Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF28 diverted to AKL on way from SCL store SYD. Arriving SYD shortly approx 5 hours late.

Whenever I see Flyerqf replying, I shudder upon realising a failure to notice something. A wedge tailed eagle has nothing on his ability to sight occurrences.

The flight had departed SCL three hours late with a further two spent in AKL.

QF25 from SYD to HND departed 35 late tonight: this may have been partly due to the late QF28?

Was QF11 late into LAX this morning? I didn't see it parked at TBIT as I was coming in on 93. Saw 15 at the gate though (93 parked next to 15).

QF25 wasn’t operated by the inbound QF28 however it may have originally been scheduled to.

On Thursday 5 July 2018, the almost perenially delayed QF23 from SYD to BKK is predicted to commence pushing back at 1055, 65 late with arrival at 1735, 55 late.

The SYD up to PVG QF129 left at 1014, 43 late with arrival suggested as 1855, half an hour tardy.

The fifth B789, VH-ZNE, arrived in MEL on 1 July on its delivery run from PAE but has yet to carry revenue passengers.

Continuing with 5 July, QQF81, the 1015 hours SYD - SIN departed at 1147 so arrival is estimated at 1720, half an hour late, meaning a net gate-to-gate schedule gain of 62 minutes.

QF23 had yet to depart as at 1200 'high noon.'

QF517 (1005 hours BNE down to SYD that took off at 1050, B738 VH-XZM) should arrive at 1215, 35 minutes tardy.

B738 Vh-VYG on QF421 (0930 hours SYD - MEL that was in the sky at a delayed 1112 hours) looks to be pulling in to its designated gate at 1228 hours, 83 minutes late.

Southbound QF423 has A333 VH-QPF (quite unusual, and to me a waste of an A333 provided it's not on transfer) with this 1000 hours scheduled SYD 0- MEL taking off at 1202 hours. A 1329 hours arrival is estimated, 114 minutes tardy. This A333 had not been used since arriving in SYD yesterday afternoon at 1646 hours, nine minutes early on QF146 ex AKL.

UPDATE: QF23 departed at 1209 hours.

QF81 was delayed due to the inbound QF8 from DFW being diverted to BNE as a result of SYD fog.

Fog also caused QF2 to divert to MEL.

Thank you Flyerqf. So after departing LHR at 2338 on Tuesday night, 143 minutes late, QF2 on Thursday 5 was in MEL from 0610 to 0824, arriving SYD at 0953 hours, 283 minutes late. Some journey!

'The 8' departed DFW 11 late at 2201 hours on Tuesday 3 July. On Thursday 5, it was in BNE 0550 - 0736 with SYD arrival at 0924, 129 minutes late.

As usual, it would not be possible for BNE-bound passengers on QF8 or MEL-bound on QF2 to alight in their destinations, unless one had HLO and it was the final leg of a ticket.

Thursday's QF7, the 1235 hours SYD - DFW is being formed by the very late QF2 and is delayed until an expected 1330 in its departure.

The 1135 hours late morning SYD to AKL (QF145) departed at 1204. Arrival at 1714 will be 34 minutes tardy.

QF73, the 1245 hours SYD - SFO B744 is predicted to depart at 1800 hours with arrival at 1410 rather than 0905 hours.

The 1210 hours SYD - PEK QF107 is forecast to push back 45 late. Identically timed QF19 from SYD to MNL had not departed by 1300 hours.

Continuing with Thursday 5 July, QF7 departed SYD at 1348, 73 late with DFW arrival for this A388 suggested as 1420 hours, 80 late.

The SYD - MNL QF19 was 80 late off its blocks at 1330 this afternoon, so predicted arrival is 1955, 85 down, meaning QF20, the 2000 hours will be unable to depart until at least 2110 hours. SYD arrival tomorrow will be delayed but this flight (gate-to-gate basis) can pick up time.

QF64 arrived in SYD at 1513 hours, 78 minutes late ex JNB.

Flagship QF1 was again late, pushing back 92 late at 1727, so SIN arrival has moved to 2322 tonight, 67 minutes tardy. Departure should be at 0055 on Friday 6, an hour late with LHR arrival at 0740 hours, 45 late.

The SYD - PEK QF107 left later than forecast, at 1738: 268 minutes tardy. Arrival will not be until 0235 on Friday 6 July, so QF108 wil not be pushing back until at least 0350 hours for SYD arrival on Friday at 1725 instead of 1320. I couldn't think of a more horrible local time to depart than 0350.

QF37 (A332 VH-EBN), the 1615 hours mid afternoon MEL up to SIN was 101 minutes tardy departing with arrival expected at 0015 hours on Friday 6, 110 minutes late. Much of the delay was due to QF437, the 1330 hours SYD down to MEL arrivng 66 minutes late at 1611 and then having to be towed to its gate at the international terminal. All things considered to get it out in an hour and 50 minutes from arrival at its domestic gate is good going.

Delay to the SYD - SFO in departure has extended to a predicted 1825 hours.

QF16 on Wednesday 4 July departed LAX at 0009 hours (Thursday 5) with Friday 6 BNE arrival set for 0642 hours, 37 late.

QF96 is often tardy: it departed LAX 79 late at 0114 Thursday morning for Friday morning MEL estimated at gate 0900 hours, 35 late.

Following its QF423 SYD - MEL that I mentioned above today, A333 VH-QPF then was on QF769, the 1240 hours MEL - PER that did not take off until 1441, with arrival sugegsted about now at 1636, 106 late. QF566, the 1625 hours PER - SYD that is due to arrive in the latter at 2225 hours has been cancelled, so some passengers may well be overnighting tonight in PER at QF expense.

QF737, Thyrsday 5 July 2018's scheduled 1800 hours from CBR across to ADL (B738 VH-VZM) looks to be arriving at 2119 hours, 119 minutes tardy.

The 1805 hours ADL - MEL (QF694, VH-VXT) should be at its designated arrival gate at 2119 hours, 84 late.

QF718, the 1545 hours mid afternoon PER - CBR took off at 1653 with B738 Vh-VXI. The expected 2220 hours arrival will be 45 minutes late.

The 1900 and 1930 hours SYD - MELs, QF465 and QF467, respectively B738 VH-VXU and A332 VH-EBQ are in reverse order arriving in the southern capital. 467 should be in to its gate at 2138, 34 late while 465 is arriving at 2147, 72 late.

The large amount of late planes continues well into the evening of Thursday 5 July, with QF557, the 2035 hours BNE down to SYD that was airborne at 2133 with B738 VH-XZK suggested as arriving at 2245, 35 late. QF555 ought precede 557 but 555 is worse with VH-VZB also nominally showing a 2245 hours arrival, 65 minutes tardy.

QF1795 from TSV down to BNE has B717 VH-YQS and should arrive at 2228 hours, 43 late.

Tomorrow’s QF51 is delayed 2 hours. The inbound operating aircraft is 20 Mins late but still 5.5 hours before the original scheduled time so not the cause of the delay.

QF28 diverted to AKL on way from SCL store SYD. Arriving SYD shortly approx 5 hours late.

I was on that. It was a special flight. There were actually two separate medical emergencies - the first involved a crew member, but he recovered inflight. The second one of a pax triggerred the diversion to AKL. I must comment the pilot and crew as their informative and caring manner kept a 747-load of pax calm and happy, despite the initial long departure delay followed by the unintended visit to AKL.

We all missed connections from SYD onwards and on landing we all got our pre-organised new flight details and overnight accomodation details handed to us. Well done QF that night! (day?)

A388 VH-OQL is arriving on QF94 ex LAX at 0821 hours in MEL on Friday 6 July at 0821, 51 minutes tardy.

Behind it is QF96 (B789 VH-ZNC) on QF96 that should arrive in MEL at 0920, 55 minutes behind schedule.

UPDATE: QF96 has been further delayed to an 0937 hours arrival.

Continuing with Friday 6 July, QF510 (0830 hours SYD - BNE, B738 VH-VZM) took off at 0916 with suggested arrival at 1033, 33 late.

QF129, the SYD - PVG morning flight should depart 90 late at 1100 hours.

The 0950 hours QF23 from SYD to BKK is expected to depart at 1030.

QF1 departed SYD 92 minutes late on Thursday 5 July at 1727, with the SIN intermediate stop lengthy from 2330 to 0211 on Friday 6. LHR arrval is expected 85 late at 0820 hours.

Also on Thursday, QF12 was 67 minutes tardy ex JFK at 1917, so a 50 minute late arrival at LAX (2150 hours) is predicted. This will at least slightly delay QF12 to SYD.

In more on 6 July, QF420 (A332 VH-EBE, the 0930 hours MEL up to SYD that took off at 1019) should arrive at 1126, 31 late.
