Qantas First Class menus

They introduced it around mid 2014 or so IIRC. I think it's proactively offered to full freight F, CL/P1. Others by request.

I also think it might only be available on selected flights from Australia. Did have it once ex-HKG when F was on that route though.

I've been offered the inspiration on both QF93 and QF11. The bug dish on QF11 mid last year was phenomenal (photo: https://goo.gl/photos/A6kJnddjxCsPYYew5).

Next F flight is in October (QF1) so will see what they have then. I have to slum it in J until then because I decided to try out the direct SFO services and there's no F :)

Here are the March - May 2016 ex-USA menus:

I've got a QF F transpac coming up; I'll be interested to see whether I am offered the "market inspiration" dish (and if so, what it will be).

I'm on QF 9, departing at 11pm ish
Is there really a 7-course tasting menu that late at night?
Or should I just eat in lounge and get some shut-eye?

There is not a formal tasting menu but, as I've mentioned previously, I have found that the cabin staff are more than happy to serve a version of a tasting menu. (I'm assuming, given the question, that you are in F?)

Your choice between a main meal in the lounge or on board will probably depend on how long you have in the lounge and how tired you are. Either way, you can't really lose. Enjoy the flight. :)

What time is it in the UAE when QF9 departs MEL?

To me a full dinner can make sense ...

QF9 departs MEL around 23.00pm, so around 17.00pm in DXB.
Probably 18.30pm-ish by the time meal service is happening, so you could go with that logic.

But it is then after midnight on your body clock, so it depends on what your schedule has been that day, to a large degree.

I tend to eat lightly, if at all, in the lounge, so it certainly works for me to have a leisurely meal on board, a couple of glasses of Champagne, a movie or two, then settle for a sleep before breakfast. :)

I love the way this girl thinks - music to my ears.

My standard request to SQ R/F cabin crew - keep the glass full and min 10 mins between every course - sorry for going OT.

Does anyone have copies of the current SYDLAX QF11 and LAXSYD QF12 menus in First? Have a trip coming up in a fortnight and would love to see what is available ...

The F menus, like all the other soft product, have been degraded in recent years. The sharing of dishes with J menus is not acceptable and is getting more common. Yes, there are extra courses not available in J but so many of the main courses and entrees are the same. The wine lists were, once upon a time, wonderful with lots of interesting and really good wines. Now they are average. Often there are no wines that interst me (& I'm not a wine snob): I end up drinking champagne only, which I enjoy but I do miss the ability to try some really fgood still wines. The spirits are also not up to standard. The products in the Flounge (if one still exists) are now of lesser quality. The seats need updating to match competitors' product (e.g. individual wardrobe/low level bag storage). At least the F crew are now uniformly outstanding and equal to the best BA can offer. I could certainly select my meal and eat when i wished. Now it is time for senior management to reinvest in the quality of the product offered.

I'm doing this flight next week. Anyone have a recent menu?

I'll probably get to lounge early, but since this is my first QF F flight (done the lounge loads of times) I'm keen to check out the QF F on-board product. Keeping that in mind, should I eat bigger meal on board first (impromptu tasting menu I guess?) and then breakfast later? Is there any other way to do it?

Can some good AFFer pls advise what meals served on 93 / 94? With 09:15 dep hopefully not bfast.

Cruiserette has tied a knot in my nose bag so forward planning required - she just hates to see me enjoy myself!

Cruiser,

93 is a lunch/dinner service after take off with refreshments through the flight and then a breakfast before LA.
94 is a supper service on boarding and then breakfast before arrival in Melbourne.

Thank you good Sir - my memory was that 93 served lunch and not bfast - so for 94 def best to have proper dinner in lounge pre boarding then? I assume the dinner in lounge is quite ok?

Definitely dinner in lounge before IMO. If we are talking QF F lounge at Tbit then a very nice dinner can be had.
