Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

Just got declined Priority Boarding by the contract staff at Changi for QF82 (as in, they told me my economy row had not been called yet, even though I stated I was using priority boarding, as indicated by the sign). Not a big deal but a bit embarrassing.

If I'd had a couple of drinks, I would have then been the very last to board, preferably only after I'd been paged at least once.

31OCT QF172 WLG-MEL - PB available and strictly enforced.
31OCT QF498 MEL-SYD - PB not available but completely understandable as we were delayed and racing against curfew. The ground staff advised business class only then by rows and no boarding by status. The fact that the flight even made it was a miracle - we ended up touching down at 10:59:45pm!!

Recent SIN-SYD priority available... all eligible pax shown to a separate waiting area, roped off.

MEL -SYD on Sunday, a332, priority lane was huge, but processed first using two desks.

QF615 BNE/MEL today 1/11 PB was enforced. And followed by boarding in rows. Even though we were late by approx 25 mins due to late arrival of aircraft. .

Monday QF71 - PER - SIN, priority boarding called and then they started letting everyone on immediately.

In all of the last 12 flights I have been on PB has worked well.

I'd counter the title of the thread by saying QF as a corporate may care but the gate staff may not. QF595 OOL-SYD yesterday had the entire PB lane filled by all pax. A few Plats were seen just going up the (empty) general lane and positioning themselves at the head of the PB queue.
Despite being able to clearly hear the VA gate announcements, the QF announcements were too quiet so even though PB rules were called, they weren't enforced for existing pax in the PB line and the gate staff smiled and welcomed us all as we scanned passes.

Flew SYD-MEL this morning on QF433. Departed Chairman’s Lounge immediately upon being notified the flight was boarding and arrived at the gate. There were 2 lanes available but only one scanner being operated. EVERYONE was in the priority lane.

That happened to us at Gate 5 in SYD, going to CNS on Tuesday last week. 🙄

A good experience at MEL on Sunday with PB in place for our A332 flight to SYD. As I arrived towards the end of the boarding process, I was happy there were two lines at the gate with the priority lane being much shorter so I guess it worked even though our flight was about 45 mins late already.

Flew from OOL to MEL on QF yesterday and both my wife and I are WP....no priority lane and no priority call and a general free for all when boarding announced....and to top it off one of the early passengers had already taken our bin space in row 4 and row 4 was unoccupied by the time we arrived !!!

Not sure if it’s the clientele there or not but I’ve always found OOL the worst for PB and just general behaviour. It’s like a zoo

Done perfectly in Adelaide just now. Premiums called up first and used both lanes until somewhat cleared.

SYD Int'l had a slightly different version of this for QF1 on 16/11: called first all special assistance & First customers, then business & PE (i.e. all of upstairs). No reference to QFF / OW status made (unless it happened later on).

I'm on the MEL-OOL zoo trip tonight, but on that refugee carrier, PB will be handled as always.
Will stick to row 1 though, legs can't take me to row 4.

You should try Priority Boarding at LAX TBIT - it exists, but earlier this month it meant two queues. One for those Qualified for priority and one for the rest.

The queues were about equal in length.

In relation to those "qualified", this meant: Business, Premium Economy, Qantas elites, oneworld Elites and any who didn't have their BP checked who may not have been otherwise qualified.

Premium was called first.
