Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

Suffice it to say that after having chased the same crew on 3 consecutive legs today, Toby wanted to have a chat once we were at cruising altitude 😜

Are you doing a status run, DejaBrew, or just a really short day trip to OOL?

Well, it was originally meant to be a mini status run (literally 40 SC) that I booked prior to the DSC offer. However, bookings from the DSC promo got me from SG to WP already, so this is now just cream on top in the pursuit of LTG. Heading back to Sydney on the 7pm (QF455) and that’s the end of it for the day.

QF486? Don't miss the flight!
Ahem… um… yes. Like I said -: QF486

Thank you for that! 😆

A few recent departures over the last week: MEL, SYD and OOL. Each time PB was managed reasonably well. Certainly ex-MEL the Y queue was held back til (I presume) premium queue was done (since I was in it :) ). SYD the same, except as always seems the case despite my efforts to keep the BP screen showing, twice it departed JUST as I got to the reader GRR. first one I was the tosser trying to get it back, and I stood aside myself just as the agent suggested I do so while I tried to (ahem) get it up - and finally did [insert jokes here] (Paper NEVER had that problem lol). anyway in OOL, again Premium called and from what I could tell Y were held back for BP losing phone users like me to board...

I'd say mostly successful... but active monitoring of the queues? Not really. I mean I saw some people ahead of me on one flight with paper BP's that weren't J, and I couldn't easily see a line and waltzed on through so really... A scan is a scan is a scan I guess.

Data point from a couple of week ago - QF 11 on a just over half full flight (which is still 250+ pax) - PB was so bad the gate agents were calling out to the scrum for “Any First Class pax”…

I scan my online BP at lounge entry and get a genuine cardboard one.

Me too. Its also an opportunity to check on the flight status (not definitive, sure, but a chance for an early heads up)

A suggestion I made on the VA priority boarding thread:

I think its fair enough that both lanes are used for non-PB when the PB lane is initially cleared; the airline wants all on board and ready to go. If that's the case, and it seems to happen ?often, would it work that PB-eligible pax who arrive at, say, (close of boarding -5), know that they can go up to the front of the PB lane (now occupied by non-PB eligible pax), flash their BP and processed through? Would get daggers from the standing non-PB eligable pax, I guess, but they strictly should not be there.

Of late I haven't had any problems. It is more the fact that people are bringing far too much carry on for narrow body planes, thus resulting in delays on the ground.

To and from SYD from MEL on Thursday both not enforced. In fact the MEL-SYD out of gate 12 was a mass throng of people due to delays, they made the priority announcement and as people started ducking and weaving towards the front….15 seconds later they then went straight into open boarding. They don’t care.
