Qantas Delays/Cancellations

I've just checked in for tonight's QF128 and lots of people for QF128D checking in too at other check in desks - so far the lounge isn't too busy...
Safe travels and the reason of double check in - I think you saw the QF128D will depart at 1900, and the scheduled 128 tonight is at 1930 - unless they want to space it out? that could be a possibility...

Not sure - I haven't spoken to anyone from the 128D yet - will see what I can find out after I tuck into some butter chicken.

I hope for your sake that your flight is not the one that will be spaced out with a delayed departure just to give enough space for the 128D to travel far enough for ATC to separate you 2 aircraft in call signs...

ATC won’t have any effect on timings, flights are identified by more than mere call signs, and a d is all it takes. Please stop with the bs.

Apparently a number of passengers from 128D have been transferred onto 128 leaving tonight's totally full - no idea why they have done that seeing as 128D is departing 30 minutes ahead of 128. I did have a spare seat beside me but that has now been filled.

Is it possible because of the 128D have a weight restriction on that aircraft now due to last night's issue? or maybe that flight might have to be flown back empty? That could be a possibility

Not the most promising start to tonight's QF128 - announcement has just indicated that boarding will be starting about 19:15 - 30 minutes late

The Saturday’s 128 will arrive on time - it’s making up time in air
It did - and the you wouldn't believe what happened next.

We landed in Sydney and there were no regular gates available so we ended up in front of the air cargo shed, the captain had to get the ground team to move some equipment so as we could get into that spot, and then stairs arrived. Then we got on the bus and... the bus couldn't get a gear to engage. After completing three complete reboots of the bus they gave up on that one and we hopped off that bus on to another one to head to the terminal.

It seemed like every flight arrived into Sydney the same time that we did - huge queues at immigration waiting to get on to the e-passport machines, then the baggage hall was just a complete mess - totally overwhelmed by the sheer number of bags on the conveyers at once.

Biosecurity had all but given up I think - they didn't even look at my paper form to see what boxes I had ticked before waving me through.

Welcome back to Sydney

Yeah… I had someone flying in to SYD this morning so was tracking on FR24. At around 5.45am I think there were about 9 planes circling and waiting for the curfew to end. Qantas jets from DPS and 2xHKG, Vietjet from HAN, Etihad, Cathay, Batik Air and then a couple transcons from PER.

So it was gonna be busy!
