Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF2D arrived SIN at 0625 hours on Wednesday 8 August 2018 (VH-OQK), 13 hours late and departed at 0759, exceeding what QF had predicted as the duration of the intermediate stop. It should arrive SYD at 1720, 730 minutes late.

The 0930 hours SYD up to PVG (QF129) is to depart at 1010, arriving at about 1845 tonight, 20 late.

QF581 Sydney to Perth delayed, unknown reason at the moment. It’s one of the 747’s

B744 VH-OEI is the 1025 hours SYD - PER. It was showing as delayed until 1045, but was off blocks at 1054. At 1109, it was still taxiing. QF expects arrival at 1342 hours, 32 late.

UPDATE: The predicted arrival for QF581 has become 1404 hours, 54 late.

QF23's arrival estimate in BKK has become 1725,. 45 late.

The 0930 hours SYD up to PVG was 71 late off blocks, so at gate arrival is predicted as 1919 hours, 44 late.

QF81 departed at 1143 ex SYD, two minutes earlier than forecast, but 88 late for its flight up to SIN.

QF11 (0935 hours SYD to LAX) was to depart at 1400 hours on Wednesday 8 August, but this has been further extended to 1600. Arrival (same day) should be at 1250 hours, 390 minutes behind schedule. Passengers for JFK will presumably find themselves rebooked on the next available AA transcontinental flight.

The 1200 'high noon' BNE up to SIN is normally punctual (or early arriving in the Lion City) but on 8 August, A332 VH-EBD did not become airborne until 1408 so expected arrival is 1938 hours, 83 minutes behind the schedule.

QF117 (1420 hours SYD mid afternoon up to HKG) should push back an hour late.

The 1555 hours SYD - SIN - LHR on Wednesday had until recently been displaying as 'on time' but that has altered with a new departure time of 1915 tonight (200 minutes late), the SIN intermediate stop becoming 0125 to 0805 (the latter reflecting mandatory minimum rest for the overnight delayed QF2 that got into SIN this morning) and LHR arrival on Thursday 9 at 1455 instead of 0655 hours, so eight hours tardy.

UPDATE: QF11 (A388 VH-OQJ) commenced pushing back at 1615 (420 late), taking off on 8 August from SYD at 1638. Expected same day LAX arrival is 1250 hours, 390 late.

The badly delayed QF2 (VH-OQK) arrived SYD at 1722, 12 hours and 12 minutes late.

A388 VH-OQE has been sitting in SYD since 0631 hours on Tuesday 7 August when it arrived 29 early on QF81 ex SIN, the 'local' redeye.

One might have thought it could operate the 1555 hours QF1 to SIN and LHR but it must be required for maintenance, as it looks like the 12 hour plus late QF2 with OQK will be running the delayed QF1 (expected to depart in an hour at 1915 hours).

Melburnian1,

Following up from sunday night. Seems transport was also covered for those that required it so full credit to qantas in my view. See attached email received today.

L1925, great information.

By the sound of things you got served quite quickly so kudos to the lady as it must take a bit of keyboarding to accommodate each of 10 travellers with different desires.

According to FR24, you have an 'A330' on QF652, the 2305 hours PER - BNE redeye. Although FR24 disagrees, from the allocated gate numbers you may be formed by QF481, the 2120 hours scheduled arrival in PER that is at this stage seven minutes early: A332 VH-EBE.

Had I been you, I would have stayed overnight in PER but to get to the east coast at a reasonable hour means a very early start so I understand why you knocked that back. At least the BNE-bound flight is longer than to say MEL, so you have the chance for a little more shut eye.

Surprising that on a Sunday night ex PER, or Monday morning ex BNE that there are J seats available.

Also on Wednesday 8 August 2018, QF843 (B738 VH-VXD, the 1410 hours afternoon DRW - SYD that did not take off until 1506) is arriving at 1941, 46 late.

QF1 departed at 1908, 193 minutes behind schedule from SYD. It was airborne at 1940. Predicted SIN arrival is 0113 hours on Thursday 9, 178 late with departure staying at 0805, 490 minutes behind the timetable and LHR arrival at 1455, 480 late.

Tuesday night's 2115 hours QF2 (VH-OQL) departed LHR 42 late and has just arrived SIN at 2005, 40 late (although QF had predicted 1746, so the software was a bit out).

Tuesday 7 August's QF96 departed LAX at the unpleasant hour of 0231 on Wednesday 8, so on Thursday 9 MEL arrival is estimated at 1035.130 minutes behind the timetable.

The B744 on QF16 from LAX did not beat it out by much, pushing back at 0222 hours for a Thursday arrival of 0820 in BNE, 135 late. This should be just enough time to turn around the aircraft for the 1010 hours to LAX, at least in theory.

Thursday 9 August 2018 sees QF2180, the 0725 hours SYD up to dusty MRZ that did not become airborne until 0808 likely to arrive at 0930, half an hour tardy. Aircraft is Q300 VH-TQZ.

QF23, the perenially delayed 0950 hours SYD - BKK should depart at 1200 'high noon' for an estimated 1820 hours arrival, 100 minutes late. The 1810 hours ex BKK QF24 redeye will be delayed by at least 90 minutes in pushing back, but a forecast departure is hard to calculate until QF23 is in the air.

The lunchtime 1210 hours SYD up to PEK, QF107 is predicted to depart an hour late.

Wednesday 8 August's QF1 departed SYD at 1908 last night, arriving SIN at 0118, 183 late. Due to crew rest required for those from the delayed QF2 (12 hours late), it then departed not long ago at 0803 SIN time with LHR arrival forecast as 1411 instead of 0655 on Thursday 9 August.

In more on 9 August, QF81 (1015 hours SYD - SIN) was cancelled as will be QF82 (2110 hours redeye back down to SYD).

The 1010 hours BNE to LAX (QF15) pushed back 39 late so arrival is suggested as half an hour behind schedule at 0630 hours (same day).

QF107 departed SYD at 1324 (74 late) for PEK where arrival is predicted only 20 late at 2235 hours.

'The 23' was off blocks at 1213 (143 late) but should only be 110 late arriving at its allocated gate in BKK at 1830 tonight.

QF926 (B738 VH-VXC, the 1305 hours SYD up to CNS) took off at 1346 so arrival is at an estimated 1659, 44 late.

Wednesday 8 August's QF2 departed LHR at 2154, so is expected to be at its allocated SIN gate at 1812 hours this evening, 47 minutes behind schedule.

On Thursday 9, QF839 from DRW down to MEL, the lunchtime 1325 hours that took off at 1409 with B738 VH-XZC is arriving at 1845, 40 late.

Just a quick update on 'The 23' I did call Qantas as they seemed to think the transit time was fine. I was also informed that I would need to collect and re-check my baggage between the domestic and international flight........

Flying on Saturday so without a QF23/24 at all tomorrow we might be lucky enough to push back at 10:30.

QF79 (0910 hours Friday 10 August MEL up to NRT) departed at 0956 and became airborne at 1028. Expected arrival has become 1916 hours, 41 late, so either QF80 to MEL or QF62 to BNE will be slightly delayed tonight.

QF488 (B738 VH-VXG, the 0845 hours morning MEL - SYD) was in the sky at 0935 so is arriving at 1044, 34 late.

The 0935 hours MEL up to HKG, QF29, is expected to depart at 1125 for arrival at 1900 tonight, 100 minutes late. QF30 was 80 late arriving in MEL this morning at 0855 hours.

An 80 minute delay in departure is predicted for QF73, the B744 from SYD to SFO that normally pushes back at 1245.

On Friday 10 August 2018, QF73 was predicted to depart 80 late ex SYD but this occurred at 1503, 138 minutes tardy, so almost triple the delay. Same day SFO arrival should be at 1130, 145 late.

Thursday 9 in London saw QF2 depart 59 minutes late at 2214, so SIN arrival on Friday 10 is estimated as 80 late at 1845 hours. However the flight may only be a little late arriving in SYD on Saturday 11.

Also on Friday 10, QF1550, the 1720 hours took off at 1826 with B717 VH-YQX. Arrival in the Sunshine State capital should be at 2002 tonight, 62 late.

The HBA up to MEL QF1016 (B738 VH-VZX) should be on blocks at around 1906, 36 late.

QF4534, the peak hour 1700 hours ex SUD took off at 1753 (A332 VH-EBQ), so arrival is suggested at 1915, 40 minutes down.

QF708 (the 1645 hours ADL across to CBR) was airborne at 1743, so B738 VH-XZD should be at its destination allocated gate at roughly 1930 hours, 40 late.

In further on Friday 10 August, QF494 (the mid evening 2100 hours MEL up to SYD) departed at 2131 and took off at 2146 so arrival for A332 VH-EBS should be at 2255 tonight, half an hour behind schedule.

QF30 (2010 hours redeye from HKG to MEL) should be half an hour late in departing at 2040 hours.

UPDATE: QF30 is further delayed to a projected 2100 hours off blocks.

A333 VH=QPG is arriving in MEL on Saturday 11 August on QF30 ex HKG at 0852 hours, 77 late. It is to form QF29 back to HKG that QF asserts will depart at 1000. That may be a little optimistic.

QF118, another ex HKG but instead down to SYD has VH-QPB and looks to be arriving at 1121, 31 late.

In further on 11 August 2018, QF63 is predicted to depart SYD 90 minutes late for JNB. QF64 tonight (South African time) will be tardy.

QF129 (0930 hours SYD up to PVG) was away at 1030, so arrival is estimated at 1922 tonight, 57 late. This will delay redeye QF130.

QF81 (1015 hours SYD up to SIN, A380 VH-OQJ) was in the sky at 1104 with suggested arrival at 1740 late this afternoon, 50 late.

The 1015 hours SYD - KIX used to have a great punctuality record but of late has been running a little late. Today is worse, with A333 VH-QPE departing at 1152 and still only taxiing at 1203 hours. Arrival is suggested at 2045 (95 late) but it could be a tad beyond that.

QF422 (1000 ex MEL, A332 VH-EBM) took off at 1057 and is arriving SYD at about 1208 hours, 43 late.

Updating the previous post, QF29 (0935 hours morning MEL up to HKG) has been further delayed until 1330 this afternoon, so arrival in the bustling SAR has become 2105 tonight, 225 late. This will delay either QF30 to MEL or QF62 down to BNE, redeyes.

Continuing with Saturday 11 August, QF107 (1210 hours SYD up to PKG) is delayed until 1430, so arrival will be around the 0030 mark on Sunday 12, 140 late. In turn, QF108, the 2345 hours redeye back down to SYD will be late.

QF73 (1245 hours lunchtime SYD - SFO) is displaying as an anticipated 40 late off blocks but that time has passed.

B744-operated QF63 departed 111 late at 1246 hours from SYD with JNB at gate arrival likely at 1836 this evening, 96 late. The 1910 hours overnight QF64 to SYD should be able to be off blocks at about 2010.

Saturday 11 August 2018's QF1 departed SYD 52 minutes late at 1647. The SIN stop is predicted as 2305 to 0035 on Sunday 12 for LHR arrival at 0730 hours, 35 late.

Due to the late QF29 yesterday, the Sunday 12 August 2018 arriving QF30 (HKG - MEL) arrived at its gate at 0955, 140 late. Fortunately A333 VH-VPG was sitting in Melbourne, not having been used since it arrived on QF30 on Saturday morning, so QF29 was only 12 late away at 0947 hours.

The redeye from KIX down to SYD had VH_QPE and arrived on Sunday 12 at 1042, 192 late. This is a thrice weekly flight. QF33 had not arrived in KIX until 2127, 147 late so that explains some of the delay.

QF129 from SYD was again delayed on Sunday, departing at 1026, 56 minutes behind the timetable. PVG presumed arrival is 1925, an hour late.

The so often tardy SYD up to BKK QF23 is true to form today with departure suggested at 1030, 40 late although that was half an hour ago.

The 1035 hours SYD - HKG, QF117 is forecast to depart 45 late with arrival at 1850, 50 late.
