Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Just boarded QF43 - will be about an hour late departing. No entertainment screens in economy! Qantas having another practice run as an LCC.
Another reason (LCC aspirations) for my new policy which I call AOA - Any other Airline - for international travel.

Wellington - syd QF 164 delayed due to 1hr late arrival for QF162. Looks like I'll be pushing my departure Syd - HBA with a connection time now of 45 mins Int to Dom, which should be fun.

Just got an email about tonight’s QF60 HND-SYD cancellation. Alternative flight has not been arranged yet…
Looks like a result of QF59 diverting back to SYD after take off, guessing mechanical as it was over FNQ when it turned around

A display of roll-on delays.

QF672 schedule 0705 ex-ADL to MEL actually departed 0843 arr MEL at 1040 (sched 0850).

Flow on delay to QF702 sched 0945 actual 1137.

Flow on delay to QF703 for those looking to escape tropical cyclone Jasper now estimating a 1420 departure (was 1245…)

Will be interesting to see how affected CNS becomes for all airlines over the next 2-3 days with TC Jasper expecting landfall at Port Douglas circa 10am 13/12…..

delays across the domestic network following the early morning storm in MEL today which slowed movements and at one stage reportedly paused ground ops.
In 1 of many examples, B738 VH-XZP arrived MEL mid-morning ex-SYD 45 min late as QF419, impacting the subsequent QF796 MEL-ASP and return QF797.

QF 29 today is also severely delayed due to extreme delayed QF 30 arriving today... ETA is around 1620 today

Late update - departed at 1812 on VH-QPE and arrive at 0044 HKT, Return QF 30 is now scheduled to depart at 0220 HKT, Arrive at 1420 tomorrow... good luck to those taking these flights today!

Took this flight before,
from the flight history, QF29/QF30 is very bad on the on-time-performance. If you’re going to book this route just assume it’s always going to be a delay…

Prefominantly regional ports affected by cancellations ex MEL this evening:
NTL, WGA, ABX.

QF27 SYD-SCL delayed by about 3.5 hours (so far) tomorrow (Tuesday).

This will make me just miss my 2 hour, SCL-MVD connection (4 hours transit allowed) 3:36pm-5:48pm . Qantas reschedule bot has kindly re-booked me SCL-xGRU-MVD departing 16 hours after my arrival at SCL, departing 1:30am the next day and taking abt 7 hours in total.

Airline won't allow my TA to touch it, so she's calling QF first thing to try to get me on the same direct flight the next day (she's holding the flight), so I'll spend a night and part of a day in SCL (no problems there) and get to MVD only about 5 hours after the overnight scenic route that the bot wants me to take.

In the app, the SYD-SCL flight shows the new time as "on time"

The new QF59 SYD-HND service has been operating for almost 3 weeks now. So far, it has never arrived on time. Not even once!

So following QF SOP ? If they update the timetable to reflect what is being achieved they will have better OTP.

15 Dec - both LHR departures with significant delays

QF2 LHR-SIN-SYD delayed overnight at LHR, now scheduled for 9am GMT tomorrow - 13 hour delay

QF10 LHR-PER delayed by over 8 hours, now departing 8pm GMT tonight

Any idea as to the reason for both flights being so delayed? I suspect LHR's curfew may be a contributing factor...

I can’t see how the curfew would affect either of these flights. Both QF1 and QF9 (the inbound flights) have been reasonably ontime anyway in the previous days. QF10 nowhere near curfew.

Maintenance/crew illness or rest would be my guess.

QF2 must be maintenance related as the next day’s inbound QF1 is turning around to operate the delayed QF2.

Has it left SYD on time?
How about the ANA and JAL SYD-HND day flights? NH890 has the same scheduled HND time as QF59. JL52 arrives HND around 3 hours before NH and QF.
It could be airport congestion before the domestic side shuts down for the night.
