  • QF36 SIN-MEL (VH-OQH), the 19 40 service, landed in MEL at 8 31, 151 min tardy. This delayed departure of QF93 MEL-LAX, the 10 55 service which took off at 11 52, however, arrival should only be 17 min tardy, at 6 37.

Is that going to affect the connection in SYD? Should still get in midday? Not sure what will become of my flight from OOL in the morning.

JQ amateur hour at Qantas.

QF863 OOL-SYD was scheduled to depart 20 minutes late but we sat there more than 30 minutes longer eaiting/looking for 2 fail to board passengers. So we took off just on 1 hour late and arrived ~45m late.

They didn't bother waiting for me on QF433 at gate 8 due to depart at 12:30pm and put me on QF439 due to depart at 2:00pm. I'm turning around back to SYD on QF446 at 4:00pm. My 2h transit in MEL is now 30m which is hardly any time to sample the new lounge.

The funny part is they have been offering people seats flying to MEL after 1:30pm on earlier flights but didn't bother with my flight arrangements.

This is the part of travel I hate. We waited more than 20 minutes in OOL for failed to boards and they knew I was arriving from OOL but didn't wsit for me. The aircraft to MEL was still at gate 8 when I disembarked.

You expect an aircraft to wait for you..... Won't ever happen.
It happens quite a lot. Why the 20 minute wait at OOL for 2 failed to boards? They had no idea where they were yet multiple runs through the cabin looking for them. They knew exactly where I was at the time yet chose to pack up shop to leave close on time. And I'm posting from the 4:00pm flight so it's not like there aren't delays.

Very contradictory, very inconsinsent, very amateurish.

Sat 15th has the following:

  • VH-QPD (A330) arrived late from QF130 PVG-SYD at 11 07, 82 min tardy to be precise. This then formed as QF81 SYD-SIN, with a revised arrival at 18 18, 93 behind.
  • VH-EBF, after the major delay on QF41 as previously advised, operated a very red-eye QF42 CGK-SYD which arrived at 13 47, 452 min tardy.
  • Good old VH-OEB also was delayed today as QF64 JNB-SYD, which arrived at 17 11, 96 min behind.

Purely because they had luggage on board. There is NO delay for passengers who have not boarded with nothing in the hold.

On Saturday 15 December, the transcontinental USA QF11 departed LAX at 0934, 74 minutes behind schedule with JFK arrival at 1743, 73 late. Departure as QF12 was 77 late at 1917 with LAX arrival suggested as 65 late at 2200 hours.

This will at least slightly delay the connecting (different aIrcraft) QF12 from LAX to SYD, and QF16 as well ex LAX for BNE.

That's not true, but it seems to depend on the number of connecting passengers and where one is headed.
It also depends on the staff involved. I've been on many delayed flights to BNE where they have held departing flights for the connecting passengers and passengers have been advised to run to gate.

The Sunday 16 December 2018 QF1549 (1410 hours afternoon BNE down to CBR, B717 VH-YQX) took off at 1506 with arrival likely at 1746 hours, 46 late.

QF468 has B738 VH-VXG and is the 1615 hours MEL - SYD airborne at 1719. Resultant arrival is predicted at 1823 hours, 43 late.

QF448 (1800 hours MEL - SYD) has been cancelled as has QF474, the 1815 hours northbound.

QF451 (1715 hours SYD - MEL) and QF491, the 2030 hours southbound have also got the bullet.

Also on Sunday 16 December, QF83, the thrice weekly mid afternoon 1530 hours SYD - SIN has been altered to depart at 1950 tonight. Arrival is expected at 0050 hours on Monday 17, 245 minutes late.

QF84 returning southeastwards is predicted to depart at 0205 on Monday instead of 2210 tonight for SYD arrival tomorrow at 1315, 240 late.

The ARM down to SYD early evening arrival, QF2031 has Q300 VH-SBG. Arrival should be at about 1945 hours, 65 minutes tardy.

Monday 17 December 2018 sees QF405 (A332 VH-EBK), the 0630 hours SYD down to MEL did not depart until 0730 and became airborne at the (appropriate for such an operator) time of 0747 hours. Consequently arrival is likely at 0916 hours, 71 late. This will cause a flow on delay to QF485, the 0905 hours transcontinental from MEL across to PER that is optimistically expected by QF to depart at 0945 hours. A back of the envelope guess might be to expect pushback at around 1005 hours with PER arrival approximately 1120, 70 late.

A following flight QF407 (B738 VH-VZR, the 0720 hours), departed at 0746 but had a long wait for takeoff at 0813. Hence arrival in MEL should be 0936, 41 late.

A332 VH-EBN on QF411, the 0730 hours southbound, is similar, having become airborne at 0820. Arrival should be at about 0943, 38 late.

QF418, the northbound 0900 hours MEL - SYD has been cancelled.

A333 VH-QPI is operating what may be positioning flight QF6156 from BNE down to SYD, arriving at 0921.

Late morning of 17 December 2018 has QF470 (VH-VZL, the 1015 hours MEL - SYD) taking off at 1114 with arrival suggested as 1222 hours, 42 late.

A fair way behind is the 1030 hours northbound that was airborne at 1136 with VH-VXB as QF424. This flight should arrive at 1241, 46 late.

Continuing today, QF797 (VH-VZW, the 11 40 service ASP-MEL) took off at 14 21, arrival is suggested at 18 22, 152 late.

QF435 SYD-MEL 13 00 hours, QF619 BNE-MEL, 12 10 hours service were cancelled.
