Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

SYD INT always.

Is that Sidney, Nova Scotia? Correction: British Colombia - see below  Because I've been in some spectacular boarding scrums on QF at Sydney International that Eddie Jones would be envious of. Others too, but if we are talking Qantas ...

Sidney, Nova Scotia
Sydney Airport:
sydneyairport.ca YQY (your autocorrect maybe not working)

Miss QS was asked to confirm Sydney as in Sydney Australia or Nova Scotia once when she was transferring from YYZ to SYD. YYZ operates also to YQY.

As a teenager at that stage she remarked to later that the question was so "random". :D Until I said to her that Sydney NS does exist.

Unpopular opinion - but I think carry on should be tiered as well like checked….

And I think Qantas should implement carry on weighing like Virgin and Jetstar do.
I saw them weigh the carry on of every pre-board at SYD T3 on Thursday.
Not sure what happened with general boarding as I was in the PB queue and it was enforced.

Probably the question is asked because it’s been such a common mistake in the past. YYZ has been the destination of many uninformed European tourists arriving on the cheapest fare to Sydney, as the numerous media articles over the years attest. Just google “sydney nova scotia wrong airport”.

Good!

I was weighed flying VA out of MEL about 2 weeks ago and remarked they should be doing it on every flight. They laughed and said they agreed and have been checking many bags at the gate recently.

I haven’t flown JQ for a month or so but I always expect to be weighed for them. 7kg is tough to carry much though!

Qantas allows 14 kg on DOM, 7kg INT. Air NZ has 7 kg in Y and 10 kg in J or Gold and higher for INT. If 7kg is for safety why is 10 kg allowed?

Good point - ask JQ and VA as well.

Because if you pay JQ you can mitigate the safety ;)

Just thought I’d add to this. At 1905 there was an announcement of “QANTAS flight QF676 to Melbourne is now ready for premium boarding, we now invite J, WP & SG to board using the right hand lane at gate 22. General boarding will commence shortly.” Perhaps someone got the Pre-COVID manual out because if irc that was the exact wording when they tried in 2019. Anyways not only did boarding passes get checked and 2 people sent to the general lane but they waited for everyone from the QP to arrive and be processed. This did take a while much to the disgust of the general lane which I do understand. We’d already been delayed 45 mins. I boarded towards the end, still skipping a fair sized line and using the priority lane got a visible check of my PB before being scanned. Overall very impressed I have to say.2C0F81C1-0D61-4A6E-9BE0-19D348FFB41F.jpeg

Make a call. Priority boarding first. if you don't turnup in time, sorry join the plebs.
Yes, and if you don’t turn up before general boarding starts the priority lane is still there for latecomers. Generally works for me.

The “board everyone from the lounge before anyone else” seems a bit silly when the flight is already delayed.
