JQi will have their own check-in counter and would open a little after 11am for a 2pm flight.

People start queuing well before that - if you want to maximize anticipated FLounging time (and are not travelling *Class) then you'll need to be near the head of the queue.

Sorry, serfty, I missed your response. Thx to you too. Special friend is a very early to the airport type, so all should be good!

I am also on QF29 next week J class and have been told different times when I rang the QF lounge they said that the F check in curbside opens at 2020 but when I phoned the QF Platinum line they said 3 hours. I am going for 2000 as my wife is dropping me off and has a long drive home.

Although previous experience suggests *class check in is not all that speedy.

Very speedy on my single *Class flight - just be prepared to be glared at with many burning eyes when you check in promptly and again when you stroll to the front of the lengthy queue to board the plane :D

Of course the glares are nothing on what I got when boarding an AA flight once using the priority aaccess lane. A person from the other queue tried to cut in front of me and the person scanning the BPs growled at him "Sir, I'll need you to step back right now".

I nearly got the giggles :D

I haven't flown *Class since that first time (which was a few weeks back), but definitely will in the future. I still haven't been able to remove that dreaded "Jetstar Cabin Baggage" sticker from my carry on bag though.

I'm yet to fly *Class again because I still haven't been able to remove that dreaded "Jetstar Cabin Baggage" sticker from my carry on bag.

Ha ha

Apart from the speedy * class check in, I have had all the same experiences; all in the last 6 months. I do love the AA priority access lane. Those AA dragons know who "belongs" and send people back to the hoi polloi queue; and none too kindly either.

Don't mind the burning eyes; what I hate is when you are on the 'plane and comfortably settled in your nice roomy seat and they swing their cabin baggage to clock you one, by "accident"!

I have never experienced a *class boarding line or priority boarding. I just push in:shock:

They had a separate lane on my flight with the standard Qantas "Gold/Platinum/Business" placard there.

I assumed that was the correct lane because nobody was in there (vs the other full lane), so I casually strolled to the front and it was :)

Of course I'm not sure if that's typical like you said, but given priority boarding is one of the benefits I would hope it is - but then again, priority boarding on domestic flights is also apparently a benefit of being WP or flying in J but I've only ever seen that on A330 services when they're using the two doors (from an appropriately equipped aerobridge) so who knows :)

Ewing, just curious as to how/why that sticker ended up on your carry-on bag (never flown JQ *Class before but seriously contemplating it).

It was a check sticker that they had weighed it and it was within limits.

It has been a total pita - it is one of those stickers that spit when you try to remove it like the security check stickers that you sometimes get on your checked baggage which are usually ok to remove except that my carry on is made from a lightweight polycarbonate.

I have the same issue, with the very same sticker on my carry on bag. It sticks like the proverbial; the adhesive that is used, sure does adhere!

Sounds like a wicked sticker if it spits at you. :p

I've got my first *class flight next Thursday, a very cheap trip to BKK, looking forward to the special check in line and priority boarding.

Only six more flights away from WP, I will make it on 11 Nov all being well.

I scored my first such 'sticker' at BKK before flying back to MEL (back in the days of Louis Tavern as QP).

It took months to remove it (it's like a series of interlocked very sticky diamond shapes - peel of 1 cm at a time).

The people in the lounge would have the accurate information at hand. (That's where I got mine from ;)) Methinks the WP telephone agent was simply quoting the "party line".

I'm not sure what your bag is made of, but would eucalyptus oil, nail polish remover, or orange un-goo stuff work to remove the sticker??
Those three are normally pretty good unsticking a number of adhesives.

Burning eyes? I was too busy checking in to notice burning eyes on my 2 *class flights.
I also had the perfect solution to swinging cabin baggage and boarding lines. I was last on the aircraft on both occasions. ;)

]I was last on the aircraft on both occasions. ;)

Oh that can be dangerous on American.

I tried that once for a flight from LAX-JFK (as my first flight in LOTFAP). Ended up with my carry on bag at my feet for 5 hours :)

Yeah, I used to have this citrus stuff that worked wonders. Might go buy some again, as I think that'll be the only way :)

Hi,
Am going to be on CX 178 MEL-HKG this week, thought I would go to the QF Flounge. Do they close the lounge after the QF29 (2250 departure) Pax leave the lounge and the other OWEs flying CX 178 (2345 departure) get tossed out?

I would say not, but I would ring the lounge directly. They don't announce CX flights From the FLounge.

I prefer Mel over Syd, smaller. More intimate, although the views from syd are quite spectacular.......

Can someone refresh my memory? If flying CX, can you use QF 1st check in or would you need to use the CX counter?

I would have thought you would have to check in with the operating carrier?

I was just going by the QF391/2 (Air Pacific) check-in rules. I’m not sure if you’d need to check-in with the operating carrier, I’d just go with who the flight was on (on) my ticket.

However in this case, as above, it’s definitely the CX counter, AFAIK.

Dave if I am flying TG and transiting through BKK can I access the QF Lounge?

NO. The post you quoted is from 17th August 2010, before the enhancements, but even then, you can’t access the F lounge when not flying OneWorld (as a QF member).

As for accessing the QF J lounge, same applies, enhancements removed access.

And Dave Noble is no longer on AFF, your question will not be answered by him.
