Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

Four flights the last two days, no attempt at Sydney, Canberra, or Brisbane, and a half hearted attempt at Melbourne (i.e. announced but mindlessly waved through). All 717 or 737 flights out of the main terminal.

PB was in play and well-managed at both MEL on Wednesday morning and SYD yesterday afternoon.

I was wondering about that.

Explains why it's always strictly enforced at SIN as well.
Was boarding an A380 at SIN in J last week with Gold and was not enforced at all. So many Y passengers without status basically blocking the pathway to the scanning machines and then refuse to move when you're trying to get through for PB (almost half the plane queuing for boarding before it was even announced?) . Attendants basically gave up as all the PB pax were trying to push through with not much success and just ended up boarding everyone else, was a massive joke.

I must say, I’ve been institutionalised…. QF doesn’t care about priority boarding …. and now I don’t really either.

As a WP usually flying J, I usually just get into the Y lane now, don’t even bother myself with QF’s performance on its promises. And I think i’m better off for it.

No priority boarding however, boarded from rear to front...works well if seated in front as don't have all passengers going past?

21 Aug - QF486 - MEL-SYD - Gate 2 - Priority boarding observed well. Gate agent came up on the PA and invited J, WP1, WP, SG, OW-E/S. EK WP members to board thru first the right. General boarding to commence shortly.

Bags on arrival, was a different story though. Took up to 20 mins to get the bags. I had checked in over 7 bags and 1 of those bags had their luggage tags removed.

Another good experience from MEL on QF498 (the 9pm A330 service to SYD) last Friday with pax forming two orderly queues.

Boarded half way through the process and was able to present my BP at the empty J queue.

Sounds like PB tends to work better at MEL than other ports....

Right! From now on I'm only travelling with you. 😉
18 September?

Non-existent enforcement of PB last night in BNE. Flight was running almost 1h late however.

MEL-PER last week on A330 was laughable. I left a colleague to board via priority boarding…then quickly realised they were boarding both lines at once and he boarded a full 5 minutes before me. When will I (or they) learn?

PB well enforced and operating as intended at both ends SYD-AKL and return the last 2 days. Well done to the trans-Tasman crew on both ends.

Nope, no enforcement on 29/8 QF9 Mel/Perth and arrived at back of both queues. Picked the Y one and turns faster to get through…..maybe trick is board last. No waiting 😯

1/9 QF10 Perth/Mel not sure if enforced as no turn back but there was not a lot of persons in the PB queue. Maybe joe public for this flight actually behaved 😉 and did not rush in ….
