Qantas Business Class meals & menus

CNS-BNE 15:10 flight the other day. Two options - braised beef or butter chicken.

Beef was very nice. Tasty, and really tender. I initially feared there was too much mash compared to meat but there was just enough meat for me. And not bad for a 3pm flight.

This was on an Alliance jet and crew. Equipment change and a trainee attendant saw me bumped from 1A. But still very comfortable in 3A. The cabin manager told the trainee to take orders after take-off in a specific way. Mine was taken 2nd. I could see they had 3 of the beef and 6 of the chicken, so I appreciated the opportunity to order early. Also received my drink before the meal (no-one else did).

Good service but was a bit slow and fumbly. But the guy was training, and we had a good chuckle when I had to hand him the foil from my dish and he forgot within 10 seconds what water I wanted, so all good.

BNE to CNS. Scheduled 8pm departure but an hour late. Dinner service. Black pepper beef. Good flavours. Beef tough as leather. Much prefer the Lindt stick to the ball

I had a 7:15pm departure, SYD-HBA almost 2 hrs. I asked at the QP in Sydney what the meal service would be (showing J BP). Answer 'refreshment'.

What we got was a choice of hot meals (AKA 'dinner' in my lexicon), I chose the 'butter chicken' which was not real flash. No drinks, as I was driving at the end.

Flew J CHC-MEL a couple of weeks ago, had the lamb shank in a red wine sauce, couldn't finish it (mind you, I am a bit of a snob, I like to bring my own tucker for long haul flights..ie take away roast duck or goose!) Asked for a 2nd glass of champers, and was told they've ran out, The CSM said they only had 2 bottles. 🤦
Didn't they use to have Pepe Saya butter in J? First time flying since COVID.
Crew were fantastic but man are they being shafted.

AKL-SYD. Was offered the beef or the chicken. The beef on the way over was pretty ordinary. Multiple pics of it on here already, it was the one with greens and rice. Had brekkie in the Flounge assuming that it would be better than anything onboard and was correct.

This was described as chicken with mushroom sauce.
It was worse than the beef, pool of water surrounding it. Ate the mashed potato.
I’m also a bit skeptical about these cakes they have with expiry dates a year ahead. Doesn’t give freshly baked vibes to me.

The Ballantyne’s butter is not as good as Pepe Saya but not a deal breaker.

Overall the meal resembles what would have been served in Y a few years back.
Utterly uninspiring.

Not to mention the 25% sugar and 500% of the RDI of salt…😔

Didn‘t someone recently do an article on why airlines love that stuff? That cake could have been on its fifth turnaround before it got whacked onto your tray. Although, probably more likely down the back and the pay to eat snacks…
