Qantas Delays/Cancellations

As first mentioned in post 13419 a couple of pages back, the Monday 22 August 1015 hours SYD - LAX (B789 VH-ZNA) was showing as delayed overnight until 1300 today (23), but it only pushed back at 1418. Estimated arrival is 1045 hours on Tuesday, 1665 minutes late.

As suggested by me but not reflected in QFi's proposed timings, the delayed QF2 arrived SYD at 0654, 104 minutes late, on Wednesday 24 August rather than '0615'.

Continuing with Wednesday 24 August 2022, QF11 (A388 VH-OQK, 1015 midmorning SYD - LAX airborne at 1131 hours) should arrive same day at 0735, 35 late.

QF10 with B789 VH-ZNK) was in the air from PER at 1415 hours so MEL arrival should be 1921 hours, 41 late.

QF151 (0710 hours early morning MEL-AKL, Thursday 25 August 2022, B738 VH-VZV) was airborne at 0806 hours, arriving at 1327, 42 minutes tardy.

The return, QF156 (1340 ex AKL) took off at 1459 so expected at gate arrival has become 1633, a similar 38 minutes tardy.

QF12 (A388 VH-OQB) is expected to shortly depart LAX 50 late at 2350 hours local time on Wednesday 24, arriving SYD at 0725, half an hour tardy on Friday 26.

By 0012 LAX time (1728 AEST) on Thursday 25 August, A388 VH-OQB on QF12 had yet to push back.

This may be benign and shortly resolved, but in some other previous cases it's indicated 'trouble' as in a fault with the aircraft and hence in a worst case, a suddenly cancelled flight.

At the very least, if this aircraft QF11 tomorrow morning at 1015 hours ex SYD back to LAX, this is likely to be delayed.

UPDATE: Happliy, by 0031, VH-OQB was off blocks and commencing to taxi. Whew. (QAN states that departure was at 0014 but that wasn't what one could see on FR24). Expected SYD at gate arrival is 0757 hours (62 minutes late) on Friday 26.

Friday 26 August has seen QF35 (A333 VH-QPI, the 1205 hours MEL-SIN) not airborne until 1351. Expected at gate arrival has become 1919 hours, 64 late.

Earlier, A332 VH-EBG on the 0710 hours MEL-AKL took off bang on 0800 hours, arriving at 1324, 39 minutes behind schedule. Returning, QF156 arrived MEL at 1648, 38 minutes past what the timetable states.

QF143 had the comparative luxury (in J) of A333 VH-QPF that arrived in AKL (ex SYD) at 1513 hours, 38 late with the flight back, QF156 being nine minutes early after a snappy turnaround.

'The 11' (A388 VH-OQH) was the 1015 hours midmorning SYD-LAX that was in the sky at 1125, so a same day estimate for the arrival is 48 late at 0748 hours.

QF10 today with B789 VH-ZNB arrived PER at 1226 hours, 46 minutes tardy, and then MEL a few minutes ago at 1925, 45 minutes down.

It is extremely unusual for QF71/72 PER to SIN and return to be delayed more than 45 minutes but today, A332 VH-EBL is arriving SIN at 1946 hours, 146 minutes behind schedule. It had been in PER since 0935 AWST this morning but didn't take off for Singapore until 1445 mid afternoon. 'The 72' back should be late if it's the same aircraft.

QF1513 CBR-MEL planned : 0750 delayed to 0825 due to late arrival of incoming aircraft and (I think I heard it correctly) fire near CBR area...

On Friday 26 August, A333 VH-QPJ on QF41, the 1350 hours SYD-CGK took off at 1611 even though the plane had been in Sydney since 0645 hours. Arrival was at 2024 hours, 99 late. The return redeye was in the sky at 2228 hours so this QF42 arrived On Saturday 27 in SYD at 0803 hours, 118 late.

Sunday 28 August has frequent late runner, QF143 (0930 hours SYD up to AKL with A333 VH_QPE) not having become airborne until 1031. Expected at gate arrival is 1508 hours, 33 minutes behind schedule.

QF11 (1015 hours SYD - LAX) was estimated to depart two hours late, but this has been further changed to a suggested 1250 hours so arrival in 'Movie City' will be at least two hours tardy, meaning some connections will be missed. VH-OQJ is the aircraft, which had arrived 38 minutes late as QF2 this morning (0548 hours).

QF121 (0930 hours SYD - ZQN) has been delayed to beyond 1115 in pushback.

QF81, the 1110 hours SYD-SIN is predicted to depart 35 minutes late but if past performance is any guide, should this come to pass it ought be less than 20 late arriving.

'The 10' with B789 VH-ZNJ should arrive at its PER gate today at 1212 hours, 32 minutes past what the timetable states.

The delays by QF makes me worry about my next trip. I’m planning to do the SYD-SIN QF81 on 09/09 with a few connections upon arrival into SIN on UL. Going by the trend of delays, If the QF81 is delayed, I’d be missing my UL connections … I’m also doing BLR-SYD direct on 18/09 or 19/09 …

Continuing with Sunday 28 August, QF19 (1230 hours lunchtime SYD up to MNL, A333 VH-QPB) was airborne at 1341 hours so predicted at gate arrival becomes 1931 hours, 41 minutes behind the timetable.

Every day differs, but from what one has observed (not every day), QF81 has quite good punctuality.

A333 VH-QPB on QF19 yesterday (Sunday 28 August) arrived at its MNL gate at 1953, 63 late but the return scheduled QF10 (2035 hours) was not airborne until 2334, arriving in SYD on Monday 29 at 0859 hours, 149 minutes late.

B789 VH-ZNA (class leader) is on QF11 (1015 hours SYD-LAX airborne this morning at 1130 for a same day estimated at gate arrival 37 late at 0737 hours.

'The 151' (0710 hours MEL-AKL) has A332 VH-EBC. It took off at 0832 with arrival becoming 1343 hours, 58 minutes tardy.

Colleague EBN is on 'the 69' that took off from MEL at 1104, so a 67 minute late arrival in DEL at 1907 appears to be the situation.

The 0950 hours SYD-BKK was airborne at 1038, 48 minutes after timetabled pushback, so its at gate arrival looks to be 35 late: 1715 hours. The plane is A333 VH-QPJ.

Continuing with Monday 29 August, QF103 (1925 early evening SYD-HNL, A333 VH-QPD, was airborne at 2056 so expected same day arrival is 64 minutes behind schedule at 1014 hours. QF104 should be delayed into SYD tomorrow evening.

B738 VH-XZG on QF149 (1915 hours SYD-AKL) was up up and away 63 minutes later, so Tuesday 30 at gate arrival is estimated as 0055, 35 minutes down.

A332 VH-EBN should be in DEL (ex MEL) as QF69 tonight at 1850, 50 minutes tardy.

On Monday 29 August, the 2355 hours redeye from PER across to SYD, QF654 (A332 VH-EBC) did not take off until Tuesday 30 at 0204 hours, so at gate arrival is likely at about 0751 hours, 101 minutes late. This aircraft has had four passenger-carrying flights in a row at least 50 minutes late, with QF6141 (a 'ferry' or empty flight) yesterday another it operated from MEL to SYD, takeoff being at 1829 and arrival at 1941 for the 1955 hours SYD-PER QF653 that was eventually airborne at 2206. This indicates another A332 had failed.

If EBC's roster provided for an early morning flight from SYD to MEL today, and a few others, it'll be delayed all day depending on timetabnled layover allowances.

QF63, the Tuesday 30 August 0935 hours midmorning SYD-JNB is expected to push back two hours late, so QF64 tonight, the redeye back to Sydney, is guaranteed to be late arriving tomorrow.

A333 VH-QPJ on QF24 ex BKK overnight arrived SYD at 0700 hours, half an hour behind schedule.

QF70 (A332 VH-EBN) was in the sky above DEL yesterday at 2114 hours so this afternoon, at gate arrival looks to be 1342 hours, 47 late.
