Return for free:
Grrrr... Stil a massive scam.

A oneway online ticket is $16.40
A return online ticket is $20.90 (works out at $10.45 per direction)

Instead airtrain charge off the most expensive one way fare because if a "oneway" ticket is $16.40 online then return for free fare should logically be $0 on the return meaning $16.40 total or working out at $8.20 per direction.

A gocard/contactless or paper ticket purchase on the day of travel are all fixed at $20.90 so I see where they get the full price from but still it's misleading.

Ironically a Greyhound from the Domestic Airport to Surfers Paradise works out cheaper then the train/tram but only works once a day. Train/Tram is $42.60 for a paper ticket or $35.91 for a gocard/contactless fare.

snagged an upgrade
Re: upgrades -

a. If the upgrade is a CR upgrade using points on a commercial fare - I'm assuming one'd still be awarded SC (&DSC) based on their commercial fare?

b. If the upgrade is a cash upgrade (bid now type upgrade) on a commercial fare - I'm assuming one'd be awarded SC (&DSC) based on their upgraded fare, not the original fare?

Is my understanding correct?

Reason I ask, I have got a few DSC domestic commercial travels coming up and QF had sent emails for Bid Now upgrade. Discount Y to J is only $100 (as a minimum bid, which I what I'd like to offer, nothing more given the short flight). Want to give this a shot, if I'd be getting J SC, otherwise, not worth it.

Correct, you will just get the SCs and DSCs based on the original fare you purchased, not the upgraded seat you flew.

Answering my own question - excerpt from Bid Now T&C

If your Bid Now Upgrade offer is successful, the original fare conditions of your booking will apply to your upgraded booking. Products and services featured may vary according to aircraft type and configuration and is subject to change. You'll earn Qantas Points and Status Credits at the rate or your original booking

It'll be interesting to see how quickly this posts and hopefully posts correctly.
Fwiw, DSCs have not posted instantly for my first chunk of flights (as expected, though I wasn’t successful in my upgrade request).

Will post as/when if others don’t beat me to it, but not expecting them for at least a few days, if not weeks.

DSC have never posted "instantly" - but usually within 48 hours of the original flight posting (sometimes a little longer)..

yeah, just being a pedant :p

My regular status points posted immediately for my recent flights MEL-PER rtn. Hoping for quick posting of the double status, which would push me into Gold in time for my next flight to Perth in a couple of weeks. Because I'm all out of lounge passes, ::horror:: haha.

Still no dsc from a 1 April flight that should be eligible

Edit: not expecting it for a while yet but thought the datapoint might interest others

Has anyone suggested a new thread for 'Will Qantas award double status credits from the march 2023 promotion in April 2023?'
