Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

QF592 SYD->OOL

PB called first, however… pax who began to queue in the non-existent “mystery queue” (i.e. the imaginary one located to the right of both the General Boarding and Priority Boarding queues) were simultaneously invited by ground crew to scan their passes and commence boarding. :rolleyes:

QF881 OOL->MEL

Another great job by the OOL crew. I arrived at the gate a little later and there was already a sizeable PB queue, however they were all dutifully checked as they made their way to the boarding pass scanners.

Pleasantly surprised to discover the very same CSM, Nickie (ADL crew), who managed my previous OOL->MEL flight is operating this one as well. She looked at my boarding pass, then looked back at me and after a split second of confusion/realisation, there was a beaming smile followed by a “Hello again Mr Brew! What are you doing back here?!” Little things make a world of difference to the flying experience.

QF157 MEL->AKL

Several wheelchair-bound pax “pre-boarded” (just like last time, fair enough!). PB not called at all. Total free for all, but maybe 50 pax total on this flight, so… maybe ok not calling PB?

Mixed feelings…🤔

QF513 BNE-SYD on Sun 30 Apr, and QF544 SYD-BNE on Mon 1 May. PB announced on each flight. Didn’t see result on way down, among* first to board, but it worked fine on the way back.

QF152 AKL->MEL

PB managed well after pre-boarding of wheelchair assist pax.

Turns out the flight was being operated by an aircraft that wasn’t certified for ETOPS and was required to take the scenic route via the NZ North Island coast, then Lord Howe Island, then Wollongong, then Canberra, finally arriving in Melbourne a good chunk later than anticipated.

QF886 PER-ADL yesterday

Total scrum, exacerbated by either PER airport management or QF deciding to board 2 simultaneous flights from the same gate 17C. There was a flight to Paraburdoo boarding at the same time.

It was an embarrassment that pax who had just arrived in Aust on QF10 witnessed this debacle worthy of a third world country. Absolute joke.

OOL-MEL last Sat

OOL-SYD last Sun (yesterday)

Both departures from Gate 11 and there’s clear separation of PB and the rest. Works well

MEL-AKL qf157 and it was very light loading. PB was called but overall a very light loading this sector

AKL-MEL qf152, again light loading but PB call first

Off topic here but AKL transfer doors opened just after 01:00 allowing departing pax to make their way to upper level

Qf444 mel-syd today boarding one front PB and then one from non-PB.

Also frustrating that just when you are about to scan your BP from the app, a message pops up saying boarding has commenced (second or third message now!?) which causes the BP to disappear and the app to refresh 😡 . Then wait 20-30sec to get the BP back. Doesn't help when the gate staff grab you mobile from you and proceeds to go to your trips-> manage booking-> and God knows where he was going I had to go back to home and tell him that is where the BP is.

Strict QF PB out of MEL on Friday and BNE today - I feel like they’ve really put some effort into this now which is great, funny timings as VA2 have changed their PB to be far less strict and confusing for their staff to execute… coincidence….?

It's not confusing whatsoever. Very clear when you read the latest article on AFF with VA correspondence.

I had a very interesting experience out of Honolulu last week. First call was for Chairmans Lounge and P1, second call for Platinum, third call for Gold and Business. They actively turned around J passengers without the aforementioned status levels who tried to bypass. Plenty of confused (Australian) faces.
