Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

Call me cynical but Qantas has had a lot of deeply discounted tickets since the announcement. My bookings to Europe have gone up 6x ONLY because of hte deeply discounted tickets (1/2 price) which I had never found on QF prior to the announcement. If it were not for these massive savings I would be travelling on another airline with better dep & arr times, better luggage allowance and better transit point en route. Will the bookings stay high once QF returns to top price tickets? ON the other hand, if QF can continue to sell deeply discounted tickets now, why was that not possible before?

You may be right. But maybe stop and think if the agreement with Emirates is the reason the prices have dropped.

I think it is a cynical attempt to convince the ACCC that the deal is not detrimental to Australians and to competition in our over-priced airfare market (when compared with tickets on the same routs bought at the destiniation country). I am expecting tickets to return to previous prices once the ACCC has signed off on the deal. I would love to be proved wrong on this but the QF track record does not suggest that this will happen

This thread is about the QF/EK partnership, including Codeshares and Status. Please stick to this topic in this thread.

There was another exhaustive discussion regarding food preparation and menus, where it was discussed in depth and the thread closed. So no need to re-open the debate in this thread just to make the same points as already made in the other thread. Please stick to the topic.

I have moved the food discussion posts to the other thread to keep this thread on topic.

I wouldn't call that a bug, I would call that situation normal. Rightly or wrongly of course.

Have seen the same thing numerous times on QF metal flights as well. Often theirs are domestic legs in Y but I have seen longer legs as well. It is a bit annoying but....

Have tried to search but cant find recent confirmation.

As a QF WP, travelling QF metal BNE-AKL, can I walk past the QF lounge straight to the EK lounge in BNE (which I assume will be a lot nicer)?

Thanks.

Yes, I had some dramas in SIN last week however, you're good to go.

Your only potential stumbling block is the opening hours of the EK lounge

I had to remind the EK lounge in SIN of this (with the assistance of a few AFF's).......worth noting that although they let me in (only after some AFF fun) they stated that WP will not have access until the QF lounge opens on the 11th April.

It was mentioned previously on here recently, hence why I think it may be an issue if it falls outside of EK flight times

EKs BNE lounge is techically 24 hours, at present they have departures at 0230, 0730 and 2100, not sure what happens from 0730 to 2100, will find out in a few weeks.

I may have to carry a print out of the QF EK Schedule of Benefits.

Just in case !
