Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

Sure, the F price was great. And so is the (now) J offer. But people are bailing out? 🤔
We booked it to try F…not really interested in travelling to the US or trying J as I would prefer to spend the money travelling J to somewhere I want to go…

Where’s my refund (‘cause I’m not happy)?’ 😉
Haha…I am not too worried about it…just curious re timelines…I have to admit (and May jinx myself now) but my refunds with Qantas have been pretty quick…

I booked 2 x MEL-LAX for $8,697 during the price error. I used the $25 pay-later option. The next day the "pay now" price jumped to $46,000!! This had to be paid by midnight today. I rang Qantas today and after a lot of checking with supervisors they offered to rebook us on J at the original error price or they could refund the $50 pre-payment.

But when it came down to the wire I didn't have the readies so have cancelled and got the 50 bucks back. You gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em :(

I think it's risky to do the pay-later option if any of these price errors happen again. It's better to buy the ticket(s) outright and then see how things pan out. The T&C's on the pay-later option make it a gamble.

Unfortunate that the USA trip is not happening for you. What a bargain price that was.

…
The T&C's on the pay-later option make it a gamble.

To be honest in my view the T&Cs make it clear, fare revisions will change the price. The pay later option has never offered the ability to save sale fares etc. so is of limited value for anything other than buying rack-rate fares.

I cancelled our pair of J seats this evening...very rushed trip in bet 2 oithers, and Qf J is meh even at a discount. Everyone is comparing againt cash prices but really should be comparing against award flights.

I’d booked over Easter and still torn, given the email to cancel was generated as a ticket I assume the standard week ish since last contact before ticket is the deadline to decide.

I’m also tempted to ask if they’d allow a name change.

End of the day, we're happy to be spending NY in Nashville :p

Of the ~300 booked wonder how many will fly vs cancel. 50% ??

Edit
I was too late to notice, but have an event late July in 2025 in North Carolina I would like to attend. Would have jumped on the First ticket

The lucky ones who booked a multi-city round-trip to New York are the ones that wouldn't want to cancel at that price.
Close, 620 SC for my booking and I am still deciding.

Received an email on Tuesday stating 'If we don't hear from you within 7 days, your case will be closed automatically', so I guess I will have the weekend to make a decision.

Not sure that is in any way enforceable. You purchased an F class fare that was incorrect. QF won’t honor it. You can reject its offer at anytime before you board the plane.
