QANTAS/Emirates alliance - thoughts?

Were they Australian flight-attendants on EK? Friend of mine from school is one, and I'm surprised he ever got employed.

Funny you say that as I had pretty much the exact opposite experience just yesterday: I might post a separate trip report if I get to it but just in short, I thought I try Emirates J class from Auckland to Sydney, just to see how it compares. Starting with the obvious better aircraft on the big bird with really great and smart seating arrangements in the business cabin and going on with the truly multi-cultural staff which I really enjoyed and finishing up with an exquisite dining experience with lovely food and excellent wines, I couldn't find a single fault with Emirates and am very happy that Qantas is about to hook up with such a quality airline. I've done the same trip on Qantas many many times and to compare the two is like day versus night with Qantas not being the day, that's for sure!

Unfortunately, from the news here QF and Emirates are not looking to join up for the Trans-Tasman flights:evil:

I certainly didn't hear any familiar accents. Most of the attendants on flight appeared to be from the UAE - save for one who was Irish.

I have a niece who flew as an EK FA based out of DXB for 6 years late last decade, born and raised in Glen Waverley, Victoria, Australia.

She was part of an intake of about forty from Oz in the mid 00's.

(Met and married an expat from the Ol' Dart - still living in the UAE.)

Mrs GPH and I are booked SYD-LHR return in April (just after the new agreement takes effect) I haven't taken notice of the developments and was wondering how much of my trip if any will be on EK metal.
I am assuming we will now go via DXB rather than SIN ?

It is I, Leclerc !

Our trip just goes via DXB instead of SIN nothing operated by EK at all

There was a situation under the JSA with BA that you could be switched between BA and QF possibly without warning - not sure how often it happened bu that would be the only circumstance I could see where a current QF booking to LHR might lead to some travel on EK metal.

As it is LHR is a super-premium destination for EK, doubt there would be a spare seat to be shifted to in any class
