I don’t have a problem with all vegetarian options, provided they are tasty but I imagine the lack of meat (and not needing to cater special vego meals) is just Qantas being as cheap and stingy as possible.Breakfast on QF 840 choice of vegetarian Fritata or Cereal & Yoghurt.
Not impressed that all options were vegetarian. This is not necessary as vegetarians can order a special meal.
IMO it would have been better to ditch the baked beans (we are not in the UK) and add bacon or sausages.
Yes, but everyone can eat vegetarian, the same can’t be said in reverse!I don't appreciate the forced vegetarianism, some may choose it but biologically we are made to be omnivores and a meal without meat or seafood simply isn't satiating.
It comes off as cheap but with the egg shortage meat is often cheaper than eggs atm.
Hmmmmm ... smells a bit woke to me ... minority rulesYes, but everyone can eat vegetarian, the same can’t be said in reverse!
For a one-off meal, where there is no choice, why not include as many people as you can? People may not ‘like’ vegetarian, but you can eat it, and if you’re hungry, it provides something.
Passengers flying regularly, or with status, can fix their own meals in the lounge.
I think it’s keeping the majority happy? Lots of people have differing dietary requirements… no pork, no fish, no seafood. You get a meat curry or stew and find bits of gristle, or a vein or artery. Or fatty skin or pieces of meat.Hmmmmm ... smells a bit woke to me ... minority rules
I'd generally rather not.I’d rather have have a vegetarian meal!
Not really. A premium airline needs to offer more than one option. They have the statistics to know roughly the ratio of what people prefer and if they want to pretend to be a premium airline they need to get to their customers' wants.I think it’s keeping the majority happy? Vegetarians aren't the majority in Australia and they are already able to pre-select a Vegetarian meal (as can others with dietary requirements such as halal, kosher etc).I think it’s keeping the majority happy?

Except special meals cannot be ordered in economy on QF on domestic flights less than 3.5 hoursVegetarians aren't the majority in Australia and they are already able to pre-select a Vegetarian meal (as can others with dietary requirements such as halal, kosher etc).
So given they are already catered for, the default option should not be Vegetarian.
Yes, SYD-DRW (the flight in question) is scheduled at 4:25.Except special meals cannot be ordered in economy on QF on domestic flights less than 3.5 hours

Fritata was quite salty so only ate 1/3, the potatoes ok and i didn't eat the beans as not a fan and also i do not think its a good idea to serve gas inducing foods in a confined space.
Snack handed out an hour later

Is that new? You could previously order them ADL <-> PER.
That wording is still on the ‘new’ QF page on special meals..l says they can be ordered for all flights except dash8, domestic flights under 3.5 hours, and a couple of unique short haul international routes. The option to request special meals on flights under 3.5 hours was indeed "enhanced" away but then restored just a few months ago.
Given that restoration, it's hard to interpret the lack of any meat options as being anything other than cost-cutting, notwithstanding the valid point about egg prices.

Even if it’s changed, there are always pax who buy tickets within the meal selection window, or have travel plans disrupted. and end up on other flights. I guess i must be the only here who likes vegetarian as the primary option!
I’m happy with veg - I love meat, but don’t need to eat it every meal - especially breakfast. As I travel with vegetarian and pescatarians, many airlines don’t properly cater for them so happy QF caters for the vast majority of pax with what it offers. I’d just prefer the QF food was better (irrespective of protein and veg content ratios). That wording is still on the ‘new’ QF page on special meals..l says they can be ordered for all flights except dash8, domestic flights under 3.5 hours, and a couple of unique short haul international routes.

Exactly.Yes, SYD-DRW (the flight in question) is scheduled at 4:25.
It's one meal out of the 1,000 you have each year. You'll live.I don't appreciate the forced vegetarianism, some may choose it but biologically we are made to be omnivores and a meal without meat or seafood simply isn't satiating.
