In another 5 January delay, QF67 (0930 hours SYD-BLR, A333 VH-QPG) did not point skywards until 1144, so gate arrival should be about 1723 hours in the late afternoon, 88 late.
Flow on effect from the EY incident last night? On Monday 6 January 2025, QF151 (B738 VH-XZN, the 0645 hours MEL-AKL) took off at 0830 hours.
Flow on effect from the EY incident last night?
QF36/52/72 all delayed out of SIN tonight... Happy New Year!
For at least the last five days it’s been operated by a 738.When I selected my seat a few days ago my QF434 was a double aisles wide body. No notices but board onto a 738. Who is doing the scheduling?
Thank you for the information that this is not normal. I have complained to Qantas and they have responded by requesting a signed statement from the passenger, authorising my complaint. Privacy legislation apparently. Given that they treated a large of people the same way and there was nothing person specific I wonder where the privacy question comes in but none the less we have supplied requested statement. This is the first time anyone has complained on AFF about such an occurrence.
As @Himeno indicated, it's indeed an odd way to handle a same day delay.
The only reason I can offer is that Border Force require passengers to be rescreened for the (in this case) very late evening/super early next day flight, but that doesn't explain why your girlfriend needed to re-check in with QFi.
Why not just have the baggage handlers alter the tags on their ULDs (luggage containers) to the later flight?
I could cope with going to the loo with a suitcase and backpack but not two suitcases, as the latter might not fit in an airport toilet.
The way you described QFi's handling of this extensive same day delay (albeit to very early the next day as things turned out) adds to QFi's costs, so it doesn't seem to be in the airline's interest to handle it in the way you described.

EBM must have gone tech in MEL as EBQ has now been subbed in to operate the QF35 service this afternoon, resulting in the cancellation of QF775/782 between MEL and PER....
A332 VH-EBM arrived in MEL at 1002 hours, 137 late, on 7 January as QF80 overnight from NRT. It is forming QF35, the 1205 hours MEL-SIN suggested as pushing back at about 1445 mid afternoon.

Wednesday 8 January's wet leased QF291 (1100 hours SYD up to SIN) has been cancelled.
EBM must have gone tech in MEL as EBQ has now been subbed in to operate the QF35 service this afternoon, resulting in the cancellation of QF775/782 between MEL and PER.
QF 29 is again very late today - it is on the QPI after arriving into SYD as 128 this morning 96 mins late, then looks like the original aircraft for 29 is inoperable, hence they send it down as the delayed domestic 435 SYD MEL - original 1030 flight - took off at 1210 - arriving into MEL at 1320 instead of 1205 (yes the time is correct!) - then the 29 finally took off at 1609, now scheduled to arrive at 2154 - over 4 hrs late!!! Now lets see which flight this aircraft will form for the return service! (Update- looks like it is the QF30 to MEL will be the one tonight facing the return delay! Schedule departure is 2305 instead of 1930, arrival time at 1100 instead of 0745!)QF68 overnight from India's BLR to SYD had A333 VH_QPC with arrival on Thursday 9 January at 1141 hours, 56 minutes late.
It has formed QF19, the 1205 hours SYD up to MNL that continues its recently history of frequently being tardy with departure expected at about 1345 hours this afternoon. This morning's QF20 was 55 minutes late arriving in SYD (ex MNL) with A332 VH-EBJ so 'the 20' tomorrow morning is likely to be worse.
QF27 has VH-ZNJ (B789) as the 1220 hours SYD-SCL that was taxiing by 1308 hours. It may be more than half an hour late arriving.
... the A330 fleet is still having lots of concern on Qantas!
