I think the assembly is pretty quick. The components get manufactured by numerous sub-contractors.

I wonder why not the A350's.
No idea the difference, but they look better!!

We believe the Dreamliner is the right aircraft for Qantas's future. Every aspect has been considered, particularly it's efficiency and technology.

It will reduce fuel burn, cut heavy maintenance requirements, and will open up new opportunities around the globe allowing us to be flexible with changing market conditions.

I'd encourage you the read the media release, including the fact sheet, as it will give you an insight as to why we're super excited to welcome this new flying kangaroo to our 'mob'. :)

Thanks RR.
It still doesn't mention anything about which aircraft looks better. ;)

I too reckon it is the better aircraft due to size and range. But do remember Qantas was one of the very first 787 customers so would have got very very very very good pricing for them. Bit like the good pricing they received for the A330's thrown in as sweetners with the A380's. Makes the economics hard to ignore.

Just don't put in 9 abreast down the back, otherwise this little black duck will be flying other carriers.

I'm curious to know about the objection to the 9-across seating in economy. The 747s and A380s have 10-across. Even with 9-across, would there be less room per seat than the 10-across layout in the big birds? I would have thought that they'd actually use the same seats as they have with the sky beds in the A330s, 747s and A380s.

I'm pretty sure the 787 are no where near as wide as the A380's and 747's.
