Cuts will be more likely if they are increasingly have to sell selling business class seats for $5000 instead of $8000 and premium economy for $2000 instead of $3500....
sign of the times. Get the impression no one is buying business class & everyone trying to upgrade.Somehow I suspect cuts to services won’t be because QF are selling a handful of economy seats on each for $950 instead of $1300 (if indeed they turn out to do this).

So called full service airlines, trying to compete with LCCs & ULCCs are becoming pseudo LCCs & can't win with their much higher costs.
if unions win lower house but clive controls senate, it could get interesting. Alp means less money not more. Higher penalty rates simply means less employment, when they apply. You mean if the Liberals win and we all have less money, antas will cancel flights? But if Labour wins, and we all get more money in our pockets, and penalty rates restored, flights will sell more seats ('cause people have more cash) and FF seats will be educed? Sounds plausible
the economy is heading into the toilet. I get the impression the only people flying soon will be public servants.I seriously doubt election result will haveany impact on airfares, its all about business demand as this is where airlines make their profits. Economy generally under performs when labour is in, which likely means less busines travel but not significantly so. Qantas' profits are definitely not dependent on the low income earner economy traeller who will get a few extra dollars a week under labour.
And we are not in a recession, we werent even ji a redession during the GFC which mostly impacted US and Europe.
