Tonight‘s QF15 BNE to LAX apparently cancelled around 30mins ago, and ppl auto-rebooked in 4 days time without any other option in the app. If these allegations are true, chapeau Qantas…
I'm guessing here, but to me it looks like the aircraft scheduled to operate BNE-LAX, VH-EBM, has instead operated as QF6004 down to Sydney to operate a delayed QF127.

The original QF127 today (VH-EBQ) diverted back to Sydney around 3.5 hours into the flight and arrived back in SYD around 7pm. VH-EBM is now scheduled to operate QF127 departing at 10pm.

Edit: this obviously means that today's QF128 will be delayed until tomorrow morning, with an estimated departure of 6.10am currently.

another one we missed is QF142 AKL 2 SYD (VH-XZF) that diverted back to AKL yesteray, and then left AKL for SYD after about 2 1/2 hours on the ground.

Monday 24 July QF 24 BKK - SYD. Delayed twice then cancelled. Aircon issue? Who knows the real reason, because information from ground staff was non-existent. Entire planeload of passengers in departure lounge. Absolute chaos. Is this because BKK is no longer a hub for QANTAS? No updates via the App until the next day and the few SMS messages received were hours after the event. Customer service non-existent.

Got a heads up that QF903 MCY-SYD is delayed 15m. (Edit: make that 30m) Still 4 hours to departure. No delay shown for the incoming QF902.

QF notified me of the delay, then helpfully emailed my etcket again with the original flight time. I’ve already checked in 🤔 Then they notified me of a further delay, and again sent the eticket.

Finally departed 13.29, 2¼ hours late, same as the lateness of the incoming flight QF902. Commentary from the front that cancellation had been consiidered before the departure from SYD.

Definitely a bad hair day. QF147 1745 SYD-AKL, was 1h10 late, now 1h45 late. Ok, make that 2h08 late...

Ouch. 24 hour delay plus a Paris diversion would sting a bit.

Tonight’s QF93 MEL-LAX also cancelled due to the impacted 787 schedule.

Ground staff have no idea about technical issues. Any why couldn’t it be aircon issues. There are many, many, facets to aircraft aircon systems, though the bit that most people seem to forget is that at their hearts they’re really the pressurisation system. And there’s a fair chance you don’t want to go without that.

The scheduled QF3 (SYD-AKL-JFK) on both the 25/10 and 27/10 were cancelled. I'd assume they would get some of the passengers heading to the US out on QF7/11 and other DFW/LAX bound services.

VH-ZND operated the last scheduled QF3 service on 22/10. It was scheduled to do the QF4 JFK-AKL-SYD service on the 22/10. This service was cancelled with ZND then doing QF6001 JFK-LAX 25/10 and QF6004 LAX-JFK on 27/10. I'm guessing this aircraft will do the Friday evening JFK-AKL-SYD service arriving into Sydney on Sunday morning. A question for @jb747 - do they have passengers on the QF6xx_ flights or just crew? Assuming just crew could there have been a tech issue with ZND that couldn't be fixed at JFK necessitating the aircraft head to LAX to get fixed? Would the crew enjoy a 6 day layover in NYC or would QF bring them back to the home ports?

So, it sat at JFK for quite some time after arriving, and then flew to LA. And then after a bit more time, has flown back to JFK. The implication is that something was broken on arrival from Auckland, and it was temporarily/partially repaired to enable it to fly to LAX for a proper repair at which point it was flown back to JFK to rejoin the schedule. There is nothing on FR24 that gives any indication of what the issue was.

The 6000 positioning flights are empty (of passengers), unless the number is being used for a charter.

As for the crew... They might get a long slip in NYC. Presumably they have a heavy loading of Kiwi crew, so they certainly wouldn't be flown home. If you remove the crew from NYC, you'll have to replace them, so you don't want to be buying lots of seats in both directions on US carriers. In the event of delays, you can never quite work out what scheduling will come up with....they just move the pieces all around the board.

Noticed today's QF37/38 is also cancelled. Was scheduled to be an A332. As the Southern Summer timetable comes into effect, on Monday it becomes daily 787 (instead of 2xweekly 332) service.

Seems to have mainly impacted in the afternoon. There are a few cancellations as well. These are the afternoon flights ex SYD.
QF455 diverted to AVV
459 diverted to AVV
463 diverted to CBR
467 arrived 25 mins late
471 arrived 15 mins late
473 departed 81 mins late
475 cancelled
477 departed 30 mins late
479 departed 1h25 late
481 departed 35 mins late
483 departed 20 mins late
485 cancelled
487 departed 1h12 late
493 cancelled
495 est departure 1h55 late

and onwards delays completed my perfect track record of delayed flights...

4 hour wait on the tarmac at Avalon it looks like it’s going to be. Not great.

Virgin has just done a 6 hour SYD-AVV-MEL flight just airborne at Avalon now.

Some other diversions:

QF172 WLG-MEL to Avalon
QF703 CNS-MEL to Avalon
QF625 BNE-MEL to Canberra
QF1523 CBR-MEL returned to Canberra

Avalon was quite busy with diversions, with at least 4 Qantas aircraft, 1 Jetstar and 2 Virgin.

Also, the 787 disruptions are persisting. QF95 MEL-LAX cancelled tonight.

The SYD-AVV QF flight is grounded at Avalon, pax disembark and being bussed to tulla. Apparently engineering check required due to damage on landing.
Do they offer buses, say to Southern X as well? Would probably be more convenient for some of the pax!

QF35 MEL-SIN cancelled today. Wonder if down an aircraft (A330 that seems to have been cancelled on Sat QF37 MEL-SIN, Sun PER-SIN and now today QF35) or down on loads and consolidating flights now they're going double daily MEL/SIN.

I was supposed to be on QF37 today MEL-SIN, the second daily flight between the two airports. It's been cancelled today, about 7 hrs out from departure.

Saturday: QF37 cancelled
Sunday: only ever had QF35 scheduled
Monday: QF35 cancelled
Tuesday: QF37 cancelled

Hmmm ... bad luck or bad management?
