expected to be off blocks in SYD at 1300 hours, 25 late.

UPDATE: While QF19 snuck out of its gate at 1228, QF107 did not do this until 1323, so the latter is predicted to arrive at 2334 hours tonight, 79 minutes tardy.

QF108 will inevitably be delayed for its redeye excursion back down to SYD.

What's the on time performance of QF93 been recently? Is it generally formed by QF36?

Himeno, yes, always formed by QF36 with the newish timetables as far as I know although I have not gone back and checked every flight for the past quarter. One of the aims of the March timetable was to minimise delays that had been caused by QF94 having to quickly turn around and operate QF93.

Punctuality has been good lately for 'the 93' with relatively rare exceptions.

In the last week it's been 15 minutes or less late four times, about 25 minutes late arriving at its LAX gate twice and once, 75 late. This is not a sufficient sample but it may overstate the delays as it's certainly not a flight that has stood out recently for bad delays (unlike say QF29 MEL - HKG or even worse, the notorious QF23 SYD up to BKK.)

'The 94' westbound is not quite as good, but as a generalisation it's better than QF12 (LAX - SYD) and QF16 (LAX - BNE.) As I'm sure you would know, when QF96 operates it tends (if at all possible) to take any passengers who miss QF94 because the transcon USA QF12 was delayed. while some MEL-bound patrons ex JFK end up travelling via Sydney or perhaps more rarely, Brisbane.

If one travelled eastbound on 'the 93' you can be confident, on average, that you'll have a punctual or close to that trip.

Good :)
I'm on 93 on July 4. I can take maybe a 3-4 hour delay, but a cancellation or bump to QF95 would mean missing an event I'm going to in LA in the afternoon/evening.

While I appreciate some have time pressures, it rarely strikes me as wise for international travel to travel to events without a 24 hour buffer. Better to leave the day before.

In further on Sunday 24 June 2018, QF10 from PER is arriving in MEL half an hour behind at 2025. Aircraft is B789 VH-VNB.

QF1, the 1555 hours afternoon SYD - SIN - LHR departed 28 late and should arrive SIN 35 late at 2250.

Doesn't work well with having to get leave. 93 is the best option available on a time and cost basis. 95 doesn't operate on Tuesdays (ie 3rd), and going via Asia departing after work on the 3rd, as I had been looking at, would get me to LAX later then 93 on the wed morning.

Monday 25 June 2018 finds QF130, the overnight PVG down to SYD (A333 VH-QPB) likely to arrive at 0905 hours, 40 late.

VH-QPC must have been repaired yesterday as it departed on the 14 hour delayed QF29 from MEL to HKG at 2332 on Sunday 24 June. HKG arrival is a little later than predicted, at 0735 hours, meaning that overnight delayed QF30 is unlikely to depart from HKG at the advertised 0845 on Monday 25 June.

QF29 is again delayed on Monday, with its 0935 from MEL altered to 1030 hours.

The 0910 hours MEL - NRT, QF79 departed at 0935 with expected arrival tonight half an hour late at 1905 hours.

In further on Monday 25 June 2018, QF23, the perenially late 0950 hours SYD - BKK commenced pushing back at 1020. Arrival is estimated at 1729, 49 late, thus delaying the redeye back to SYD, QF24 past its timetabled 1810 hours departure.

This is the fourth consecutive day of VH-QPA operating QF23/QF24 (quite unusual for QF, although some other airlines love doing this.) It arrived ex BKK in SYD this morning only three minutes late at 0628 hours so again no standout reason for the late QF23 pushback.

QF127 (1035 hours morning SYD - HKG) departed 52 late with B744 VH-OEE, which also had enjoyed several hours in SYD after arriving on QF74 at 0630, five minutes late. Arrival at 1850 will be 50 late tonight local time.

The 1015 hours SYD - KIX< QF33, departed at 1046 hours with predicted arrival 45 minutes tardy at 1955.

QF127 becomes an A388 later this week, one assumes because school holidays are upon us.

In further on 25 June (Monday), QF73 departed SYD 49 minutes late; arrival in SFO should be at 0938, 33 late.

Earlier, the BNE - LAX long flight (QF15) departed 37 minutes late at 1047 with arrival same day suggested as 0650 hours, 50 minutes late.

QF23 is delayed again on Tuesday 26 June 2018 with SYD departure estimated at 1035, 45 late for BKK arrival at 1730, 50 late. This means a late start for redeye QF24 back to SYD overnight.

QF97 (1045 hours mid morning BNE up to HKG) should depart half an hour late, arriving 35 late at 1835.

On Wednesday 27 June 2018, the redeye PVG down to SYD (QF130 (A333 VH_QPB) should arrive at 1001 hours, 92 minutes late. It had been 36 minutes late arriving in PVG last night as QF129, so something must have become a problem in Shanghai.

QF33 to KIX today departed nearly five and a half hours late. The return QF34 is now not scheduled to depart KIX until 0130! Something must have gone seriously wrong.

I can't tell you why, but aircraft A333 VH-QPD arrived this morning (27 June) in SYD at 0821 hours, nine minutes early on QF140 ex AKL so it had plenty of time for a punctual 1015 hours departure.

Of the last four QF33 flights including today's, all have been more than half an hour late and two much later than that. Not good!

On Tuesday 26 June 2018, QF10 unusually did not depart LHR until 1522, 127 minutes late, arriving PER today (27 June) at 1514 hours, 134 late. It then departed at 1643, 133 late with MEL arrival suggested as 2159, 124 late.

And it was ~45 mins late coming to KIX last Wednesday; ended up missing happy hour at the Marriott:mad:

Wednesday 27 June's QF10 has B789 VH-ZNA. Its 2159 hours arrival means the 2140 hours mid evening MEL - LAX will be unable to depart before 2305. This should mean a LAX arrival at around 2005 same day, 55 late.
