Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Anyone know why the delay on QF 12 from LAX to Sydney tonight... currently at 4 hours and yet to depart.

We are keen to know as we are on QF11 tomorrow and for the past 5 years we almost always have some flight hiccup!!!
The QF 64 normally forms the QF11.. either the 2 or the 12 forms the 63..

Thursday nights QF12 ex LAX now leaving Friday 1400 to arrive Syd Sat night 2250..

I hope so, as the QF 12 is now delayed to depart until 2pm tomorrow.
That’s what I said above. VH-OQD is the delayed plane at LAX. OQG is currently in LHR and 5 are currently flying so something will have to give on Saturday to either delay the 1 or the 11. The 93 on Saturday is OQA so unless they cancel that and position it to SYD my money is on the 1 being delayed to a Sunday morning departure. Good luck!

Another significant delay on Saturday 5 April is QF1, the 1550 hours SYD-SIN-LHR that is to be A388 VH-OQD. It is instead forecast to push back at 0700 hours on Sunday 6. Instead of departing Singapore at 2325 hours late tonight, it is expected to do so at 1340 tomorrow afternoon (1540 AEST).

This is due to OQD being hugely late as QF12 from LAX to SYD, arriving tonight at a projected 2241 hours just before curfew, 911 minutes late.

So they didn’t use OQD for the delayed QF1 instead turning around OQG after its arrival from SIN. It landed at 05:05 as one of the 3 permitted early arrivals now DST has ended.

A388 VH-OQG as QF1D took off from SYD later than planned, at 0739 (FR24 is in error showing this as '0839') with SIN arrival showing as 1312 hours, 957 minutes late.

The Sunday 6 April 2050 hours LHR to SYD (QF2) may be unable to depart LHR until Monday morning 7 April due to the restrictions on LHR night flights, although it's possible it'll be given the green light on Sunday evening as Heathrow's restrictions have some 'outs', especially if c.450 passengers would be significantly delayed. Yet to be confirmed what's occurring.

Sister -OQK is forming a delayed Sunday 6 SYD-JNB QF63, estimated to push back 70 late at 1040 AEST.

In a further London route delay, QF1 on Sunday 6 April 2025 (the 1450 hours ex SYD) is expected to depart at 1700 hours.

A388 VH-OQK on this morning's SYD-JNB QF63 was in the sky at 1127 so gate arrival should be at about 1713 hours, 58 late.

The overnight delayed QF1D with A388 VH-OQG landed in SIN at 1316 hours local time, so if at its gate five minutes later will be 966 minutes behind schedule. It had to hold approaching SIN. The earliest it could arrive at its LHR gate tonight (BST) would be c.2130-2200 hours.

The pressure will be on not to lose further time on the ground in Singapore.

This is what is currently showing for the return QF2 on 06 April.

Given QF1 is currently estimated into LHR at 21.05 and the encroaching curfew, it is a very very tight turnaround for an A380 although not impossible.

The latest I’ve left LHR was last June at 23:30. That was despite the fact we were ready to go at 20:30. The delay was due to Hungarian airspace being restricted. We weren’t the only ones either. The UK/European compensation for pax also weights heavily on airlines. $$$$$$

The overnight delayed QF1D (A388 VH_OQG) was showing on QFi's flight status as having departed SIN at 1453 hours local time but by 1518 still appeared to be in the early stage of taxiing.

It was airborne at 1532 hours. FR24 is suggesting it'll land at Heathow in London at 2222 hours local time. This seems a bit pessimistic if recent achieved times are any guide, bearing in mind few days are identical. However it's extremely unlikely to be '2105' as QFi's flight status claims.

Sunday 6 April's QF1 (A388 VH-OQD) was expected to depart Sydney at 1700 hours, but has been changed to a likely 1745 hours pushback, 175 minutes late.

UPDATE: The Sunday QF1 was in the sky from SYD at 1811 with SIN arrival at gate estimated as 2350 hours, 155 minutes late.

In another Sunday 6 April 2025 delay, QF51, the scheduled 1105 hours BNE-SIN has A332 VH-EBA that was airborne at 1249 hours. Gate arrival looks to be about 1819 hours, 54 minutes late.

The 1555 hours MEL-SIN QF37 (A333 VH-QPA, another class leader) is estimated to push back at 1930 this evening, 215 minutes behind the timetable.
