Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

PB enforced ex SYD on Friday and ex MEL today.

PB enforced well QF81 SYD-SIN on 08/09. The senior looking staff even instructed the junior looking staff to halt processing Y queue and process me, when I showed up at the J/priority queue.

That being said, CBR-SYD 08/09 0605 service, no clear signs indicating priority queue, no announcements calling for priority pax to board. Two agents opened the flight simultaneously and started processing pax.

I'm not surprised .. I reckon somewhere between 50 and 75% of pax on a weekday morning CBR-SYD flight would be eligible for PB.

If the departure is operated by a Dash 8 (as most of this route is) PB is even more useless as full size carry-on gets the "premium hand luggage" treatment, and there's usually ample space for overhead lockers.

QF10 PER - MEL 11/09: Not enforced. Called priority boarding and then simply started admitting both lanes.

MEL-SYD 13/9 on the A330. A very quiet, almost inaudible priority boarding announcement was made but everybody ignored it and formed 2 long lines. No attempt to then enforce priority boarding whatsoever.

17/09 QF68 BLR-SYD - PB announced for J pax only.

Given this is an international flight started a few days ago, staff at BLR are not clear on the OW rules re check-in, PB etc. So calls was only made for J pax although the display boards shows OW status as well. Another point to note - the aircraft was a A330 on Gate 36 for J aerobridge and Gate 37 for Y aerobridge. This might be the reason why PB was called for J pax only and Y pax had to go via the normal Y queue, regardless of OW status

18/09 QF499 SYD-MEL - PB not announced, but enforced.

Two queues, one for Y only and one for OW status pax. Both queues kept moving at the same time. There was 2 agents scanning BP at the gate. As the flight was very full, a call was made at the gate to check-in any bags that pax might not need during the flight, free of charge. I volunteered to check in my bag. The agent checking in my bag, also scanned me in for the flight, so I simply walked into the aerobridge

18/09 QF1528 MEL-CBR - PB not applicable ?? (OR that's what I thought although the craft was a B717)

There was only one queue, one agent scanning BP at Gate 30 in MEL. We had to walk to the flight in pouring rain.

Were umbrellas provided, or has that been "enhanced"?
Umbrellas? I have never seen any airline provide umbrella when pax need to walk on the tarmac to board when it's raining .. I mean, it would be great if airlines did that ... your post is news to me ... 🙄🙄

I've seen this at Gold Coast (amongst other destinations). Usually kept in a "large wheelie bin" contraption.

Is or was done at HBA - sometimes its a 250m walk to board/deboard and Tassie weather isn't always sparking

Well enforced out of BNE on Thurs and MEL today!
PB was enforced QF509 BNE-SYD on 18/9, and all had boarded the aircraft well ahead of scheduled push-back. Both front and back doors were used.

QF1 (16/9) and QF52 (17/9) also had effective PB.

They used to have them in Canberra too for the Dash 8 services. I haven't travelled in the rain for ages though, so maybe they don;t still do that?

I don’t think they do this in CBR. I have boarded one too many flights in the pouring rain with no umbrella in sight or offered.

The bad part is it is pouring and you are queueing to board and the person ahead in the queue is searching for their BP or can’t open their phone with wet hands .. so the queue is stalled and you are #GettingMoreWet
