Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Saturday's QF7 (B789 VH-ZND) arrived in Dallas 15 minutes ahead of schedule, however once again the return QF8 is delayed. This time, estimated to be 2 hrs 30 min, with departure expected at 0:20 CDT Sunday - currently Qantas Flight Schedule shows the same delay for a Sydney arrival at 9:05 AEDT Monday
It appears that the crew related QF8 delays have been resolved, with Sunday's flight pushing back just 30 minutes late. With a further 24 minutes in the queue to take off, the revised arrival time in Sydney according to the flight tracker sites is about 6:55 AEDT Tuesday, 20 minutes late. Qantas Flight Status on the other hand has the ETA 1 hour earlier at 5:55 AEDT ??

So likely crew rest related?
Correct. I was on the flight. Captain came on to explain that due to the prior late arrival of the 1 from Sydney that they had to delay to allow for min Tech crew rest (cabin crew UK based so not an issue on their end). They apparently tried to find alternate tech crew but that didn't play out.

Yep, my flight got affected. Was due to leave CBR 0750, now leaving 0930. Won't make that meeting in time after all...

QF1 badly delayed again yesterday, only departing at 2230 instead of 1655. Looks like the A380 is still in Singapura as we speak. VH-OQD operating it on 11 Oct which arrived on 10 Oct as QF2 and has not flown between that window. Maybe tech issue?

This delay appears to be due to issues with B789 VH-ZNB, which has been grounded since arriving in Sydney with QF64 on Thursday morning.
Sunday : QF7 eventually landed in Dallas at 0911 CDT, 17 hours 11 min late. The return QF8 (operating as QF8D as Saturday's QF7/QF8 is running to time) left Dallas at 12:13 CDT, 14 hours 12 minutes late, and is expected in Sydney at 20:47 AEDT tonight.

Sunday : yesterday's QF9 (B789 VH-ZNC) left Melbourne at 17:45 AEDT, 93 minutes late, making up some time to arrive in Perth 76 minutes late. The onwards leg to London pushed back 67 minutes late, however is expected to arrive in London at 6:20 GMT 75 minutes late.

Meanwhile today's domestic B789 operated service QF435 SYD-MEL is currently showing as being delayed 2 hours to a 12:30 AEDT departure from Sydney. Monday : While Sunday's QF7 (B789 VH-ZNA) was early arriving in Dallas, the return QF8 pushed back 90 minutes late.
Then, while showing on the flight trackers as being in the air with a diversion to Brisbane for an 06:23 AEDT arrival time Tuesday morning, Qantas Flight Status shows the flight as "Cancelled" !
The onward flight to Sydney is shown on FlightRadar24 as departing at 7:40 AEDT, which would indicate an approximate arrival in Sydney of 10:00 AEDT.

Edit : there appears to be a flow on from this delay, with Tuesday Morning's QF11 SYD-LAX showing as delayed by 80 minutes for a new Sydney departure of 11:35 AEDT, with the same delay for its LAX arrival, now 07:20 PDT Tuesday

Tuesday : Ooops, sorry, forgot no DST in Qld, and also muddled BNE depart & SYD arrival. Thus B789 VH-ZNA arrived in Sydney with QF8 at the somewhat earlier time of 07:23 AEDT, just 60 minutes late. Qantas Flight Status is still showing the flight as "Cancelled".

Meanwhile B789 VH-ZNJ positioned from Melbourne to Sydney in the early hours as QF6002 to take over QF11 SYD-LAX which departed Sydney at 11:51 AEDT 96 minutes late, with LAX arrival estimated to be 06:50 PDT i.e. 50 minutes late.

B789 VH-ZND departed Jo'burg with QF64 at 19:09 SAT Monday, 89 minutes late, with expected arrival in Sydney of 15:37 AEDT, 72 minutes late.

Interestingly enough, tomorrows 2345 departure QF1 SIN 2 LHR already shows a delay in the app, boarding now supposedly starts at 0205am (Thursday) only.

Must have been a repair required to ZNA which was performed in Melbourne today. QF9 still not off the ground, showing an ETA of 1215, 8 hours late.
