Qantas Delays/Cancellations

A332 VH-EBG on QF37, the 'second division' 1650 hours Sunday 13 October 2024 MEL_SIN took off at 1841 hours. Gate arrival at 2318 local time, 73 minutes tardy, is the expectation.

Me and my big mouth…

Another delay posted for QF39 now departing at 23.00 and arriving into CGK at an ungodly 01.50 tomorrow morning. :(

Is this due to "engineering" or lack of qualified running staff? I'm assuming it's a different problem from your earlier advice re a First Officer having to travel down from Sydney.

I hope no passengers have an 0930 hours Jakarta time business meeting tomorrow morning. Bleary eyes.

We have been advised they need to tow the aircraft away from the terminal to do an engine run before the engineers can make an assessment and sign off, although there was an assurance from them that the engineers are fairly confident whatever the original issue was has been fixed.

Credit to QFi staff for informing you and not just giving a 'BS' "answer".

Safety is deservedly #1, but the delay must be quite frustrating, given it comes with a smidgeon of uncertainty.

Sunday 13 October's badly delayed QF39 took off at 2307 hours from MEL, arriving CGK on Monday 14 at 0141 hours, the 2100 hours Sunday night CGK back to MEL that was in the sky at 0320 hours. It should arrive in MEL at about 1327 this afternoon, 362 minutes behind schedule.

Sister EBG is on QF38, the second overnighter from SIN down to MEL that looks to be arriving on Monday 14 at 1058 hours, 68 minutes tardy.

On 13 October, B789 VH-ZNL arrived at JFK on QF3 (ex AKL and previously SYD) at 1751 hours, 91 minutes behind schedule.

B789 VH-ZNL as QF4 from JFK down to AKL should arrive on Tuesday 15 at 0700 hours, an hour late as on Sunday 13 it did not take off until 2117 hours.

The 1325 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL, QF19 with A333 VH-QPG was airborne at 1417 hours. Gate arrival looks like 1936 hours, 46 minutes behind schedule.

Continuing with Monday 14 October, QF33, the 1455 hours SYD-PER initial sector with B789 VH-ZNN was in the sky at 1615 meaning anticipated gate arrival becomes 1743, 43 minutes late.

On Sunday 13, B789 VH-ZNB as QF8, the 2115 hours mid evening DFW down to SYD took off at 2245. Tuesday 15 gate arrival should be 0649 hours, 34 minutes behind the eight ball.

I can't recall having seen this before, but sister ZNN as QF33 from SYD on Monday 14 that arrived PER at 1757 hours is forming QF9 to LHR, the 1830 hours suggested as departing 70 minutes late at 1940. B789 VH-ZNI will apparently operate the second QF33 sector from PER up to CDG. QFi will have its reasons for doing so, but it means small airline containers with luggage (and perhaps freight/mail) have to be transferred if they originated in Sydney.

This is an interesting one - QF494 was delayed by an hour from 2000 to 2139 depart from Melbourne - why is it interesting one may ask, it is using QPH (A333) - normally used for international services

They were used as 475 to Melbourne departing at 1900 instead of 1730 and 65 mins late to Melbourne arriving at 2011

This aircraft was in Sydney all day after arriving as QF60 from HND

QF64, which departed 2 hours late, will arrive in SYD from JNB 90 mins behind schedule at 17.05. As a result, QF11 is now showing as delayed until 19.20 departure (45 mins late).

A delay or cancellation avoided with A220 VH-X4A positioning LST-CBR overnight (after midnight) as QF6200, in order to operate this mornings QF1271 CBR-MEL. This service is normally operated by the aircraft that flew MEL-CBR as QF1286 the previous evening; it appears this flight did not operate yesterday.

02 Nov 24, QF857 CBR-PER. Original departure: 1945h. But equipment has got some mechanical issues. Boarding started around 1930h and stopped almost immediately. Engineers are on board to work on the issue.

Pax advised to take a seat with updates from QF coming every 10 mins or so.

Update 1: cleared to board at 1955h.
