Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Monday 30 September, QF38 from SIN to MEL (A332 VH-EBR), the 2330 hours, took off at 0046 on Tuesday 1 October, arriving MEL at gate at 0935 hours, 45 late.

It formed QF29, the 1020 hours midmorning MEL-HKG airborne at 1209 hours. It should arrive 81 minutes late at 1921 in the early evening.

A333 VH-QPC is on QF127, the 1015 hours SYD-HKG. This pointed skywards at 1128 hours so an 1836 hours gate arrival, 41 late, is the expectation.

As stated in previous posts - the HKG turn around won’t be good - guaranteed delayed departure tonight - hope they can make up time in the air - if the 29 from MEL forms the 128, the delay will be WORSE than had it been the 127 becoming the 128 with a scheduled departure time of 1930

It won't... QPC will go back to SYD as QF128 which is showing a 20 min delay. EBR will return to MEL as QF30 which is due out 40 mins late.

FURTHER UPDATE: FR24 has just put 'unknown' against this flight. FR24 isn't perfect, but again, sometimes this is another bad sign.
I have a booking on QF11 next Monday and went looking for its flight path, I have a hotel booking in LA as it always seems late but a 24 hour plus delay is going is just going to be annoying.

I would also like to add one more thing… very optimistic to have a 20 minute delay in the 128 - because it takes 15 mins to taxi to gate after arriving in HKG these days due to using the far runway to land… therefore at gate more like 1850 - to clean and restock - more realistic is 40 mins behind before on the way as 128

tomlee1986, FYI I always add an arbitrary five minutes to the touchdown times that sites like FR24 show, but recognise that at many airports it'll take longer. Rarely have I been on an international flight when it's taken less than five minutes between landing and arriving at gate.

QF11D (A388 VH-OQJ, the 1735 hours Monday 30 September 2024 SYD-LAX overnight delayed to Tuesday 1 October) has just appeared on FR24's map so it may soon be off blocks and taxiing.

UPDATE: QF11D was airborne at 2114 hours with A388 VH-OQH, not -OQJ as I'd earlier surmised. LAX arrival should be 1951 hours same day,. 1711 minutes late.

VH-OQJ has been in SYD since 0606 hours on Friday 27 September so it must be undergoing maintenance.

The 128 to SYD took off at 2114 and now scheduled to arrive at 0752 instead of 0655…

The QF30 to Melbourne departed at 2212 (2 hrs late) and now have an arrival time of 0847 instead of scheduled 0725 arrival

Yes they used the cancelled 94 on the 30/9 for the 12.
No - Monday is always a 787.

The aircraft that operated the 12 was the scheduled aircraft. 1 A380 goes into maintenance on Mondays after arriving as QF11 or QF93. So they just don’t have an A380 in the LAX maintenance facility at the moment.

On Wednesday 2 October, QF11, the 1735 hours SYD-LAX A388 is again delayed, this time to a predicted pushback at 2135, four hours late.

Continuing with Wednesday 2 October, A388 VH-OQB as QF63, the 0930 hours SYD-JNB did not take off until 1105 hours. Arrival is forecast to be 1718, 68 minutes late.

OQB arrived SYD this morning at 0753 hours, 17 early as QF12 from LAX. It is not normal for a scheduled A380 arrival at 0810 hours to form a timetabled 0930 hours departure elsewhere, so this shows the pressure the 'Superjumbo' (if I may use that word, as in my mind 'Jumbo' means '747') QFi fleet must be under.

It is OQJ again. Must be more time to get maintenance clearance after it went unserviceable on Monday and couldn’t operate QF11.

EDIT: further pushed back to tomorrow afternoon now. @Melburnian1
